“No, I wont that’s disgusting.”

She grabs on to the pillow next to her and throws it at Jim.

“See that she’s a fisty one.”

Turning the camera back on to Jen he says,

“She just camera shy”

He walks in to the kitchen counter lifts the coffee pot up and with his free hand he slowly sets his palm on to check for temperature. He shakes his head and sets the pot back down in its place. He grabs a hold of the remote control on the counter, turns and aims it at the radio on the other side of the sink. He presses the remote and the radio turns on airing a news reporter’s weather report. H e steps to the fridge opens it, looks in on the beer cans, wine bottle, orange juice. He steps back closing the door. Hen steps back to the counter looking the coffee pot over. He reaches for the cupboard, grabs out a mug and sets it on the counter. He lifts the coffee pot up and fills the mug. After setting the pot back in its place he walks the mug to the microwave opens the microwave and sets the mug in. He sets the microwave on reheat, turns from in his stand and walks out of the kitchen heading for the living room.

LIVINGROOM

JIM

He walks on in to the living room heading for the coffee table. He stood in front of the coffee table looking over the tv remote. He bends down to grab the remote up off the coffee table and from the corner of his eye he sees Jen walking on down the stairwell. He stands upright holding the remote in his hand staring her over he asks,

“Where were you?”

JEN

Stepping on thru the living room heading for the kitchen she looks him over answers,

“Up on the couch.”

She walks on in to the kitchen and back over her shoulder she questions,

“Why did you miss me?”

JIM

He sits down on the couch and answers,

“Well ya.”

He leans in to the coffee table looks over it and shakes his head saying,

Microwave.”

KITCHEN

JEN

Holding the radios remote in her hand she turns the radio off. She turns for the counter setting the remote back on and then feeling Jim’s chest rub in to her back she smiles.

JIM

He sets his arms around her saying,

“I missed you this morning.”

He sets his lips on to her ear kisses then hears the microwaves beep.

JEN

She leans her back side out pushing him away and in a disgusted voice she yelps,

“eewue u didn’t brush your teeth,”

She smiles turning around and watches as he tends to the microwave. She leans her backside in to the counter saying,

“That’s from six this morning.”

JIM

He raises his eye brows bringing the mug up to his lip saying,

“That’s why it was so cold.”

JEN

She smiles and asks,

“Are we going to get ready?”

JIM

He walks on out of the kitchen saying,

“I’m on my way, and I warned you I’m not getting all dressed up.”

JEN

She watches him walk on out of the kitchen and loudly says,

“Well you don’t have to get all up tight about it.”

EXT. CITY – FREEWAY – SUV – AFTERNOON

INT. SUV

JIM

He steers the SUV on off the freeways ramp and on to the highway.

JEN

Sitting in the passenger’s seat, she waits for Jim to roll on in to a study drive and asks,

“So what if we are interviewed “

JIM

Sarcastically he questions

“Jen what if we are?”

JEN

“Well they could put us in separate rooms, manipulate us, and try using us as the blame, as an answer, making us out to be a set of disturbed individuals.”

JIM

He speeds the SUV up for a passing. Turns in to the empty lane and accelerates on by the car saying,

“You were talking with that attorney.”

He turns in to his lane and lets the SUV settle down to speeds. He turns and stares Jen over.

JEN

Knowing Jim is staring her over she turns to faces him and says,

“I never planed for any of this.”

JIM

He turns to look over the road and with a mean tone in his voice he says,

“Well it isn’t in any of my family either.”

JEN

She looks him over in shock, turns and looks out her side window saying,

“You can be a real fucking bastard you know.”

JIM

Calmly he says

“Ya I take that back.”

JEN

She takes in a soothing deep breath looking out on to the highway and questions,

“How are we supposed to feel about this?”

JIM

“He’s only eight months old.”

JEN

“Our insurance doesn’t cover this, doctors deny there’s any medication or illness that could give us an understanding. “

She turns to him and sadly yelps,

“I mean he’s in a freeken mental hospital for Christ sake.”

JIM

Staring over the highway he corrects her by saying,

“It’s a clinic for sick children. He’s not alone.”

JEN

“Ya well when we get back I’m hiring a professional nanny”

JIM

“Sounds like you’ve given it some thought.”

He smirks a smile reaching for the radio and tunes in to a channel playing music.

INTRO MUSIC

EXT. SUV – HIGHWAY

EXT. CLINIC – PARKINGLOT

EXT. SUV – PARKINGLOT

JIM

He steps out of the SUV, grabs on to the back door handle opens it and reaches in.

END MUSIC

JEN

She closes the door behind her, fixes her skirt and crisps her coat collars.

JIM

He steps out in front of the SUV holding a stuffed toy puppy dog in his hand. He steps towards Jen and grabs a hold of her hand to lead on to the walk way leading to the entrance of the clinic. He pulls Jens hip in to his and flirts saying,

“It’s not as bad as you think.”

He looks the clinic over and says,

“Their spoiling him in there.”

EXT. CLINIC

A young couple and their young daughter walk on out of the clinics entry doors smiling and comforting each other. The daughter sees Jim and Jen step up on the walkway leading to the clinics’ entranceway and she smiles.

JEN

She sees the couple, smiles then breaks for a wide smile seeing the girl starring over the puppy in Jim’s hand.

JIM

He leads Jen to the side of the walkway making room for the family to walk on by. He smiles looking the couple over and continues on his way to the entrance doors.

INT. CLINIC

JIM He holds the entrance door open for Jen to walk on in, he steps in behind looking over his wrist watch. He follows in behind Jen heading for the information desk.

JEN

She looks over her shoulder on to Jim before stepping a stand in front of the desk.

ATTENDENT

She stands up from in her seat in behind and the desk and greets Jim and Jen,

“Good afternoon.”

JIM

He looks on to Jen, quickly back on to the attendant and says,

“Hi, we’re the Mansfield’s. We’re here about our son.”

ATTENDENT

She smiles, looks over the puppy in Jim’s hand and then sits down in her seat with a smiling hum. She looks up on to Jen and asks,

“An infant child?”

JEN

Straight forward she answers,

“Yes Mansfield.”

JIM

He notices a couple his age walking down the hallway towards him, he looks the woman over and relizes that she’s in tears trying to hold them back as her husbands holds her under his arm whispering in her ear. He looks on to Jen, down on to the attendant and says,

“We’re expected for three o’clock.”

He looks on to Jen and watches as she stares the sobbing couple over.

ATTENDENT

She stands from in her seat, looks over her right shoulder on to the sobbing couple walking on by, she looks down on to the tissue box on her desk, back on to the back side of the couple then on to the doors as the couple steps on thru. She looks on to Jim and Jen and says,

“Yes, sorry.”

She waves out her right hand turning her shoulder in to the hallway and says,

“At the end of the hall you’ll see the admittances desk. There they’ll sign you in.”

JIM

He points out the hallway using the dog then turns to look Jen over, grabs a hold of her hand and leads the way. He looks the attendant over as he walks her on by and says,

“Thank you.”

ATTENDENT

She looks up on to him smiling then drops her smile going eye to eye with the straight look on Jens face.

JIM

He looks on to Jen and asks,

“Do you fell funny?”

JEN

She leans into his shoulder and sarcastically laughs,

“Haw Haw.”

She lets Jim lead on towards the admittance desk.

JIM

He looks over the empty seats along the wall along side of the admittance desk. He looks on to Jen, lets go of her hand and slowly steeps for stand in front of the desk.

ATTENDENT

She stands to her feet and greets,

“Mr and Mrs Mansfield.”

She looks them both over, looks down on to the dog in jims hand then back up on to both their faces and says,

“Yes, you can have a seat; we will be right with you.”

JIM

He turns and looks the chairs over, looks back on to the attendant and asks,

“Is there anywhere to get a drink, a refreshment.”

ATTENDENT

She smiles and answers.

“Yes.”

She looks on to the door along the back wall, waits for Jim to turn back from following her sights onto it and says,

“The restrooms are also beyond that door.”

JIM

He looks on to Jen raises his brows then steps for a lead towards the door.

JEN

She steps closer in to the counter, watches as the attendant takes her seat, waits for her to look up before saying,

“I was under the understanding that I could be taking my son home with me today.”

ATTENDENT

Staring Jen in her eye she agrees saying,

“Yes.”

She looks on to Jims back side stepping on thru the door then looks back on to Jen and says,

“Well I don’t have your file here with me.”

She looks on to the Jens questioning face and calmly says,

“This is not an involuntary facility Mrs. Mansfield. If you are here under the impression for taking your son home with you today, and if there is no illness in the way then by all means yes.”

JEN

She hums with expectance then asks,

“Are we early?”

ATTENDENT

She looks down on to her computer; back up on to Jen and answers,

“Well you have a bit of time to go and have refreshment.”

JEN

She looks the attendant over, smiles and says,

“Thank you.”

ATTENDENT

She breaks for a wide smile and watches as Jen slowly turns looking the lobby over and begins making her way towards a seat.

JEN

She looks the magazines on the table in front of the chairs over before sitting her self down. She looks on to the seat next to her and then looks over the door leading to the cafeteria and restrooms. She looks over the admittance desk then down on to the table of magazines’ in front of her. She stares over a magazine that pitchers an infants face for a cover, she reads over the title reading; parenting at its best . She looks over to the admittance counter and sees the top of the attendants head, she looks back down on to the table then hears the door opening, she looks on to the door and sees Jim walking on thru holding that puppy dog under his arm.

JIM

He walks towards Jen, sees her sitting her self back in the chair. He looks on to the attendant and smiles a nod before turning his steps in for a seat next to Jen.

JEN

She waits for Jim to take his seat before questioning,

“Anything good?”

JIM

“I horked down a chocolate bar. I waited for ya.”

JEN

She sets her left leg over her right, tilts her head down turning it towards Jim and rests it on her hand as her elbow sits off her knee in order for the attendant not see what she is planning to say to Jim. Staring Jim over and in a low toned voice she says,

“We can take Tim home with us if we want.”

JIM

He looks over the admittance desk, back on to Jen and in a low voice he asks,

“What, what do you mean?”

JEN

Staring Jim in his eye she asks,

“Did you know?”

ATTENDENT

She stands from in her seat and looks Jim and Jen over saying,

“You two can go on in now.”

She waves her left hand out signalling the door behind her and says,

“The doctor is anchors’ to meet you.”

She smiles watching Jim and Jen make way towards the door.

INT. OFFICE

DOCTER

The old doctor stands from in his seat in behind his desk as Jim walks on in to the office holding the door open for Jen to walk on in. He waves his hand out in front of him signalling the couch in front of his desk and cheers

“Kiddies come on in, have a seat.”

He sits down smiling looking over the open case file on his desk.

JEN

She looks back on to Jim holding a strange look on her face.

JIM

He looks the doctor over seeing him looking over the file on his desk, looks back on to Jen and shrugs his shoulders.

DOCTER

He looks up off his desk and watches Jim and Jen get comfortable on the couch in front of his desk. He looks them over for their attention and asks,

“Now how are you two doing, how was your week?”

JIM

He sets the dog snug on his lap. Looks the doctor over and says,

“Well, worried, a bit concerned.”

He looks onto Jen and says,

“We don’t know what to think.”

JEN

“How is Tim doing?”

DOCTER

He leans back in his seat saying,

“I’m now too concerned about him for now. What I would like to know is how you two are doing.”

He sits himself upright looking Jim and Jen over and says,

“Now I know this must be new to you, this week, the hospital, having your child admitted here to our clinic. I’m sure this was all uncalled for, not part of your everyday plans, your future the future held for your son.”

He looks them both over, breaths along to their breaths and then says,

“I have gone over your medical files. You two seem to be an all around typical family oriented couple. What I won’t know is what are your views and opinions over this, about the odd behaviours of your child,”

JEN

“Obviously we were concerned or he wouldn’t be here, would of had received any medical attention.”

JIM

Interrupting Jen he says,

“Doctor we were just concerned for our child’s safety, our family doctor had recommended this, your facility as an adjustment to Tim’s well being, his upbringing.”

DOCTER

He looks down on the file on his desk saying,

“Yes I have read his report.”

He looks up onto Jen and says,

“His statements, the report, his assessment,”

He looks back down on to the file and says,

“It’s described as the child has a negative reaction towards his mother, towards authorities in general, Also lacking the loveable capabilities of a regular eighteen month child.”

He looks up onto Jen and asks

“Was he placed to the means of his lonesome thru out the day?”

JEN

She looks on to Jim, back on to the doctor and answers,

“Well typically he had been raised in a play pen until he could eat with his own hands, and then,”

She stops seeing the doctor wave his hand out in front of his face.

DOCTER

“No, no I understand.”

He looks Jim over, on to Jen then says,

“I was just going routine, normally we would guide the parents, host them to the care of their child. Here I don’t see anything wrong, I respect the fact that you and your family doctor had taken the precaution and had your son admitted here to our facility. Our team of medical experts cant find anything wrong, anything worth worrying about for now, at this stage.”

He looks Jim and Jen over closely and says,

“It’s too early to detect or warn of a positive future diagnosis. Besides we, our team we don’t believe in that sort of stuff. We like to let nature take its course.”

He smiles, looks Jim over sharing that smile with him then looks on to Jen and says,

“It is natural for a child at this early age to show sings of aggression, especially boys, there are all sorts of distractions from in the transformation from infant to preschooler that we cant or any doctor should disturb or tend to treat unless it has to do with a retardation or something more severe like an epileptic or serer mood disorder.”

He smiles over the two, looks down on the file close it shut.

JIM

He smirks and asks,

“Well then did he learn anything new?”

JEN

She grabs the doctor’s attention by asking,

“So these dose mean, this visit, that we can now take him home.”

DOCTER

He stands to his feet saying,

“We would have notified you if it were to be another way.”

JIM

He stands reaching his hand out over the desk for a hand shake with the doctor.

JEN

She watches the two shake and then stands to her feet as Jim stands back from in the releasing grip of the hand shake.

DOCTER

He waits for Jen to come comfortable on her feet then waves his hand out towards the office door and says,

“Your boy is out in the lobby way awaiting his parents.”

He watches Jim grab on to the stuffed dog and quickly race towards the door. He looks on to Jen and calls her out from in her stepping lead towards the door,

“Oh and ah Miss Mansfield.”

He waves her in to his desk.

JEN

She looks back over shoulder and see Jim walk on out of the office, she turns and steps towards the doctor looking him over,

DOCTER

“I had counselled with your family physician and we had agreed on the option for counselling if you were, well if you had any questions or further concerns.”

JEN

She looks the doctor over and surprisingly she questions,

“Who, for me,”

She watches as the doctor nods his head slowly before turning her back to him and stepping towards the door.
