Chapter 1

1000 years have gone by since the fallout of man.  The year is now 3300ae (after earth). Civilization as we knew has long ceased to exist.  Now as our lasting survival of the few who survived search the galaxy in hopes to once again exist as we did when faith still existed.  Maybe it’s for the best that we don’t know, or maybe the reality of it all is too difficult for us to comprehend. They say just to utter the forename earth will bring sudden demise to any individual’s existence. My honest notion is that there is a conspiracy to silent a deeper importance than any of us could ever possibly fathom. Our way of life now dwells in outer space through the proficiency of our own scientists who work around the clock to make deep space fit for human habitation.  My name is Adam and this is where my tale commences.  Samuel Ryder was a great man, a genius and my great, great grandfather. He designed the shuttle that saved the last of humankind before they went extinct, only a thousand years prior he went missing.  The only thing I have of his is his journal in which I haven’t been able to find the key for the old leather bound book.  My search for the key has been steady and someday I hope to find it so that I may continue his work.  I turned the rustic brown book over and over in my hand hoping that it would magically open, but no it never does.  Adam stood walking to the full body length mirror in his room.  He saw a black spiky haired, fair skinned, muscular young man staring back with the most amazing green eyes.  He could stop any woman in their tracks and charm the pants off them, but yet he couldn’t find one little key.(BLEEP, BLEEP, BLEEP)  My thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the door buzzer.  I glanced at the time to see that it was two ‘o clock in the morning.  ‘Who in the world could it be this early in the morning?’  I thought to myself, as I walked towards the front door.  (BLEEP, BLEEP, BLEEP)  “Okay, I’m coming, hold your rockets!”  Adam shouted.  ‘Who in the hell can it be at this hour.’  Still deep in thought and now agitated by the sudden interruption he stared at the monitor, which displayed who was on the other side of the door.  “Eve?”  He said to himself. ‘What reason did Eve have for being at the front door at two o’ clock in the morning?’  Adam pondered. Eve was Adam’s long time buddy and at present bed companion.  He placed his hand over a device on the wall to the right, which scanned the palm of his hand.  An electronic voice rang out overhead, “Opening front door Mr. Ryder.”  There stood in front of him a very beautiful wide-eyed Eve.  Her eyes were a big, vivid icy blue outlined by long lush, black eyelashes. Her rich velvety black curls draped heavily about her delicate bronzed shoulders. Adam sensed something in Eve’s eyes, as if she were troubled.  “Eve, what is it?  You look as if someone died.  Are you okay?”  Adam asked, placing his hands on each shoulder.“Nothing is wrong; I just wanted to see what you were doing.  I was bored to death and assumed that maybe you would want to talk so I decided to come over.”  She stated.Adam shook his head in absolute disbelief as to why she was there so early in the morning.  “Look Eve.  I have to get up in a few hours, so if you don’t mind I really need sleep.”  Adam told her holding the door open.  “Please Adam, I really want...hay, are you going to let me in or do I have to keep standing out here in the chilly hallway.”  She asked as an icy chill ran up her lags.“You mean to tell me you came all the way over here just to tell me you wanted to talk, and that you were bored at 0200 hours.”  Adam stated.  “Please Adam, don’t send me away.”  She whimpered, pushing her bottom lip out.  Adam smiled at her; she looked so cute and innocent when she pouted like she always did when she couldn’t get her way.  “Oh sorry come inside.”  He told her, opening the door wider. “I hope you don’t mind the mess, haven’t had much time to clean with work and all. You know you would think with all the technology we have nowadays, we would do less work than our great ancestors of the past. Not us, not a chance, in fact, I think we have more exertion.  What do you think about that?”  He declared.  She stepped over parking herself on the black leather couch; she then proceeded to cross her bare legs before looking back up at him.  She watched intently as he busied himself to pick up clothes off the couch and on the floor.  Empty cups and plates were scattered about the room.  “I am used to your cluttered abode.”  She informed him, smirking.  Adam took a seat next to her on the couch, and ran a hand over his short, spiky black hair. He deeply sighed before looking over at her.  “You know I have to work in about four hours.”  He informed her. “You know sometimes I don’t get you!  Here we are alone at two in the morning and all you can think about is working.”  Eve stated.  “What else is there to think about other than being super tired and not wanting to go to work in four hours?”  Adam inquired, looking over at her. “What about the fact that there is a nice-looking woman sitting right next to you.”  Eve declared, running a hand down her bare leg and up her thigh under her short skirt. “Where is she?  I don’t see any sexy women here.”  Adam told her.  Eve gave him a stern look and crossed her arms to her chest.  “I’m just kidding I know you look very pretty tonight.”  She widened her eyes and amplified her malicious expression.  “Okay, okay, you are especially desirable.”  He corrected himself.  Eve reached up and pressed the palm of her hand to his cheek and looked into his green eyes.  “Adam I…”  She was quickly cut off when he placed a finger over her lips and spoke softly in her ear, “Shhh.”  He leaned in pressing his lips to hers taking in their suppleness.  His tongue grazed hers yearning to take in every inch of her sweet kiss.  She pulled away only to look into his eyes once more before softly saying, “Why don’t we take this to the bedroom?”  Eve then stood taking Adam by his hands.  She pulled slightly suggesting Adam follow her.  He stood taking her into his arms.  He forced his lips on hers once more intensifying the kiss.  Adam’s lips moved down the soft flesh at her throat, gently sucking and biting, sending shivers throughout Eve‘s body.  Eve felt her heartbeat quicken with every touch. She loved Adam so much that time itself seemed to stop when they were together.  Everything around them didn’t seem to exist when they were wrapped up in each other.  Adam slowly walked towards the bedroom.  He gently laid her onto the satin sheets watching as she undressed.  Adam also disrobed before surrendering himself beside Eve on the bed.  He caressed her enlarged swollen nipple between his lips, rolling it side to side exciting her.  She arched her back and moaned as he shut up onto his knees.  His hardened member entered her body and Eve accepted the invitation taking the hardened meat into her and arching towards his hips pushing him deeper.  Eve grabbed his arms and pulled herself up against his chest.  “Wait Adam, what about a condom? “  She asked, groaning as their lovemaking intensified.  Adam’s movements became more heightened and quicker.  Suddenly, the warm gush of his semen flowed through her and she screamed as the release of her own body made her shake. Adam had taunted her for an hour with pleasures that only he could provide, driving her to the point of sexual fulfillment over and over again.  They lay in each other’s arms after, just looking at one another until sleep found them both.  Adam woke up the next morning to feel Eve still lying in his arms. Before pulling away he looked over at the clock and it read 1100 hrs.  ‘Fuck!’  He thought to himself.‘I missed work I’m going to hear about this tomorrow.’He gradually pulled away from her trying not to wake her and moved to the edge of the bed.  He stood stretching briefly before walking towards the bathroom.  He came back to the bedroom to find that Eve was staring at him.  She smiled sitting up pulling the sheets up around her.  “Wow what a night that was.  I can’t believe that we don’t do that more often.”  Adam told her.  She smiled.  “I know.  I was actually shocked you didn’t use a condom.  Aren’t you scared I will get pregnant? “She asked him.  “He smiled and looked back at her, “I haven’t been using a condom Eve.”  Eve rolled over and to sitting position and stood walking over to Adam.  “Then you won’t be surprised when I tell you that I am pregnant.”Eve stated, just as the doorbell rang.(BEEP, BEEP, BEEP)  “Just hold that thought baby, I will be right back.”  He told her, pulling on some shorts that were lying on the ground.  He walked towards the living room to the front door. “Ok I’m coming.  Just hold your horses.”  Adam shouted.  He looked up at the monitor to see a tall, older bald headed gentleman in a suit and tie standing at his front door.  As he opened the door he asked, “Yes may I help you?” “Yes sir, my name is Mr. Peterson. I’m with the law office from planet Sandabar.  I need you to come in to work today.  We found your grandfather‘s ship.”  The gentleman stated, handing Adam a card.“Can you give me a minute?  Sure, I'll be right here when you are ready.”  Mr. Peterson stated.  (“What do you want?  If it’s about the gliding ticket I paid it all ready.”  Adam told him, handing him the card back.  “I assure you Mr. Ryder I am not here for a collection.I am sorry to inform you that your great grandfather Nichols passed away last Monday.  I am here to read his will to you and only you, do to confidentiality.  You do understand?”  Mr. Peterson told him.  “Yes I do Mr. Peterson.  Please come in.”  Adam stated, motioned with his hand.  Adam led the lawyer to the kitchen table and sat down.  Mr. Peterson placed his briefcase on top the table and opened it pulling out some papers.  “Ok then let’s get on with it shall we. Just to let you know you’re the only one that he had placed in his will, so with that said you now own everything your great grandfather once owned. This includes a space ship, a house, a few odds and ends, and last but not least 100,000,000,000 Orbs.  The money will be transferred to your account by the end of tomorrow and as soon as the paperwork is signed the rest of the items will be shipped here free of charge sometime today.  Sorry about your grandfather he was a great man and had many accomplishments.  Look on the bright side your grandfather has made you a very rich man, richer than your wildest dreams.  I just need you to sign here and here.”  The lawyer stated.  Adam grabbed the pen the lawyer offered him and signed the forms.  He handed the pen back to the lawyer and sighed as if at ease.  “Is that all?”  Adam asked.  “That will do it.  Here is your copy and I keep this copy for my records.  If you have any questions do not hesitate to call me anytime.”  Mr. Peterson stated, handing him a business card.  He stood up and held out his hand to Adam and Adam took his hand in a firm shake.  He then escorted the man to the front door.  “Good luck to you Mr. Rayder.”  “Thank you Mr. Peterson.  You have definitely made my day.”  He told him.  He shut the door and turned to see Eve standing behind him wrapped in the bed covers. “Who was that?”  Eve asked.  “You know you look really sexy like that.”  Adam told her.  He came up to stand in front of her.  He reached up caressing her soft cheek, before replying, “I am just about ready to take you back to the bedroom again and do things to you that would probably drive you to insanity.”  “Oh is that so?  Well thank you, but that doesn’t answer my question.”  Eve told him, pulling his hand away.  “All business and no fun make for a tense Eve. Well that was a lawyer who just told me that my great grandfather has just died and he left me everything in his will.”  He stated, walking towards the kitchen.  He pushed a button on the wall and a swooshing noise rang out.  He slid a glass door back and pulled out a glass of soda.  He took a sip before looking back at Eve.  She had followed him to the kitchen and stood in the doorway.  “Really, your grandfather left you everything.  I thought you only met him once.”  Eve expressed.  Adam handed her the glass and she took a mouthful then handed the glass back to him. “Yep I can’t believe that he even remembered my name.”  He recounted.  “So what did you get?”  She asked.  “Well I got a space ship, a few odds and ends, and a house on planet Masculin, and I wish not to tell you about the last one.”  “Well why not?”  She asked.  “Because I would have to kill you after I tell you.”  He told her laughing.  “Well a house on a planet is worth about 100,000,000 Orbs, and the space ship is about the same cost depending on how fast it can go. The odds and ends we would have to look at the stuff, but from the sounds of it you’re really rich man.  So what is the one you didn’t want to speak?”  “I told you I can’t tell you or I will have to kill you.”  Adam repeated.  “Well then you will just have to kill me because I want to know.”  She stated coming up next to him daringly facing him.  “Well in that case I also got 100,000,000 Orbs sad to say now you must die.”  He said, grabbing her from behind and wrapping an arm around her neck.  “Stop it!”  She commanded.  “Sad my ass, you’re one of the richest people that I know.  What are you going to do with all that money?”  She asked him.  “I don’t know yet.  First I will probably get married to the first person that asks me.I am then going to travel through the galaxy in my new space ship with my new-fangled wife and eventually have a family.  I will travel to the planet Masculin and check out this amazing house my grandpa left me and stay there the rest of my life raising my family.” He declared.  “Well then if that is the case will you marry me?  Or can you find it in your heart to marry your best friend?”  She asked.  “Eve I like you a lot, I love you even more and I would be honored if you would be my wife.”  He told her.  “Good because there is something that I needed to tell you.”  “What is it Eve?  Just tell me.”  She looked up at him and smiled slightly.  She was nervous about what she was going to say and began twisting her fingers together.  He grabbed her hands and smiled down at her.  He raised his arm and ran his thumb across her soft cheek before whispering, “Just tell me sweetheart.”  “Well here it goes.  I am pregnant, that was the main reason that I came over here last night so late because I wanted to tell you. Well it looks like you get the family you wanted after all, just a little sooner than you wanted.”  She stated.  “You are, really?  I don’t know what to say.”  He told her.  “Are you upset?” She asked, turning from him.  He grabbed her arm and pulled her back around to face him.  “No!  I am very happy.  I would love to have this baby with you I just wasn’t expecting it.”  He told her.  He pulled her into his arms and held her tightly to his chest.  She looked up at him and smiled with such love in her heart she thought her chest would explode.  “Hey baby.”  Before she could answer the doorbell rang out.  (BEEP, BEEP, BEEP)  Adam looked into the monitor to see some men dressed in dark blue overalls.  “Can I help you?”  Adam asked.  “We are here to drop stuff off to a Mr. Adam Ryder.”  The men declared. Adam quickly opened the door and smiled at them.  “That will be me gentlemen.  “Okay then, just sign here.  All of the stuff is inside the spaceship, and it is parked outside. Here are the keys and title you have a good day Mr. Ryder.”  The delivery men expressed.  Adam closed the door and loudly squealed, grabbing Eve.  He slightly lifted her into the air and spun her around enthused.  He let go of Eve and grinned from ear to ear before saying, “Wow this is so cool.  I found out I am going to be a daddy, a husband, and I am rich.  I can’t wait to see the spaceship my grandfather left me.”“Yep and your soon to be wife is a fox right.”  Eve told him, adding to his eagerness.  “Yep, she sure is.”  Adam replied, embracing Eve in his arms.  “So how about we go look at this space ship of yours.”  Eve suggested.  Adam released her and looked down into her dazzling green eyes.  She had the appearance of a porcelain doll, with flawless bronze skin and plump luscious lips.  He loved kissing those sweet succulent lips which gave him such pleasure earlier that morning.  He gleamed at her and responded, “Sure why not.”  Adam and Eve headed out to the space docks which were about a thirty Minute walk right outside the space station.  They didn’t mind the walk; they were too wrapped up in each other to pay attention the remoteness of the space craft. They stepped out of the elevator into a thin shaft which led to a substantial room called ‘the space dock’, which was full of many different types of ships.  Some of the ships were gigantic, some undersized and some that looked as if they were just a tin can.Adam noticed a ship at the very end of the dock as him and Eve walked through the space ships.  The ship was one of the biggest and oldest ships on the dock.  The black ship was massive and nothing like Adam had ever seen before.  When Adam and Eve finally reached the ship they began boarding it and found it to be even more enormous from inside.  Walking through the ship they realized it will take a crew of approximately a hundred and fifty to run the ship properly.  That is not all they seen, all over the walls were weird writings nothing of which they have ever seen before. “So where are we going to find enough people to run this craft?”  Adam asked.  “This ship has 50 decks and seven engines that I have never seen before.”  Adam said aloud.  These engines have not been used for some time, from the looks of it; this ship was towed into the docks.  The ship is armored to the teeth, from the looks of it but, I don’t know what kind of weapons these are either. Maybe we can find more information on the bridge.Adam noticed all the reinforcements and blurted, “Wow!”  Eve looked over at him and asked, “What?”  “I don’t think I have to worry about our family getting demolished out there while we are traveling the universe.  Shall we check out the stuff my grandfather left behind for us?”  He stated, walking over to a box on top of an oblong table in one of the rooms.  Adam opened the wooden box carefully not to harm any of the items, while Eve stood back watching.  He pulled the lid off and looked into the box to find everything from papers to pictures.  Adam noticed something flash underneath a stack of papers.  Without delay he lifted the pile of documents to find a tiny polished object with a sapphire blue blinking shaft of light on the tip.  “What in the heck is this thing?”  He asked, aloud.  Eve shrugged her shoulders and reached pulling the object from his fingers.  She closely examined the element when she spotted a button on the side of the surface.  “There is a button on the side of this gadget.”  She stated, handing the piece back to Adam.  Adam narrowly looked at the small contraption and noticed a very undersized inscription on the base of the device.  He looked about the room to find something to use to magnify the writing so he could read the words.  He spotted so glasses on a nearby counter and immediately hurried over to seize them.  He placed one of the lenses over the inscription magnifying the lettering to see a name.  Adam read the words aloud so Eve could hear, “Property of Kristoff Ryder, renowned buccaneer.”  “This was your grandfathers’.  I wonder what the button does.”  Eve expressed.  “I don’t know but there is only one way to find out.”  He stated, gliding the tip of his finger across the diminutive knob.  Adam thought for a minute before he pushed the switch.  Would his grandfather’s final thoughts be on here or maybe he really didn’t want to know the truth.  As Adam’s mind went racing Eve reached over and snatched the gadget from his fingers and applied pressure to the push button.  Adam looked over at her ready to yell when a star chart lit up the air in front of their faces.  Adam looked it over noticing the chart seemed to be some kind of map, but a map to what?  Eve glanced over at Adam bamboozled as to what she was in fact observing.  “Adam what is it?”  She asked him.  Adam stood a moment trying to figure the chart out.  He couldn’t make any sense of the map unless he was reading it wrong.  “Adam?”  Eve called out again.  Adam looked over at her and gave her a perplexed look before replying, “I think it might be a star chart or you could call it a map if you so choose.  What I can’t understand is why my grandfather has a map of the stars.  Or maybe it isn’t a map of the stars, rather indication of something more palpable like…”  He stopped for a moment trying to gather his thoughts the looked the map over again.  “It’s a guide to something my grandfather already found.”  Adam stated.  “Only he didn’t want anyone else to find it but why?”  He whispered.  Eve took a quick look over Adam’s confounded expression on his face and smiled.  She loved to watch him when he was serious as if he were a five year old with a brand new box of coloring crayons and coloring book.  “Well are we going to examine the rest of the ship or stand here and study this map all day long?”  She asked, breaching his concentration.  Adam glanced over at her once again and broodingly grinned.  He quickly pressed the button again shutting the chart off and turned towards the door.  “You’re right.  We need to take a look at the rest of this ship before it gets any later.”  He stated, walking out the door.  Eve hurried behind him through the hallway.Adam moved so fast Eve could hardly keep up with his gait, and the deeper into the vessel they went the more amazed they became on how the ship was built. They reached the cargo bay thirty minutes later after groping the ship so they wouldn’t be lost later when they boarded the vessel.  As the door mechanically glided open with a swooshing sound, they looked into an almost empty cargo hold.  In the center of the room was a single desk with neatly stacked set of papers.Next to the papers sat two chests and on top of the chests two sets of keys.Adam approached the desk picking up a paper from the top of the stack and noticed it was the forms for the money.  Adam looked at the other documents in the pile and noted they were for the house and the ship.  “What do you think is in these chests?”  Eve asked from behind him.  Adam looked over at the newer looking chest and handed the key to Eve.  “Here my dear you can do the honors.”  Adam told her, leaning in to kiss the top of her forehead where her hairline touched.  She smiled at him and took the key from his hand.  She opened the wide chest first with its mulberry finish and French design.  She lifted the lid causing the wood to screech open as she flipped the heavy top backwards.  She exposed a chest full of clothes.  She lifted an outfit up revealing a space suit, possibly from the crew who ran the vessel before.  “Dang I was hoping for something different. You know, like something valuable.  That is kind of disappointing.  Oh well let’s see what is in this other chest shall we.”  Adam stated, beside her.  Eve walked over to the other side of the desk examining the older chest. There was a letter E coated with a solid gold finish on the front of the trunk.  Wonderful carvings of wild life and trees covered the body of the old wooden container.  Eve felt compelled to open the chest, a need to know what was inside this superlative old work of art.  She leaned forward pushing the other key into the key hole.  The key went half way in and jammed.  Eve jiggled the key some before pulling it out and trying the other key.  The other key only went half way in then stopped.  Nether key worked and Eve soon realized there was no way into the chest without destroying the exquisite décor about the wooden box.Adam looked over beside the chest to see an envelope with his name on it.  He quickly picked it up and opened it.  He pulled out some off white stationary that was addressed to Adam from his grandfather.  “Hay Eve look there is a letter here from my grandfather.”  Adam told her.  “Well read it.”  She replied looking intently at his face.  Adam held the letter up and began to read aloud, “Dear Adam If you’re getting this letter this means I have died in some manner. I am truly sorry that I was unable to spend more time with you. My trips through the galaxy I have exposed many things that I can only hope are not discovered again. One of the galaxy’s greatest secrets is inside that chest that you at this very moment are now trying to open.  You can’t open it can you? WRONG!!  Do you still wear the key around your neck that I gave you to hold on to for me until I asked for it back? Well guess what that key opens part of the chest the other part can only be open with a drop of your blood. There will be a letter in there as well telling what you have. So go ahead my boy and open the chest.  Just remember you possess the key to all the knowledge.  Don’t let that kind of capability fall into the wrong hands.  Take care and god is with you my boy. Love your great grandfather. Adam suddenly realized for the first time since the lawyer had come to his house that his grandfather’s death was real.  He didn’t give the death much thought before but now the reality of it all was sinking in leaving him feeling empty inside.  He was all that was left of his family, except for the life that now grew inside of Eve.  He had nobody and that scared him more than anything in the world.  Adam removed his necklace holding it tightly in his hands as he looked at the old dusty chest.  Eve placed her hand on his shoulder for support wondering if he would be up to the truth his grandfather left behind.  Adam proceeded to insert the bulk of the necklace into the key hole.  He looked over at Eve and softly smiled.  “Well here it goes.”  He stated, vaguely turning the key.

Eve looked down in earnest as a loud (Click) bellowed out from inside the trunk. As the lock popped open, another panel opened up as well.“Well I guess this is where the blood needs to go.”  Adam said, swallowing hard.  He pulled his pocket knife from his pants and made a small incision in the palm of his hand.  He winced at the stinging that came before the blood finally flowed freely through the open wound.  He held his hand over the panel squeezing tightly to direct the blood flow down inside the segment. “I really hope the pain is worth all of this.”  Adam said.  “So do I.  I hate to see you in pain.”  Eve replied.  As the blood trickled from Adam’s hand and hit the Panel, the velvety material changed from charcoal black to a murky green. A thunderous clack encircles the air around them causing Eve to jump.  Adam looked over at Eve as the chest groaned when Adam pushed the lid back.  Eve caught Adam’s eyes peering into hers and she deeply breathed in with overwhelming anticipation as to what they would find.“It is time to see what all the fuss was about and see why I had to shed my blood to open this wretched thing.”  Adam retorted.  Adam looked attentively at the rugged old grey cloth that lay over the contents of the chest and sitting on top was a discolored envelope addressed to Adam.  He steadily took hold of the envelope and opened it to find another letter inside.  Adam immediately pulled the letter out and began verbalize aloud once more what was written so that Eve could hear.  “Dear Adam, on my journey I discovered many things.  One of my findings was better than the rest of them combined.  I am not going to tell you what the discovery is only that it is like a heaven you could clear of your most outrageous imaginings.  A Place unlike any other you have ever seen, you will never want to leave.  Trust me; I didn’t want to leave when I first found it.  I only left because I was alone and not having a woman to love or a family to take care of can do things to a man’s state of mind.  I had no family there with me my boy and personally the thought of living my whole life knowing that you, my only grandson would have such a hard life to live.  I had to make sure that I came back here just so that you can have a remarkable launch towards the rest of your existence. The reason for presenting you with such a powerfully built ship is because inhabitants want what you will soon have and they will do anything to get it.  I am talking about the map.  Certain individuals are after the map that will guide you all the way to your new-found home. I hope you like it, because I know I did.  Well Adam I wish you the best of luck, love your Grandpa.  P.S.: Remember my boy family is everything; do not make the same mistakes I did.”  Adam stood reflecting on what his grandfather had written.  Eve busied herself by removing the cloth that masked the material inside the chest.  She tossed the grimy material aside uncovering a computer disk and numerous kinds of what seemed to be maps.  Adam stroked through the items in chest until one of the rolled up documents caught his eye.  He lifted it out of the wooden box and unrolled the frail article.  It looked equivalent to the diagram they had previously seen on the device and he promptly winded it back up and placed it back into the chest closing the lid.  “Wow Adam, this is everything you ever dreamed of and talked about.  You wanted to find a new home to raise a family and now you have it and some.”  Eve told him.  He wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her against him.  He compressed his lips gently against hers in an engaging, affectionate kiss.  “Well shall we get busy gathering a crew and get the show on the road?”  He asked her.  Eve nodded in agreement before saying, “Yes, we have my brother is out of work if you would like to ask him aboard.”“Yeah that would be cool by me.  We need all the people we can get.”  Adam replied.  “First things first let’s get this here chest up on the top deck where I can keep an eye on it.”  He told her.  She grabbed one end and he grabbed the other.  They both lifted stumbling a bit when they slid the chest from the top of the desk.  The trunk swiftly plummeted to the floor and teetered to a halt.  “I think I am going to have to get someone to help.  You shouldn’t be lifting this much weight anyhow.”  He told her.  He looked down at his watch and noticed how late it was getting and took hold of Eve’s hand.  “Come on you must be starving it is late.  We can gather up a crew from my place.  We also need to hire some movers to move our belongings into this ship so we can be ready to go when we round up a crew.  I want to leave as soon as I can.”  He stated.  Eve could understand his eagerness and need to get away from the life he grew weary of living.  He has wanted off this sector for a long time now.  Ever since his mom passed away two years back.  Eve wasn’t sure how she felt about up and leaving so soon but she would follow him to the ends of the universe.  She cherished Adam from the core of her very essence.  She often dreamed of having a family with him, but now she was unsure about the whole uprooting.  Once they returned to Adam’s quarters Eve couldn’t help but feel a devastating heaviness fall over her.  She sat on the couch playing with a loss string on her jean skirt, trying to control the doubts in her head and bring them to good sense.  “What’s the matter with you?”  Adam asked, sitting down next to her on the couch.  Startled Eve looked up at him and smiled nervously; she didn’t want him to know she was having uncertainties about leaving the sector.  She replied, “Nothing.”  “Something’s wrong with you, you’ve stared at that same piece of string for ten minutes now.  Come on Eve; tell me what is on your mind.”  Adam pleaded.  He grabbed her hand and squeezed it reassuringly.  Eve sighed as she dropped her other hand hopelessly into her lap.  “I am not sure I want to leave this region.  I feel safe here and it would be a place for a family.  Out there, there is no food; no doctors and you have no idea where we will end up.”  She protested.  Adam pulled her hand up to his lips leaving a light feathery kiss on her hand.  “Eve, you know I will always take care of you.  We will take plenty of food, I will hire a doctor to come with us and it won’t matter where we end up as long as we’re together.”  Adam articulated.  She smiled again this time sure she knew where her heart belonged and that was beside Adam.  “You are right and I won’t let the doubts cloud my mind again.”  She told him.  He leaned over and pushed his lips tenderly against hers permitting her lips to slightly open.  He then pulled away and looked into Eve’s sea green eyes, which seemed to look intently into his actual consciousness.  He trembled at the extent of Eve’s love towards him.  She often flaunted her love, but Adam himself wanted to give her so much more than that, he yearned to offer her the universe if only it were his to present.  He seized her hand in his and manipulated its silkiness with a stroke of his thumb.  “Well, I guess we had better start calling everyone we know.  We’ll start with your brother Josh, he needs a job and he is ex-military.”  He told her.  “Yes, he will jump at the chance to go on a wild adventure.”  Eve replied.  “Have him invite his friends to work for us as well.”  Eve diligently called her brother after Adam had suggested including his friends as well.  She turned to Adam after hanging the phone up and smiled as if to confirm an unspoken question between them.  “So he was cool with coming with us?”  Adam asked.  “Affirmative he is going to ask some of his friends and his wife Mary said she knows some people who would jump at the chance to come with us.”  “Cool…”  Adam replied.  “He told me they would let us know no later than this afternoon.”  Eve told him.  The movers took almost a whole day to move out all of their belongings and what they didn’t need stayed behind.  Adam rounded up all of Josh’s and Mary’s friends who were delighted to leave the sector.  They grew tired of their jobs and being confined to that god forsaken hellhole.  Now they had the crew they needed to uncover the foreign vastness in which Adam’s grandfather mentioned repeatedly in his writing.  Adam met up with Josh at the ship to make sure everything was in order before they took off from the safe zone.  Adam opened the latch to the vessel and took Josh on a tour to familiarize him with the ship.  “My god Adam, this ship is amazing.”  Josh blurted out.  “That is why I am making you my 3rd in command of the crew.”  Adam told him, as they took a seat in one of the chairs in the conference room.  Really!  Josh enthusiastically bellowed.  “Would you like that?”  Adam asked.  “I would be honored to be your 3rd.  How are you and Eve working out?”  He asked.  Adam extensively beamed at the mention Eve.  He felt compelled to show how much he treasured her particularly in her brother’s company.  Josh and Adam were friends’ way before Eve and the first day he met Eve he was in love, only they remained friends up until last year.  “I love her so much; I just don’t want things between us to go wrong, especially with this move and her being pregnant.”  “I hear yah, bro.  I love my sister to death but sometimes she can be a little overbearing.”  Josh stated.  He leaned back in the chair and looked Adam’s face over.  “No, she’s never been like that with me.  Not yet anyhow.”  Adam replied, standing.  Josh stood following Adam to the hallway.  “Adam?”  He called, from behind him.  Adam turned around and glanced over to see the somber expression on Josh’s face.  “I know how much you love my sister.  I can see it in your eyes.  Just take good care of her no matter what happens when we leave this place.”  Josh stated.  Adam nodded before replying, “Don’t worry, I will always take care of her until the day I die.”  Josh tapped Adam’s arm and reassuringly smiled.  “I know you will.  Well shall we get this show on the road.  My wife’s going to be happy that I am finally working again, especially with our kids.  They eat like there is no tomorrow.”  Adam laughed at Josh’s humor and the two men walked out of the ship to gather the crew and take off.  Once everything was in order and the crew was in their positions Josh hit a button which signaled to docking command.  “Docking command, are we clear to launch?”  Adam asked, when they responded.“Roger you are green all the way have a safe trip and thank you for staying with us on sector seven, docking command out.”  The man’s voice rang out over the intercom. As they tried to move nothing happened. Engine room what is the matter stated Adam. Sorry sir but we are not going any were stated the officer. And why would that be stated Adam. Because sir only the captain with the magic word can turn it on sir, that is why these ships were put out of commission, because if the captain died before giving the spell word the ship well never run that is why she was towed into space dock sir stated the officer. Eve was there anything in grandfathers papers that stated this word asked Adam. I believe so but it takes three of us to turn the core on, but there was a warning with it as well, that the core well stay on as long as the captain is alive, also if the ship is destroyed so is the captain, stated Eve. Ok give me the paper me and you well go down to the core, also have your bother come along as well stated Adam. So they headed down to the core. As they entered the room their mouths dropped to the ground, it was a room with pillar in the center with three triangles around the base in light blue color, and the rest of the tower had symbols and writing on it, the same writing all over the ship. There is something familiar about this writing and the symbols they were in a few books that were in the chest that your grandfather left you. They are called spells, one of they even tells us the name of this ship stated Eve, well nice of you to tell me these things now when we are trying to get under way stated Adam, well I didn’t think that it was important stated Eve well it was, does not matter now let’s gets into our place so we can get this thing turned on stated Adam. All three of them into place as they did the blue triangles all turned red. Adam said the words in his head as if they were his last, at that he felt that he was the ship, which he can hear everyone, then it was quit and all the triangles all turned white. That is when the core turned on with a loud crack, knocking them all off their feet. Before they can ever get back to their feet, the intercom came on, Sir we are all ready to go everything is green including the weapons sir stated the officer. Good because we don’t know what we are going to be running into out here and I want nothing to happen to all stated Adam. After stating that the three got back to where they were before they started. Adam sat down in his chair and looked at all the people around him, and then backs towards his helmsmen “Helmsmen take her out!”  Adam commanded.  “Yes sir!”  Helmsmen replied.  The ship started to move slowly forward out of the docking bay. As the ship cleared the docking bay, the whole crew cheered.  It had been years since they all had left the space station and within seconds they were streaming through broad open deep space.  Adam looked out the front window view and his heart skipped a beat at the vastness of it all.  He couldn’t contain the excitement he felt at finally venturing out into places he had only dreamed for so long ago.  He snatched Eve up off her feet and kissed her hard before planting her back on the ship floor.  “So what is our destination, Commander Ryder?”  Josh asked.  “We are heading to a place unknown to man or time.  A place my grandfather talked of many times in his letters.”  “That sounds wonderful Adam.  I am fortunate to get the opportunity to discover it with such an extraordinary man such as you.”  Josh stated.  Adam smiled at Josh’s words and then turned towards Helmsmen and blurted, “Helm plot a course to the Alpha sector.”  “Yes sir.”  Helmsmen responded.  “Can I have everyone’s attention please?”  Adam called out.  “This ship will now be known as Spellcaster.”  He stated.  “To Spellcaster…”  Josh blurted, holding up a metal cup.  Everyone around cheered except Eve.  She walked away and headed for the sleeping quarters.  She felt very tired and extremely sick to her stomach.  Just as she lay down on the bed the door slid open and Adam walked over to the bed sitting down beside her.  “Hey baby.  Why are you in here? Tired?”  He asked her, running a hand down the middle of her back.  She turned over onto her back and looked up at him.  The blue of his eyes like that of a restful sea, appeased and self-assured.  “I just don’t feel good.”  She told him.  “Well you rest and I am going to go check on things on the bridge, make sure we are headed in the right direction.”  He advised her.  She forced a smile as Adam stood to leave the room.  He pushed a button and the door slid open.  Eve watched as he started the exit the room and called out to him, “Adam, wait!”  She called.  He turned towards her and moved back into the room.  “Yes?”  “I keep thinking about us and why we haven’t married yet.  The baby will be here in seven more months and here we are unmarried and nobody on board who has a license to wed us.”  She declared.  He walked back over to the bed and sat back down as the door slid closed to their sleeping quarters.  “Eve I love you so much.  We will get married and I happen to know someone on board with the authority to wed us.”  He told her.“Your brother’s friend Helmsmen has a certificate to wed couples.  If you want I will arrange it when you are feeling better.”  He told her.  She sat up and placed her hand on his forearm.  “Can we wed now?”  She asked.  Adam looked away for a brief moment then looked back at Eve.  “Sure, the sooner we get married the better.”  He declared.  Adam shot up eager to ultimately make Eve his and instantly departed the room.  Eve stood looking through her clothes to find a dress.  All she could find was a black velvety dress from last Christmas.  The top was low cut baring more cleavage than she thought necessary and the dress itself barely past her lower thigh.  Other than that the dress was stunning.  She fixed her hair and applied make-up.  When she finished she stood staring at her reflection in the mirror pleased at what she viewed.  The door swooshed open and Adam walked into the room, but when he caught a glimpse of Eve he stopped dead in his tracks.  “What’s wrong Adam?  Do I look hideous?”  She asked, feeling somewhat awkward at the way he stared at her.  He shook his head slightly and came closer to her.  “You look heavenly.”  He told her.  She grinned and replied, “So do you.”  He had on a black suit with a white shirt and a black tie with butterflies.  She grabbed the tie and smiled before inquiring, “Butterflies?”  The humor behind Eve’s voice made Adam smile from ear to ear.  “Yeah, about the tie, it’s the only one I own.  Nobody else brought ties with them, but in all fairness you are wearing a black dress so we are even.”  Adam replied.  “Touché” She responded.  He offered her his arm and she slid her hand into the crook of his elbow.  “Shall we do this?”  He asked her.  She smiled and replied, “We shall.”  When they reached the bridge Helmsman was waiting for them and everyone was standing around them watching.  They stood before Helmsmen and repeated their vows to each other and before long they were husband and wife.  Adam intensely kissed her as everyone around them shouted and cheered.  Adam gazed into Eve’s eyes and began to speak.  “You know Eve now that you’re a captain’s wife; you have a lot of power over everyone. Just remember that they live with you and some of them are family, ok love.”  He grabbed her by the arms and added, “You never have to worry about anything again.  We have this processor that makes our food, fuel, and ammo.”  Her eyes sparkled as she smiled up at him, she felt so complete inside, as if a hole had finally been filled.  “I can’t believe we are at last husband and wife.”  She blurted.  “I know.”  He replied, as they walked back to the sleeping quarters.  Eve lay down just as the ship trembled startling the two.  “What the hell is going on?”  Adam yelled into the intercom beside their bed.  Helmsmen’s voice came back, “Sir, we are under attack.”  “By who, who could possibly be attacking us?”  “That’s unknown at this time sir.  We keep getting messages from the other ship saying ‘surrender or be destroyed’.” Helmsmen stated.  “Transport me to the bridge.  We have to find out who is assaulting us.”  He bellowed.  He turned to Eve as Helmsmen replied, “Yes sir.”  “I will be back love.  Everything will be okay you just rest here.”  He leaned over and kissed her forehead the dissipated right before her eyes.  Adam resolved back on the bridge and rushed over to Helmsmen without delay.  “What is our status?”  Adam asked, looking at the monitor.  “We are fine sir.  Our vessel is sending them false readings.  They think we are taking on more damage than not.”  Adam patted the older man on the back and replied, “Good job Helms, now summon their captain so that I may speak with him.” Adam thought to himself good thing I have been reading those old spell books they might come in handy “Yes sir.”  Helmsmen said, pushing a button.  A light emitted between two metal pieces in the center of the bridge and a tiny image of a ruthless form appeared in the core of the beam.  “So you have decided to surrender have you?”  The little figure blurted.  “Who are you and what do you want with us?”  Adam asked.  “I am Captain Arthur Griener.  I recognize this ship it was your grandfather’s.  I want the map it was technically mine.  Your grandfather took it from me and it wasn’t his to be giving away, especially to the likes of an amateur such as yourself.”  Captain Griener commanded.  “Regardless what my grandfather took from you, you have no right to attack my ship.  If you don’t back away from my ship I’ll have no choice but destroy yours.  Men lock all weapons and prepare to fire.”  Adam yelled.  “Yes sir, everyone prepare to fire.”  Helmsmen repeated.  “Are you mad?  My scanner shows your ship has taken its toll in damages and besides your vessel isn’t equipped to take my ship down it is too old, and more than likely you don‘t even know how to use your weapons.  You are out gunned.”  Captain Griener announced.“Well if a battle is what you really want, then a battle is what you shall have.  I am not the one that is going to die captain.”  Adam declared.  As both ships were in place to start killing one another, Adam had a notion.  “Wait!  I have an idea. If you are able to neutralize my weapons before I immobilize your armaments, I’ll give you the chest, but if I seize your arsenal first you and your crew have to follow my command.  Only then will you discover where the map determines we stop.  So is it a deal?”  Adam exclaimed.  “I will never admit defeat to the likes of you.  Your grandfather couldn’t surmount me, what makes you think I will submit to you?”  The commander replied.“The fact that you are just as curious as I am to see what is at the end of this here chart.  Now do you want to continue this mêlée or do you want to stop acting like a child and come with us?  The choice is yours to make, it is really up to you.”  Adam replied.Adam attentively glared at the captain through the transmission panel, trusting his stipulations would prevail over the older man’s reasoning.  Adam stood by a few seconds as his crew grew quiet awaiting the Commander’s reply.  Finally, what seemed like minutes were only seconds when a reply perforate their trepidations.  “Alright it is a deal, on one condition.”  He told Adam.  “Yes?”  “I will not take orders from you and I don’t expect you to take orders from me.  Also, if I were to fire upon you the wrong way, I would chance losing the chest that I seek, so this is best for the both of us.”  The commander stated.  “I thank you for your cooperation Commander Griener.  I really look forward to joining you on our expedition.  If you would like to look over our destination flight plans you have my permission to board our vessel.”  Adam advanced to the Commander. “Thank you Commander Ryder.  I will transport to your ship so we may address the approach of our journey in detail.”  The commander replied. As the captain was being transported over to the Spellcaster, the crew voiced their uncertainties about permitting the Commander to view the map.  Adam felt compelled to keep the map hidden himself, but the truth be told they needed another fleet to help them through the vast void of space.  Adam didn’t know who he would run into out here and didn’t know if he would have the man power to fight them off.  Unless, of course, he decided to turn on them and take the map for himself and sided with the enemy in order to take the prized possession he so desperately wanted.  The captain had finely materialized before their eyes.  The older man was somewhat shorter than Adam and broad-shouldered.  He wore a cap on top of his cranium which shrouded his receding hairline.  The older man frowned as Adam extended his hand to welcome the Commander aboard the ship.  The Commander stared at his hand a brief moment then took the offering in a firm grip and smiled at Adam.  “I am delighted to have you aboard the Spellcaster Commander Griener.”  “Please call me Arthur, and I shall call you?”  “I am sorry I am Adam…Adam Ryder.”  “So you are.  Well I am honored to meet you.”  Arthur replied, pausing then continued.  “The name of my ship is the ‘E`clipse fe`minin e’toile fe’minin masculin’.”  Adam scrunched his face up puzzled as to what the Commander had said.  “The name means, ‘Eclipse Star Destroyer’.”  He responded.  “Nice name.  If you would like to follow me into the conference room where we can sit down and look over the chart, I can show you our destination. “Adam pronounced.  The commander nodded and motioned his hand for Adam to lead the way.  They took a seat at the far end of the large rectangular table and Adam pulled out the gadget which showed the route they needed to take through the galaxy.  The commander was astonished at the findings of the map and gazed over at Adam.  “Do you know how many people would kill for this map?”  Arthur told him.  “I am sure a lot of people.”  Adam responded.  “This map contains secrets and a pathway to forbidden places that no one has ever returned from except for your grandfather.”  “So you are ready to get on with the journey?”  Adam asked.  Arthur slammed his hand onto the table and replied, “Let’s do it.”  “How many battles do you think we are going to face on our course?”  “Well to be honest, I really don’t know.  Your grandfather was known by many and a fortune-hunter such as him, I am sure, has made a reasonable amount of adversaries.  We will have to work together to fight whatever comes our way.”  Arthur told him.  He stood followed by Adam.  “Thank you so much for helping me, us in finding what is at the end of this map and I am sorry that my grandfather has wronged you.”  “You are a good lad.  I would be privileged to work with you.  Well any way, I really should be getting back to my ship.  I am glad that we were able to meet and talk this conflict through.  I will follow you, you just lead the way.”  Arthur advised him.  He then pressed a button on his wrist band and was immediately transported back to his ship where he plotted the same course as Adam to the Alpha Sector.  Adam made his way back to the bridge only to instruct the crew to get some rest.  “It is going to be a long day tomorrow and we all need to be on our toes.”All but a few of the crew went to bed.  The events of the last two hours played over in their heads.  They couldn’t believe that they were under attack and almost blown to smithereens.  Adam opened the sliding door to his sleeping quarters to find Eve fast asleep.  He lay down on the bed beside Eve, wrapping an arm over her tiny waist.  She shifted at the sudden contact and rotated until she was facing him.  “Is everything okay?  I noticed that we are in still one piece.”  She sleepily muttered.  He reached up to brush a ringlet out of her face and leaned in to kiss her lips.  She invited the bitter sweet kiss allowing him to part her lips.  His tongue brushed hers as his mouth possessed every inch of her opening.  He pulled away only to answer her question.  “Yeah…the Commander of the ship that was attacking is now on our side and is going to follow us to the destination point on the chart.  So what do you think of your first day in space?”  He asked her.  “Getting married to you was exciting, but it would have been better if we didn’t almost get shot out of space.”  “Yeah, I was sweating bullets for a second there.  Everything worked out though and I am glad you are safe.”  He whispered in her ear.  She smiled at his humor, and cupped his cheek in the palm of her hand.Adam turned over onto his back and Eve rested her head on his chest.  She glided her hand down to Adam’s hardened abdomen and tenderly stroked its level muscular exterior.  Adam kissed her forehead and closed his eyes.  Eve listened to his rhythmic breathing and the sound of his heart beat as she too closed her eyes.  Sleep took over leaving them to their dreams of what tomorrow would bring.

Morning in space was like a dark blanket over time.  If you didn’t have a watch or calendar you were out of luck as to what day it was or what time you had.  The alarm clock which blared throughout their room called out morning.  The excitement from the previous day brought forth a layer of exhaustion Adam felt imperative to brush off as he strained to get out of bed.  Eve stirred, sitting up in the bed rubbing her eyes as she deeply yawned.  “Why is it I never feel like I get enough sleep?”  He proclaimed.  She reached over and touched his back then pulled the covers back to stand up.  “I have no idea.  Maybe we should just sleep the whole day through and let the others plot the course.”  She suggested.  “No.  I can’t do that.  They need some guidance and I am the only one who knows where we are going.”  He told her.  She walked to the bathroom and started the shower up and stripped out of her clothes.  Adam joined her in the shower, embracing her body to his.  He kissed the back of her neck sending a shiver down her spine.  She turned towards him her breasts slightly brushing his chest.  He placed his hand over the undersized swell in her tummy and gazed into her eyes.  He felt a connection with her that seemed stronger than anything he had ever experienced.  The thought of his seed developing inside her, transmitted impetuous tremors all over his body.  She dropped her hand over his and grinned up at him.  He leaned down and kissed her soft lips at first gentle then more desperate to obtain ownership over her, heart and soul.  He lifted her up and pressed her body against his.  Eve loved him very much and moaned with delight in the heat of passion.  Eve cried out Adam’s name hoping she could savor the enjoyment of their lovemaking.  Adam quickly dressed, while Eve finished her shower.  He was already running late and wanted to round up the crew for their first meeting so they might brainstorm any tribulations they might come across.  “Any suggestions on our game plan for the day?”  He asked.  Josh raised his hand and spoke up when Adam nodded.  “I say we stay on the course we are now.  We are only a few days away from Alpha Sector and we can fuel up there and regroup.  That is if we travel at light speed, but I don’t know if Commander Griener’s ship would be able to keep up.”  “Helmsmen, get Arthur on the monitor and let him know we are going to light speed and see if he will be able to stay on course with us.”  “Yes sir.”  “Did anyone figure out our next clue on the star chart after Alpha Sector?”  Adam asked.  “No, the mapping program on the mainframe won’t allow us access to the information on the star chart until phase one is complete.”  One of the crew members stated.  “My grandfather always did love games.  Let’s see if we can break the chart down and try to decode it.  Unfortunately my grandfather was an intelligent man and if a piece of the puzzle is missing, even a tiny sliver, it could take years to crack.”  “We don’t have that long.”  Another crew member blurted.  “I know we don’t have that long so let’s get busy and see if we can find any hidden messages beyond the chart’s surface.”  Adam
