Way back then a group called the Kingston Trio recorded a hit song.

Some of the lyrics went something like this.

"where have all the flowers gone

long time passing

where have all the flowers gone

long time ago."

On looking back through the large archive of writings by BooksieSilk writers from about 2012 to about 2018 I am awestruck at the number of really good writers who no longer or rarely write on this site anymore.

These writers had a natural flair for captivating a large reader base with the corresponding thousands of "reads" and double digit positive dedicated fan base critiques.Particulary in the short story categories and poetry.

I am not "knocking" todays writers as they are really good and do their best. From my observations over a short time span "in fact" but covering a frame of about six years Silk appears to need these "originals" to start writing again for a period of time.Of course it may also be true that the readers demographics of this site have changed over the past six or so years. If this is the case then I stand corrected on my views.

Silk "splintered off" from the main site Booksie somewhere around ten years ago I would estimate. It is solely for those writers who wish to write content in a sexual way. There are of course some exceptions.

I have been positively "gobsmacked" at many of the inspiring contributions back in that period from around 2012 to 2018.I really feel that I have woken up from a delightful literary dream afterwards.

I see only about three of those in my research from what I call "the golden era of Silk" who still actually "post" regularly.I see the names of many of the past "greats" come up from time to time. From what I can see though mostly in the "comments" category.

This seems to be one of the truly great internet writing sites even today about ten years "down the track".However the past should be a true indicator of the future as we all know. The recent past over the last couple of years seems to indicate to me that Silk really does need an injection of good old fashioned "past writers".Making a "comeback" for a short period of time may in fact ensure the longevity of Silk as a great writing site in my opinion.
