Their smiles were massacred by their own fears and thirst to leave the village. They said they were cursed by their ancestors but none of them actually witnessed the truth. Since then, they lived their lives as a prey of the dangers of the desert. There's nothing left for them but to flood the desert by their sadness in order to feel their existence.

The day after the night when the wolves howled a few villagers went missing. There was blood all over the fence and on some houses' walls. They poured tears on their hands and felt pinched in their hearts. They let their heart burn and let their tears become their face.

That day, they marched their naked feet on the burnt soil of the unforgiving desert and carved the names of those who became one with the desert on a stone to bury their pain together with the people who buried them with misery. They lit their candles and said farewell to those bodies whose never coming back. And so their tears run to meet the ground to evaporate, to disappear and to be forgotten. That was the funeral of the ones they loved and the funeral of their hopes and dreams and now their fears devoured them whole.

Another fatal night passed, more houses were emptied. That day five men volunteered to become the eyes of the village. The villagers worried for those brave men but at the same time, they felt safe at every word they spill.

When the sun finally set to slumber, the villagers run and hide themselves. And those men who labeled themselves as watchers wandered around and guarded the village. But that night the howls of the wolves never been heard nor seen their bodies to raid the village.

When the sun rises they rejoiced and give thanks to the watchers of the village. But everyone knew that, that night is not the only night that the watchers will witness to live.

Another day was born after the wild evening died the watchers were no where to find.

Their eyes flooded their cheeks and they wept until afternoon. That is when they decided to wall the village. They demolished the unoccupied houses and begin imprisoning themselves and forbidding everyone from going beyond those walls.

That night they heard the howling of the wolves. They hid their bodies under their blankets and prayed that the wolves wouldn’t reach them. And because of that wall, for twenty years they maintained the safety of the villagers, and after that day, the howls of the wolves was never been heard ever again until someone made a hole on the wall.

A young lady went through that hole she made when following her fallen yarn that met with the body of the desert. Outside the village, she found a hole in the ground; there she met a boy who got stuck underground, the boy who she fell in love with. Every night she goes out from the village to talk with that boy, but one night only silence met with him.

That night a man and a woman visited him and brought him a raw meat on a large plate. He pulled out his arms and ate like a hungry creature who tastes a fresh meat for the first time.

With his stomach full he waited for the young lady to come and share thoughts with him again, but the girl never came back. He waited ten years for her but she never came, so he held his hands and bit through his skin and flesh to cut his veins and bled to death.

After a few years, there’s no more life left at the village just a hungry group of people who lives beneath it.
