is there a reason?

This is about a lost love .Life given up for doing what a man should do. Taking care of obligations .

To look into those eyes . see that smile . Sometimes you wonder why you were put on this earth.

In sixty odd years that I have been here . What great things have I done?

Is there only my name to be remembered ? A picture to look at in a album.

No fame or riches . I do have children to love . And to carry on my name.

But in this world I have not found happiness.

Though it might have been within reach. I could not grasp it.

And with years dwindling to a make me wonder why. Or is it too late.

Good times . There were a few. Lives intwined around mine.

Warm flesh against mine. Hearts offered. Lives offered.

But just chosen for a short while. Life changing loves.

Smiles not only in the face. But in the heart too.

Of those that touched me. And those that I touched.

It is funny that the holding of a hand can bring back youth.

A kiss can open up a whole universe. Thank you for letting me be there.

Even for a short while.

A love you never knew was there . But made you so happy when you found out it was.

For mine was there also. Only fear of rejection kept you from saying the words

Words too late. Many years too late.

Passion can be at it's highest . But fades away as years go by.

No longer to be found again. alas I try.

A look can offer you a night. Or a lifetime of nights.

To live a dream each day and make them come true every night .

To really know that you are wanted there.

This would mean the world to me.

You and thousands of others search but never find true happiness
Those few that do find it are envied by those of us who don't.

You are so right . But we try and make the best out of the lives we have. Never ,ever give up.

It is never too late. Happiness is a state of being that is fickle true, but not impossible if you are open to it. It may only be found within yourself. People and things are temporal but love is everlasting. Having it, a gift to be cherished. Too late? Not as long as you cast a breath, it never is and that means with each new day no matter how many there are because we never know if these ticking moments lead up to the last, we have the chance to find what we seek in whatever form it may come. So for you I say keep seeking, be open, and in dreams keep believing you may find what you desire where you least expect it.

Lovely how you relay all this, TEP. So well written. Quite thoughtful and emotional too. Thanks for sharing this!
