So much to tell I find it hard to figure out where to start, but I suppose it's best to start with a little about me.  My name of record is Jonathan Robert  Thomas.  Yeah, three first names right?  Not my fault, my parents were a little out there.  Now though, except for a billion or so computer entries about me, I am known as JonTom or JT.  Easier on the ears anyway right?  A few years back I was a top tier wetware/machine integration doctor and developer for AceMedTech Corp in northern Illinois city-state of Chicago.

I'm about 40, age is not really that much an issue anymore after all, stand about six foot even, 200 pounds in fair shape but not the gym type of body.  A mop of red hair and green eyes make me hard to miss on the street, well that and my usual dress is your standard green scrubs.  Yeah, low maintenance, lazy, whatever.

Now let's talk about the way the world is now.  We all know back in the early 2000's things had already pretty much headed down the toilet, everyone was fighting everyone, governments all over were out of control, corrupt.  The economy was just as bad, market up and down like crazy, people making billions one day, losing more the next.  The US had raised a generation of entitled brats, (yeah, that means me too), and there were riots and shootings everywhere because someone felt somehow slighted by someone else.

That was the set up of course, a major change requires a catalyst and we had two in 2014.  Russia got pushy and started taking back some of the old USSR, claiming it was trying to save their citizens.  In the US our president had lost all credibility and threw a fit, declaring marshal law, an attempt at keeping himself in office forever.  That lasted about three weeks before one of his own secret service body guards could not take it and unloaded his 9mm into the back of his head.

To say chaos was started would put it mildly.  When the dust cleared the corporations had taken over the government. Yeah not much different than it was before but we had eliminated the middle man of the whole congress, senate, courts and all that expenditure.  For the most part the larger cities kind of merged or blended, as an example, New York City was a big ass apple now, pretty much all of Jersey and into Philly were consolidated into it.  Chicago was pretty much everything in a circle out to what used to be Peoria, into Indiana and most of the lower peninsula of Michigan.  California was three sections, DFW in Texas was another, you get the idea, and the same event had happened worldwide.

The cities themselves were unofficially divided into four parts. The uptown, all the corporation building, glitzy entertainment and such, not many actually lived there except the richest. Midtown was the home for all the corp employees mostly, commuting by monorail daily or doing the telecommute thing.  Downtown was the service bunch, mostly apartment living, the folks that took care of the corp people with money.  Edgetown, yeah, where I am now, mostly minimally policed slums, people that did not work for the corps or support of them, gangs, regular gunfights, regular old west shit, with cyborgs and high powered weapons.

Out beyond that were the farms, mostly robotics, planting, harvesting taking care of the livestock and crops that fed the cities.  There were a few people out there, things still broke and the occasional human interaction was needed and such.

Anyway, now you have a vague picture of my world, how about we get to the actual story now?
