Chapter One:  More Bad News

Brandon was patrolling his packs borders when he heard barking in the distance.  He recognized the shrill barks of the hunting dogs.  The humans would be close behind on horseback with bows and arrows. Their dogs would chase the prey until it was tired or cornered and the humans would shoot the animal.  Brandon changed back to wolf form and ran to warn the rest of the pack knowing the hunting dogs would be a big problem.  The humans have no idea that we are shape shifters but the hunting dogs use smell to hunt prey and will not be fooled.  The pack, in human form, would all go into their homes before the dogs arrive.  The hunters would be confused as to why the dogs stopped to bark at the humans inside.

Brandon arrived in plenty of time to warn everyone.  All of the pack members gathered in their main hall as the barking came closer.  The young shape shifters would shift into wolf form defensivly so their parents hid them in the cellar as the humans approached.  Alex, Brandon's father, meet the hunters at the front door.  The dogs were growling at Alex but a stern look had them putting their ears back in submission.  The hunters asked if Alex had seen their prey.  Alex told them that they were having a church meeting, only stopping at the sound of the dogs.  The hunters were satisfied with the answer and called the dogs off and left.

Recent human encroachment at the edges of their land has the pack ready for war.  The werewovles that are Brandon's family are far outnumbered by the humans who only cared about expansion and power.  The humans are not yet aware of our presense.  Those that do believe, think that we can only change on a full moon, and stay inside on those nights.  An all-out war would probably lead to humans knowing about us, banding them together to destroy what they fear before returning back to fighting amonst themselves.

Brandon's father Alex, the pack's alpha male, turned to hear the pack in a heated discussion about the latest human encroachment.  Alex calmed everyone down with out saying a word by speaking to them with his thoughts.  Trueblood werewolves could reach out mentally to each other.  This allowed Brandon to warn everyone when he was a mile or so away from their village.  Alex spoke: "We have to put plans into effect to deal with the humans.  The king's men are hunting in these woods.  They come deeper and deeper due to the settlementts that are moving closer to our mountain homes.  Their dogs realize that we are not the same as their human masters and bark at us like the prey they chase for the humans.  Even the humans will eventually realize that something is pecular.  We have developed a several phase plan to push the humans back off our lands."

Phase one intails capturing all of the kings dogs whichwill be housed on the outskirts of the royal grounds.  We intend to make it look like several large bears broke into the barn and killed all the dogs.  We will quickly muzzle the dogs and get them in the back of our wagons.  We will train our distance cousins to love us and be loyal to us from our mountain cave.  They will learn to never chase prey onto our land again.  We will take the dogs back to the king in the spring, telling him that the dogs needed medical help and food.  That gives us the whole winter for retraining the dogs also allowing us to keep several for breeding.

Phase two will invovle raids into the king's closest neighbors lands while dressed like the king's men.  We will take provisions, burn the houses to the ground, and the humans that survive will report the act of war to their king.  We will do the same to the human's nearest our mountain homes. This should make both sides believe they were attacked by the neighboring kingdom.  This will give us some of our land's back and ensure that our king will go to war with the other kingdom.  We will be able to pillage from both sides while also assisting the losing side in each battle with the goal of draining the resources of both sides.

The following phases depend upon how well the first phases go, so get some rest.  Tommorow we set out to capture the king's dogs, freeing our imprisoned cousins.  Our trading wagons will not arouse suspisions.  Anyone that sees us gathering up the dogs must be killed.  The thunderstorms should muffle the sounds and drastically limit visibility.  Alex gave orders to our pack mates, knowing this would invovle the whole pack of fifty strong.

Brandon's mom, Storm, would be finishing dinner by the time he arrived home.  Brandon said:  "Smells great mom, where is Ashley?"  Storm said:  "Ashley is in her room trying to figure out how to sneak out to be part of tommorow's mission."  Brandon said:  "Dad will not risk her getting hurt and she will be furious."  Storm said:  "Perhaps I can convince her to stay and prepare for any wounded pack mates.  Ashley will not want her boyfried Bruce getting hurt or having another girl tending to his wounds...  Smiling knowlingly."  Brandon:  "Mom, I don't want to hear any of the mushy details."

They all sat down and had a quiet meal.  No one was talking becasue tommorow started a potentially dangerous mission.  Everyone had complete faith in Alex.  Ashley helped Mom clean up while Brandon and Alex went into the study.  Alex bounced all the plans off Brandon one final time.  alex also covered backup plans.  When he felt that Brandon was prepared, he hugged him, and sent him to bed.  Alex closed his eyes as he hugged Storm.  She was still as beautiful as the day he met her so many years ago.

The wagon rolled down the mountainside towards the city, holding nets and muzzles for all of the dogs.  The rain was falling in sheets, leaving the road empty of other travelers.  Alexander and Brandon were driving the wagon, the rest of the pack was in wolf shape following along amoung the large trees that surrounded the road.  Alexendar covered the details with Brandon and the rest of the pack without speaking.  The wagon rolled up to the street full of shops, shop owners staying under cover whiel the rain continued to fall.  Alex waved to the the shop owners that they knew as the pulled up to the Foothills tavern.  They let the stable boy take the wagon to shelter, feeding the cold tired horses.  The tavern was a decent restauant by day and a brothel by night.  Alexander smiled watching Brandon's eyes bulge as the waitress came to take their order.  Her corsett pushed her already large breasts into plain view.  Brandon stuttered when asked what he wanted but was able to brieflly look the waitress in the eyes and order.

The remaining pack mates arrived in small groups to eat and dry off.  Alexander knew they all deserved a break.  The astute Tavern owner called more ladies down from upstairs, seeing financial gain on what should have been a slow day.  The women were pleased to see so many young strong men, working their charm and cleavage taking many of the pack upstairs to do what they do best.  Brandon wanted to see what it was like as well but was nervous to talk with ihs dad about it.  He had never been with a shapeshifter or a human woman and the waitress looked as pretty as any woman he had ever seen.  She drew the attention of everyone in the bar, black hair, deep blue eyes, incredible smile, and her jiggling breasts.  She appeared to only have eyes for Brandon, smiling at him every time she walkd by his table.
