Marilyn

Ian got a call from his longtime friend, Cathy. “Hey, you! I have a favor to ask.”

“What is it?”

“I have a friend in town Saturday and she's meeting friends at the oldies dance club for drinks and she would like some male company. She's an attorney and very nice and pretty.”

“Sounds alright. What time and day?”

“Saturday at seven. She'll pick you up in front of your place. She'll be driving a midnight blue Mercedes.”

“Okay. I have no plans. Saturday at seven and a blue Mercedes. Got it.”
“She's one of my closest friends, so take it easy on her, you dirty old man!”

“Hey, you're as old as I am.”

Cathy paused and then said, “But you're going to own up to the rest?”

“Why not? Sex isn't really dirty and I am a man, you dirty old woman.”

“Shut up and don't be late!”

Saturday evening was cool and breezy. Just right for the new sport coat he had just bought. He was ready about 15 minutes early and stood by the curb five minutes til the hour. He saw a dark Mercedes make a left at the light to his left. It pulled up in front of him and he bent down to say hello to the driver and saw a familiar face. His family had known his since birth and since they lived close, they had spent some time together and attended the same high school. He got in quickly and said, “Marilyn Rodgers, is that really you?”

“Guilty as charged. How long has it been, Ian?” As soon as she saw him, she began thinking he was the man to be included in her 'situation'.

“The last time I think I saw you was at our high school graduation ceremony. You can go now the traffic is coming again. Take the first left. That should take you to the highway.”

“It might be a couple hours later than that. I recall it was at our all night grad party.”

“That's right! I stand corrected. The last time I saw you, you looked like a high school girl. Mother Nature has certainly turned you into a very attractive woman.”

“Thank you! You're not looking too bad yourself.”

“I hear you're getting married soon. How does that square with having a date tonight?”

“That requires some explanation. I have to ask you not to disclose to anyone what I'm going to tell you. You see I met Richard when I handled his divorce. After it was over, he invited me and a friend of his, Charles, to a celebratory dinner at his place. He confided to me that Charles was actually his gay lover and that his ultra conservative family was quite inquisitive about his sexual orientation. He suggested we create a sham marriage to discourage his family's nosy nature. Here's the club. She parked on the street and looked for a parking space in the lot. He said, you'd better stay here. The lot looks full.”

She continued, “He would be written out of his grandparent's wills if they found out, too. He is concerned about listening to his family's BS and he stands to inherit millions. He offered me a nice piece of change in exchange for my help. I found no legal or personal reasons to say no and I can date anyone I want, discretely, of course. After he gets his inheritance, I've agreed to a clean, almost costless divorce. Got all that?”

“Yep. Sham marriage, nosy family, you're going to date, keep my mouth shut. That it?”

“Couldn't have said it better myself.”

“That's it? Why the hell would I want to tell anyone? That kind of information doesn't even raise any eyebrows these days.”

She chuckled a bit. “I don't know but I have to have your secrecy. What are you doing these days that you can afford a house?”

“I'm a professor of anthropology at Oak Knoll University.”

“Okay, Professor. Let's get inside and find my friends. It's margarita night. I want to get one.”

The club was quite full and there wasn't any music playing yet. They didn't find her friends right away. “I'm looking but how will I know its them?”

“You'll know Theresa by her plentiful, bright red hair. There's not much that distinguishes Mario's appearance, but you'll know Theresa for sure!”

“Is that them by the bar?”

“Yeah.” They disappeared into the crowd just after she saw them. She grabbed her cell phone and called Theresa.

“Marilyn?!”

“Yeah. We're by the front door.”

“Well come to you. You'll never get through this crowd.”

“Can you get us a couple margaritas on the way?”

“None for me,” Ian said.

“Just one margarita. Ian's not having one.”

“Okay. Be there soon.”

They found them after some serious negotiating through the crowd.

“What's with the music?” Ian asked.

“Something is wrong with the sound system. The DJ is working on it,” Theresa answered. “This is my friend, Mario.”

“Hello, Mario,” Ian said. “Pleased to meet you. What’s that patch on your jacket, Mario? It looks like something from Mexico”

“It's the logo of the Mexican consulate. I'm a Mexican national and I work there.”

The ladies had their own chat. Theresa said, “If they don't get some music soon, we'll be leaving. It's our regular date night. So your blind date seems to be working out nicely, Marilyn.”

“He 's not exactly a blind date. We've known each other forever,. Tonight is just a coincidence that we saw each other again.”

“Then, he's the one, your playmate for the foreseeable future?”

“Exactly! Starting tonight, I hope.”

“I'm sure it will be. I've seen the way he's been checking you out.”

“Good start! I think I'll get things started right now.”

“Good luck!”

Marilyn didn't have to wait long for her desired results to start forming.

Ian said “Since you're going to be dating, I was wondering if I could have a date sometime. I'd like to be first in line.”

“We could consider tonight our first date. Would that suit you?”

“Sure would.” He placed his hands on her waist. Just then the music came on.

It had a soft, bluesy kind of sound to it. Marilyn rubbed her bottom against his crotch and said, “We've got a lot to talk about, Sweetie.”
