Chapter 1

My name is Sabrina Campbell. I am twenty-one years old and I work as an account executive for a local Top 40 radio station. I handle some of the advertising accounts for the commercials you hear that likely annoy you in between songs. Irritating probably, but necessary to pay the bills at the station. It can be a fun job, and can seem glamorous to those on the outside. But honestly, it's a lot of hard work, long days that sometimes bleed over into the night, and I feel at times like I'm begging or selling part of myself. Yeah, oh so glamorous. But I guess the part that my friends and others see about working for a big popular station is the freebies, access afforded to the employees by the clubs and venues around town, the concerts and mainly.....meeting the artists. But, I'm rarely at the station; I'm out selling "airtime”. So when the best times to meet the bands occur at the station during their interviews and special performances, I'm usually long gone, off to an account. Boo. But this one day, I got lucky…..

I pulled into the station and the only slot available was in front of the huge window of the main control room. Our station was a little hard to find and not in a place where you may expect, hidden among some buttoned-down affluent businesses in a plush business park. I was gathering my paperwork and then got out of my car only to lose said paperwork by having it slide back out of my leather folder. I sighed. I was glad my day was close to being over. I put my knee on the driver’s seat and halfway climbed in to retrieve the papers. A low wolf-whistle sounded behind me. I rolled my eyes and backed out of the car to see what pervert was behind me. Instead I cracked a big smile.

"Hey you! How ya been?!" I asked as I was gathered into a bear hug by a tall, blond athletic-looking guy.

"Better now! You don't know how you've made my day....heck, my week! Yeah, that'll last me a good long while....." My friend Jace had let go of me and was rubbing the back of his neck and squinting into the distance smiling a blinding white smile.

"Wait, how badly did I flash you?! I knew I should have come up with pepper spray instead!" I eyed him evilly back, sticking him in the chest with my nail.

"What's done is done little lady,” he laughed as he tried to side step my pokes.

"Let's just say…..loving the choice in lingerie today! See ya!" He turned and ran quickly, laughing the whole way back towards a block of offices where he worked in his father’s law firm.

I'd known Jace for just over a year and we'd become best friends almost immediately. Then about three months ago during one drunken night, things got a little carried away. Almost into the bedroom. We had recovered from it mostly, but since then I'd felt.....pressured somewhat by him to try something more out of our relationship. But I was wary to. I didn't want to lose such a dear friend. So I'd been tap-dancing around the subject and even making up excuses recently to not hang out with him so we wouldn't find ourselves in that situation again. Besides, I was recently out of a relationship that my job at the station was killing. He'd said the job had taken over my life. But if I wanted to prove that I was worthy of the position, I had to commit to a lot as the "low man on the totem pole" as it was known in business. So, we were kaput.

I finished tidying my papers in my business folder on top of my car, grabbed my work tote and my Coke and was about to shut the door to my Mustang, when I was tapped on the shoulder.

"Sorry baby, no hand jobs in the parking lot," I sing-songed out thinking that Jace had come back for a repeat performance.

"I don't think that's possible,"a light female's voice said from behind.

Startled, I turned around and saw a very cute girl in front of me, dressed in really short jean shorts and a bright pink top with a deep v neck, showing off ample cleavage. The kind you pay money for. No, I'm not being a bitch. I've got some big girls too. It's just that mine move. Anyway, she smiled and introduced herself as Sherri, and she wanted me to work on a commercial for her and her friends at The Gold Club. It was a local "dancing" establishment, the type embellished with a pole or two. She and I passed a few ideas back and forth, I jotted them down and then we exchanged business cards. I checked my calendar on my iPhone and set a date to meet again. She put out her arm as if to hug me, so I hugged her. We laughed again about me offering her a hand job. We parted ways and I finally went inside the radio station. The hugging a client I didn’t know as a personal friend was a little strange. But she was the one who reached out with the hug and I wasn't going to leave her hanging. I was about to find out why she wanted the hug.
