It was a mistake, you said. But the cruel thing was, it felt like the mistake was mine, for trusting you. I knew from that moment on I had to always expect the unexpected.

He wasn’t even sure what had come over him. All he knew was that he felt guilty as fuck just leaving her there. Alone. He looked back down at her passport and I.D that was clutched in between his finger. A snake-like grip one the only thing he would have to remember her by. He had to make sure she had no way of getting back to the states. He was doing it all for her safety and he was sure she would never want to talk to him again. He was now halfway across the world. To be exact he was over Paris getting ready to cross over the Russian border. His thoughts still lingered to her. She was most likely still asleep in Leeches beach home in aware of him not being around him. But when she woke up she would go crazy. Curse him and spite him forever. She would realize that he left her in Nicaragua completely stranded. And he would hate himself forever. Until he worked up the courage to see her again. When that would be he didn’t know. Maybe five, six years. Maybe thirty… Or maybe he would never go to see her.

She reached over to touch him just to know he was there. When she did she felt nothing but a cold space in the bed. Immediately sitting up and looking around the room she was in alert mode. He was nowhere to be found. She quickly grabbed the gun from under her pillow taking the safety off and cocking the gun back. She wonders around the small house for a while before realizing… It was empty. So eerily quiet she could hear the house creak and the sound of ocean waves crashing on the shore. It was only mere feet away from the safe house they currently occupied. She didn't take it as hard as she thought she would. But that was seconds before the denial set in. Then panic, then anger, and finally depression quickly followed suit. She quickly ran to the safe punching in the code opening it only to reveal its emptiness. It was just like her heart at the moment void of everything. No PassPort or I.D to get home. Only a few thousand dollars and a note that read:

I’m Sorry. - Hikaru

The note was candid and left no room for doubt as she sat there staring at it for what felt like hours. She had never felt more disappointed and used at the same time in her life. After everything, they had gone through. The trails the tribulations, the wars they waged with their enemies to their night filled passions. She wanted to scream, cry and laugh all at the same time. He had left her behind. She couldn’t believe that he really left without a word. She just sat there on the living room floor for hours in utter disbelief, shock, and horror. Hoping that he would come back or she would wake up from the nightmare, but she never did and he never showed up. This was her new reality.
