Because ‘Hooked’ wasn’t supposed to have a sequel, I had to think on my feet a bit, but I’ve made it work and I am really happy with the storyline I have planned out. This story kind of follows on after Season 3A of Once Upon a Time, although I changed a few bits. I have explained as much as I can in the story but basically, instead of Peter Pan and the Lost Boys going back to Storybrooke with Emma, Hook, Regina etc. they are still in Neverland. And so Mr. Gold is still alive too. For those who don’t watch Once Upon a Time, you can still follow the story, there’s just a few reference that might go over your head. Feel free to ask me about them and I’ll try my best to answer them :P

By the way, I haven’t watched Season 3B yet so please no spoilers! Haha.

Chapter 1

“How are we not all soaked?” I ask after getting my bearings. The Jolly Rodger had just- somehow- soared into the air from the whirlpool Hook had created with his magic bean and landed back perfectly on the sea, with a rather large splash. A different sea I imagine…from the stories I have heard about magic beans. We’re in another realm. Another world.

Water is sloshing back and forth across the deck and everyone seems a little out of sorts. But we’re not as wet as we should be in our situation. My clothes- well, Hook’s clothes- are stuck to me but that was because I was hauled to the floor where the water lapped up and over me. My hair damp at the top but is like a wet curtain against my chest.

Hook, groaning as he pulls himself back up to the wheel, answers me once he’s on his unsteady legs. “We are.” He shakes himself like a dog, making water droplets spray everywhere.
“Did we just…travel through the sea? We should all be overboard.”
“Maybe some of us are, I haven’t done a headcount,” he replies, resting against the wheel, drawing out long ragged breaths through gritted teeth. His short black hair has collected the water and now sticks out in all different angles like spikes.

Suddenly, his words sink in and I run to the steps and look down at the deck. I scan the men that are wobbling around like drunks. Johnson and Lenny are there, helping Winston up off the floor. There are a few more men I don’t know the names of checking themselves over for wounds. And then my heart thumps when I spot him, sat on a barrel, ringing out his ponytail with a look of pained irritation. His white shirt -that is also Hook’s- is soaked through, making his nipples and the ridges of his abs clearly visible. Dimitri.

 He’s alive.
He’s safe.
That’s all I care about.
But maybe I need to focus on other things like…
“Where the hell are we?” I turn back to Hook. My wet hair flies over my shoulder and almost slaps me in the face. The captain is still resting, using his whole body weight against the wheel to turn it. His knuckles are white and the gems of his rings gleam in the sunlight the peaks through the clouds. “Is this Neverland?”

He laughs, shaking his head like it is a stupid question. I set my jaw, holding back my anger. “No.” His emerald eyes shine up at me and then behind me. Something changes in his face, sending shivers crawling up my spine. It’s as if every trace of humour, of any sort of positive emotion is stripped away, leaving raw and irrefutable fear. He nods, signalling me to turn around. I gulp and do so. A lonely island sits not too far away, green with high trees and what looks like a large bank of sand framing it. Heavy, dark clouds sit above it as if watching over it. The sun that bathes us, crisping our clothes, drying our hair…it seems to dodge the island as if too afraid to even make an attempt to go near it. “That’s Neverland.”

“Wh-what exactly are we doing here?” I don’t know if my stutter was from the creeping sensation the island was giving me or my wet clothes giving me the shivers, but I suddenly feel as if I want to hide. To get away. To leave Neverland before I’ve even set foot on it.
Hook jerks the wheel, making the ship lean precariously and start to make its way to the island head on. He sets his jaw with a look of dark determination.
“I swore I’d never come here again. I’ve cheated my way off far too many times already. For all I know, this may be the time that I don’t outsmart him and he has me trapped forever.” A muscle in his cheek flexes.
“Who?” I step forwards then grab the bannister when the ship quakes a little. “Who are you talking about?” I gulp and my blood runs cold. “What is this place you are taking us to?”
“Hell,” he states tersely. “Well, it might as well be.”
I sink against the bannister. “I did not pass up the opportunity to leave this ship just so you could get me killed on a creepy island.” I stab my finger in the direction of Neverland, but I keep my eyes fixed on Hook. There’s that mischievous glint in his eyes when he grins at me, that look that I know and it oddly reassures me.

“I gave you a choice. It’s not my fault you chose wrong.”
I turn and look back down at Dimitri who has now taken out the band from his hair so his wet, blonde curls tumble down. He shakes his head and scrunches his fists in his hair, still attempting to ring out the excess water. “I didn’t chose wrong. I just think…maybe I should have asked some more questions first.”
Hook laughs. “Yeah, that would have been wise. But I guess you were just so thrilled to spend more time with me that you just forgot everything else.”
I laugh at his delusions and shake my head. “Yeah, that’s totally it.”
“Make sure the ship is alright, lads!” he calls down to the deck. “We can’t have her failing on us!” He gulps and looks down with wide, fearful eyes. “I’m not getting stranded here…” he mumbles.
I watch him for a moment, caught between being curious and terrified. “How exactly is this place hell?”
His eyes flit up to me. “Because it’s the home of the devil.”
I let out a nervous laugh. “The devil, really? Okay, I believe in magic because I’ve seen it. But do you actually want me to believe that the devil is real?”
“He is real, Rose,” he states with absolute conviction. “He may look like a boy. But he’s the devil.”
“But who is he? What’s his name?”
A shudder passes through him. “Peter Pan.”
