Chapter1 (v.1)

Author Chapter Note

The story starts off as a very routine day. Only later will you read of a twist. ((Author's Note: I am working on the next section as we "speak." A lot of the story has been written, but there are parts I have skipped so I could go back and spend a little time on them. This applies to the next chapter. Guess I better get crackin'! ;) I hope you all enjoy!))

As I laid in our full sized bed all warm and snuggled up to my love in the apartment that I longed for so much, I ran my fingers through his hair. Oh, how I loved him with every ounce of blood that entailed my body. I sat up and watched him sleep, so peacefully. I turned to the alarm clock and in lime green lit digits, it read 8:02. Monday already? Geez, I really gotta get ready. He felt my movement so he pulled himself so that his head rested in my lap. I smiled and lightly caressed his face. I bent down to give him a kiss and I whispered into his ear, "I love you, Austin."

I hopped out of bed and King started wagging his tail with excitement as if to say, "potty time! potty time! potty time!" I threw on some PJ pants and hooked his leash to his collar. We walked across the parking lot to reach the grassy field and watched the school age kids walk to their bus as King found a place to do his business. It's so cold today. Why does it have to be this cold with no snow? What's the point? I looked at King gazing across the field and I tugged on his leash, "Come on babe, let’s go back in." We got into the house and I got dressed for work. I gave King a treat, grabbed my lunch, and I was out the door.

Work seemed to go on in its routine fashion. Nothing new today. The minutes went by so slow and I constantly counted down until the clock read "5:00", as I did every day. I can never wait to get home to my boys. No one important came into the office, as if they ever did. A customer walked in with a question on a price and someone else came in looking for a job. Alex greeted the man and then sent him into the boss's office. He was probably not there a full minute before he was walking out of the door and telling us goodbye. He pushed on the door and Alex snickers. The man turned to us and said, "Oops, wrong way." Then he pulled the door and he walked out.

Alex shot a glance at me and said, "It never fails. I swear." You would think our office door was a cruel joker that would not let you pass unless you answered his ridiculously crazy riddles. You push to walk in, but pull to leave? How strange that is. Except for, it isn’t strange at all. Alex and I often made bets on who would go through the door correctly and who would take a few seconds to grasp the concept of the unruly door. This amused us. So, the day went on in agonizing slowness and when it finally hit "4:57" I couldn’t wait any longer. "Well, I'm going to go ahead and leave now, Alex. Have a great night!" He replied, "See ya later, Liz." A day in the life of an informal bookkeeper cannot get any more boring. I hopped into the car and headed home.

Austin's truck was parked in the parking lot. I walked into the house and was greeted by King at the door. Austin welcomed me home with his strong muscular arms and I cuddled with him as he watched his movie. Today was his day off. He looked down to me and asked, "How was your day sweetie?" I replied to him with the same & usual answer, "Fine. Nothing new. How about you?" He continued on about his day. He didn't really do anything, but sleep and relax. He deserved it since he had worked all weekend. On the weekend nights he worked as a bouncer at the bar downtown and sometimes, like this weekend, during the day he'll work for a furniture company moving and delivering furniture. After a while, we ate supper and he made plans to go out with his friends to shoot pool. I told him that I'd like to spend some time with him before he left and this brought out a huge grin on his face. He shot right up off the couch and started off into the bedroom.
