Alex skidded away and drove sharply around the corner where she suddenly came to a halt and parked. Though enraged and just wanted to run away, she couldn’t drive any further; she just wanted to be out of Michael’s sight. At that point, Alex could not help it but start to cry, a cry that came from deep within.  The pain had taken over her.

“Damn her!” she screamed as she hit her palms on the steering wheel. She then gripped it and laid her forehead on her hands. She tried stifling her cries but they just won’t let her be.  Alex cried uncontrollably.

She was home that evening, standing in the shower, and trying to let the horror of the day washed off her but it wasn’t working. She started to cry again. “God, Sasha, you can’t be my sister.” She said and then hugged herself. “This didn’t happen… not again.” At that point, she couldn’t stop sobbing.

Two Weeks Later

Alex was in her father’s office. She was alone, standing behind his desk and looking out to the city. Her hair was in a tight ponytail; she wore a white puffed-sleeve fitted blouse, grey pencil skirt and black peep-toe pumps. Her makeup was very light, au natural. The door suddenly opened and thinking it was her father, she quickly spun around. It was Sasha. Alex tensed up instantly; she slowly turned back to the city and paid her no heed.

Sasha held her bag securely and walked in deeper into the office. She wore a beautiful grey off-shoulder kimono mini dress and heels. Her hair fell over her shoulders.. “Where is Papa? I need to see him.” She said casually.

Alex did not respond; she hardly even budged. Sasha could not care less; she simply turned away and was heading for exit. “What do you get out of it?” Alex suddenly asked. She kept looking out to the city.

Sasha faced her again. She thought she heard wrong. “Excuse me?”

Her sister then looked at her. “I want to know. What do you get out of hurting me? First it was Keith and now Michael?”

Sasha stared at Alex blankly for a couple of second then burst out laughing in her face. “Michael? Are we still on that topic?” She asked. She raised her brows and said, “Michael was never yours to begin with.”

“Do you take pleasure in this?”

Sasha analyzed her sister. A crooked smile slowly formed the corner of her lips. “Were you falling in love with Michael DiNozzo?” She awaited a reply but received none. “Because if you were, what you witnessed that afternoon would have bound to happen; maybe not with me but he would have definitely cheated on you.”

“Why? Because that’d be something you’d do?”

Sasha just kept smiling as she watched her sister from head to toe. She laid her bag gently on Mr. Petrovskii’s desk. “You know, you are real sad case.” She said in her strong Russian accent. “It is not my fault you cannot hold on to the man in your life. If you were uncertain the first time, then this time around should be confirmation that you are total bore – yes?” Sasha slowly made her way around the desk as she spoke and approached her sister. “Do you honestly think you can pop in here whenever you feel like it and distract Papa and me?”

Alex unfolded her arms. “Is that what this is about? Gaining Dad’s attention? Always trying your damnedest to be number one? You’re pathetic.”

Sasha listened and did not like the words that came out from Alex’s mouth. It hurt her and it was very apparent, but then she smiled again. “I’m pathetic?” She folded her arms and scanned her sister once again. “What’s pathetic, Sweet Sister, is fact that you put your heart on line for every man you fuck. What’s pathetic is not living; always calculating. You just keep doing that and see where life takes you.” She paused and scoffed. “I feel so sorry for you. You think you have it all figured out in your bliss American life; go to doctor school, and then get married, have lots and lots of babies – yes? You live in fantasy world. Look at you. You not Petrovskii.” Sasha then did the impossible and tried touching Alex’s cheek. She was actually teasing her. Alex slapped her wrist away which only made Sasha laugh some more. “You say I’m pathetic. Take long hard look in mirror. Try to explain what you see; try to explain this sorry excuse for woman that would be looking back at you.” She paused again. “You not Petrovskii. Petrovskii is not feeble. You are disgrace.” Sasha turned away and grabbed her bag whilst doing so. “Must take it from your mother’s side.” She walked to the door, opened it but then said before she left, “You tell Papa I came by. Have nice day.”

Alex watched as she closed the door behind her. Tears had filled her eyes at that point and slid down her cheek. Alex felt helpless.

Alex found herself seated at the bar area in one of New York’s prominent restaurant later that day. “Excuse me,” She said quaintly to the female bartender. She held an empty glass in her hand. “May I have another?”

The bartender seemed hesitant to oblige. “Ma’am I don’t think-“

“Another,” Alex said sternly, but then broke down her defense. “Please,”

The young woman picked up the liquor bottle on the counter behind her and did as her customer requested.

Time had passed.  Alex slowly opened her eyes. She took in a deep breath, tucked the thick mahogany covers underneath her chin and closed her eyes to get back to sleep. It took about five seconds for her thoughts to accumulate. She quickly sat up and tried to figure out where she was.  She was in a bed, but it was not her bed; that was not her room; that was not her apartment. She quickly looked under the covers to check whether she still had her clothes on and everything was in tact.  She looked around for any clue of where she might be.It was a hotel room, painted off-white with cream rug carpeting. It was clean, broad and with no clutter of much furniture.Alex was definitely worried; there was no sign as to whose place this could be.

She slowly sat up on the bed and froze when she heard footstep approaching from the other end of the bedroom door.Petrovskii held her head slightly. Hangover. She laid her hand on the nearby cabinet for support but only ended up brushing the glass of water situated there as it fell on the floor. There was a sudden thud on the thick carpet and water spilt. It was loud enough to alert whoever was on the other side of that door. She jumped in fright when the bedroom door slowly opened. Her eyes were opened wide with fear, curiosity and fright.

A man stood in the doorway wearing a charcoal suit with black under shirt. He had very dark hair and green eyes. “Good morning, Alex,”
