The world is full of sex, drugs, war and violence

Love being alone listening to the sound of silence

To just read a book or perhaps sit and ponder

Through the woods to the creek, slowly wander

Just the dog and I, to the old swimming hole

A few worms, a bucket and an old fishing pole

Relaxing on the bank, I can stay there for hours

Watching the bees busy amongst the wildflowers

Mosquito's flirting with my float and fishing line

The gentle breeze blowing, this is simply divine

Sun shining down, such a gorgeous spring day

A couple of  sparrows are mating, having a play

The dog and I just lay there on the grassy ground

So quiet that we doze off, neither making a sound

Rover loves the silence too, not once he does bark

He will just lie there quietly until just before dark

That's when we pack up and slowly walk home

Back to the house, wife, kids, noise and telephone

Tomorrow back to work , back to the daily grind

But just for now I'll enjoy the rest of my own time

I really love these days and try to make them a habit

Silence is now broken, Rover has spotted a rabbit

Too slow he is getting and he gives up in a while

He comes racing back to me and I let out a smile

The wife will be glad to see me with a bucket of fish

When I get to the door she will greet me with a kiss

Kids laughing and screaming as they cheerfully play

I chuckle to myself and thank God for a peaceful day
