I never though I'd fall in love again... Especially with my ex Chad kingly. And as he made his way over to me I bit my lips and instantly forgot how angry and how wrong I would feel in the morning. I've always remember falling for the wrong men, but never in my life did I think for a second that I'd fall in love all over again with my ex lover Chad Kingly.

“Damn it!” I mumbled. As I stumbled my way to what should be my new bosses office. I knocked on the door and waited for a response before walking in to find our previous owner, Mrs. Price.

“Ahh Miss. Adams, glad you could make it. Now, you're new owner/boss will be here tomorrow and since you were my assistant I am leaving you in charge for the day; I anticipate that you can get everything in tip top shape... It was a joy being your boss for the 2 years you've worked here Miss. Adams.” She looked at me with the crinkles under her eyes and a smile on her face.
“Like wise.” I smiled before embracing her in a hug. She walked out of the office with her things and left me there to fend for my self. I cleaned up the office so that my new boss would be pleased, grabbed a note-pad, pen and walked out of the office; locking it before I made my way through all 12 building floors. I made my way to the elevator and went through each floor checking to make sure everyone had their things in order for tomorrow. When it was around 8 at night, I locked up the office building and made my way to my house in West wood. But I had to take the bus since I borrowed my best friend Abby my car for the day. I made my way down the street clinging to my jacket until a familiar looking car drove slowly by my side; as an unknown person rolled down the windows.

I stopped in mid walk to get a clear view of the person; Obviously if they knew my name it meant that I should know them.

“Chase?!” I yelled out loudly, probably catching a few people's attention.

“What are you doing walking home all alone this late?”

“Abby has my car.” I admitted embarrassed.

“Get in.” He smiled as he reached over to open the passenger car door for me. I quickly got into the car and strapped my self in as he sped down the road.

“Do you live in the same place?” I nodded causing him to take a left turn on too 20. I looked at him examining his features and boy did those features change for the better. His broad shoulders, deep brown eyes and full lips did wonders for any girl to fall for him. But Chase was Chads brother and I may never think of him in that way. I fiddled with my hand before looking back to him to ask him the question that bothered me the most, but I wasn't brave enough; Instead I leaned back into the car seat.

“So how's life been treating you.” He began, taking a few glances at me before concentrating on the road.

“Its fine. Hustler fashion is number one in the industry and we're getting a new boss tomorrow.” I smiled but that went away when his expression changed to a small frown.

“Whats wrong?”

“Nothing.” He said quickly. I brushed off the awkward feeling and shifted in my seat before taking again.

“So what are you doing back in town?”

“My family moved back here and I just thought, hey why not move back. Right now I'm headed to Chad's place.” he said the last word softly.

I kicked under the dash board in shock causing him to swerve a bit. I cleared my throat and fixed my self back into the car seat, flushed in the brightest shade of pink. I covered my face into my hands, taking deep breaths before looking back up and watching the outside world pass by. I closed my eyes, took a sighed deeply and glanced back at him.

“What made him come back?”

“A job offer.” He said plainly.

“I Is he single?” the words slipped out of my mouth causing me to dread the car ride even more.

“No... Chad likes to test the waters.”

“... Same old jerk.” I mumbled. Time spent in the car with Chase brought back memories, but that all ended when the white gates to house was in view. I lowered the car window and scanned my eyes into the scanner allowing the gate to open. He drove through and went around the round about before parking the car.

“Thanks for driving me home Chase. I'll see you some other time.”

“You're welcome... do you need a ride to work tomorrow?” I he asked making me hesitate.

“No, Abby will be by soon with my car, after all she this is her house... But you may come by after work to have dinner with us if you'd like.”

He smiled. “I'd like that.” He said before driving off. I grabbed my keys out of my bag and unlocked the front door to be greeted by James, Abby's butler

“Hello Miss Veronica.”

“Hello James. Is there anything in the mail for me today?” I asked him tiredly as I walked towards the fridge, opening it up and drinking out of the milk carton.

“No bills, but a vase filled with red roses waiting in your room.” I sighed deeply, thanked him and walked up the spiral stairs to my room. I opened the door and walked right up to my bed before falling lazily onto it and falling asleep from exhaustion.

I woke up to a loud bang on my door that made me jump out of bed; falling to the floor.

“What the fuck..” I cursed out loudly. I stood up from the floor and looked at the time, scurried to the floor and grabbed my towel before opening my bedroom door and running out towards the bath room. On my way out I passed a frustrated Abby who tsk at me as I ran back and forth from the bathroom.

“Don't look at me like that.” I said as I ran passed her a forth time dripping in water.

“You're going to be late and your new boss will fire you!” She yelled.

“Look Abby...” I said as I slipped on a tight fitted black dress with a low drop neck. “... I'm almost done just help me fix my hair and make-up” I groaned as I sat in front of a my bedroom mirror. She walked over to me shaking her head in disapproval before grabbing the curler and getting to work on my hair. I quickly placed my make-up on, grabbed my purse and car keys before running out my room, down the stairs and out the door. I dug through my purse for my sun glasses and placed it on to block the scorching sun out of my still delicate eyes.

“ A friend of mine will be here around 3, keep him busy before I get home. Thanks Abby!” I yelled as I got into my ford fusion, placed the keys in the ignition and skidded out of my driveway. Traffic was a bit faster today so I quickly went on 20 and drove as fast as I could to work. I had about 10 minutes to get to work and traffic was going smooth, until I went to exit. I tapped impatiently at the steering wheel, and hit the gas as soon as the light shun green. I rolled my eyes angrily as I began to hit all the red lights. Boy was I going to get fired if I didn't show up on time today. The final light before my turn had finally shun green I quickly made a mad dash through the light, entered the business lot and drove to my parking spot in the shade. I quickly got out of the car slam the door shut and pressed the lock button on the keys before walking to the building, tripping at lest twice before making it to the door.

“Good morning Miss Smith.” Adam said while smiling at me. I flashed him a quick smile before walking to the elevator and getting in. I pressed the 12th floor button and tapped my heels impatiently; the elevator finally opened allowing me to get out to the main floor where all my office desk was. But before I could get to my desk a loud voice called out to me.

“Veronica our new Boss wants to speak with you.” Brook frowned at me. I took my shades off and looked at her with a “Are you kidding me face” causing her to shrug her shoulders. I walked over to my desk placed my things in my draw and pulled at my dress and passed my hands through my hair before walking to my bosses office. I sighed deeply, knocked on the door and opened it, walking in revealling dark black hair behind a turned chair. I rolled my eyes and waited as patiently as I could for the person to turn around and almost fell back when they revealed their self.

“So glad you could make it Veronica.” He smiled softly.

I shook my head and hid my emotions before speaking. “You did call for me sir.”

“Yes I did. There are a few things that I need you to do for me today. I need you to reschedule our fashion events for next month to this week. We are way behind and if we want to stay at the top we need to make sure we get to everything as early as possible.”

“I'll get right on it sir.” I said dreading every moment. I turned to walk away but he called me back.

“Veronica...” the way he spoke my name sent a million volts of electricity to run through my veins. I turned around slightly pissed off and waited for him to speak.

“I'd prefer it if you call me Chad...” He said, looking at my with sympathetic eyes.

I sighed deeply and pushed away my pride. “Sure thing Chad.” I said through gritted teeth before turning and walking out the door, slamming it on my way out.

I walked back to my desk and slammed my hand on the desk before huffing and getting to work. I picked up the phone and started dialing all the numbers on my list, rescheduling all our fashion appointments. By the time I was done with all 63 numbers I was highly pissed at the fact that my Ex was my new boss. My golden-eyed, lavender smelling, toned, ex of a boss. I thought to myself as I stared at him walking from desk to desk, introducing his self and getting down to every complaint that has been brought to him. I shook my head and started on the things that I needed to. I cleared Chase's entire schedule and divided his time for his appointments to each fashion show for the entire week; starting first thing tomorrow morning his first appointment will be at 8:30; I went down the list redoing everything I had already planned, sighing every now and then. I looked at the time and saw that it was 12:30 and that I had already missed my lunch break. I groaned loudly catching the attention of my long time friend Lily.

“Hey Ronnie, whats wrong?”

“My life just got 10 times worse.”

“Worse than when Ashley lied about you dating her fiance?”

“”Yes, much much worse than that crappy lie.” I sighed loudly as I banged my head on my desk.

She giggled at my over dramatic display before sitting on my desk and placing her hand where I banged my head.

“How about we go for our lunch breaks.” She suggested.

“You know my break is at 11. I can't take it now, I already missed it.” I frowned.

“Oh come on Veronica.”

“Please, my mother didn't even call me by my full name.” I rolled my eyes at her.

“Well, I don't care you and I are taking out lunch breaks. I got two trays of sushi and I can't eat it all by my self” She smiled at me before pulling of from my chair and leading me to the break room. She went inside the fridge, pulled out two small trays, walked back over to me and placed it on the table before sitting next to me; handed me a chopstick and we dug into our small lunch. I picked up a California roll, popped it in my mouth and ate it; cleared my throat before and looked at Lily before talking.

“Why don't you stop by for dinner tonight. It's nothing big but my old friend is back in town and I'm having him over for dinner to welcome him back.”

“Sure why not...” She said slowly before looking me in the eye. I could tell a nonchalant conversation was going to end and that something serious was about to go down.

“How are you coping with you ex being your boss.” She said bluntly.

“Does it really matter? He's my boss now and that's all that there is to it.” I looked at her.

“He really hurt you did he?” She asked clearly feeling sympathetic towards my situation.

“It really doesn't matter anymore. I'm fine I promise.” I smiled at her before grabbing another C roll.

She shook her head and flashed my a cheesy smile before grabbing another roll her self. We went back and forth talking and catching up when he walked in. I turned my head and cursed under my breath before turning back and giving him a fake smile. I looked at Lily and excused my self before getting up and walking out of the break room. But before I could get away he grabbed my hand causing me to flinch away from him.

I quickly sprinted out and made it back to my desk engulfing myself in my work so that he wouldn't bother me. It was around 4 when I began clearing my desk to leave when I found a piece of paper with a number and a message on it say “Meet me at your car.” I frowned when I noticed Chad walking out of his office with a briefcase in his hand. He said his goodbyes and looked at me before walking onto the elevator. I ran my fingers through my hair and looked around before shoving the paper in purse before grabbing all my things and leaving. I walked over to Lily’s desk and waited patiently until she was done with her tasks. We both went down the elevator and clocked out at Adam's desk.

“See you tomorrow Miss Smith.” He smiled his famous smile.

“Please Adam call me Ronnie.” I said politely before flashing my id card at the scanner and walked out with Lily. As we approached my car I noticed his masculine figure leaning against it smoking what seemed to be a Cuban cigar.

As we got to the car, Lily scoffed loudly causing him to face us. I looked Lily with pleading eyes causing her to grab my keys out of my hand and get into the car. Thank god for it being sound proof I thought. I looked up at Chad being careful not to get lost in his eyes' breaking the awkward silence, threw away the last of his cigar and popped a mint gum into his mouth before talking to me.

“Veronica...” He began but stop, clearly he was lost in his own pool of words.

“Look Chad, I gotta get home and get ready. Your brother is coming over for his welcome back dinner and I don't want to be a rude host.” I said before turning to open the drivers door but he grabbed my hand, spinning me around to look at him again.

“Ronnie can we just talk?!” He said running his fingers through his hair frustrated with the fact that I was not giving him a break. The anger in me began to boil causing my own frustration to get the best of me.

“Talk? You want to talk?! Where the hell were you 4 years ago when I need you to just talk?! I spent 4 years just waiting for you to come back so we could work things out. But instead you ran off with that whore! So don't tell me you want to talk. Because you weren't there when I Just Wanted to TALK!” I yelled at him before opening my car door, getting in and slamming it in his face. I slammed my hand on the steering wheel and began to sob softly; wiped away my tears and started the car, driving off angrily. I didn't say a word to the worried Lily who sat in the passenger seat we just drove to my house in silence. I didn't realize how short the ride was back home until Lily tried to speak to me but I was angry that I just kept on ignoring her. I drove up the drive way and park the car in the round about, got out and pushed the door open. I walked past startled Chase and Abby ignoring them completely and walked up to my bedroom, slamming the door completely drowning out the outside world could with my cries. There was a soft knock at my door wanting to come in, but I didn't move a muscle. The unwanted guest invited their self but to my surprise it wasn't Abby. I looked at Chase with blood shot eyes and cried even harder, losing all control of my emotions. He shut the door and locked it before walking over and laid next to me, embracing me in his strong arms. We didn't speak at all, he just rubbed my back and whispered soothing words in my ear until my crying died down. He continued to rub my back and whisper words to me until turn to face him, embracing him in a tight hug.

“You're brother is an ass...” I whispered.

“I know... I get to live with him.” He said chuckling lightly.

“Why did he ever do it?” I asked curious.

“He was young and stupid back then...” he shrugged his shoulders.

“Don't give me that crap Chase, you and I both know Chad and I were in love. So why did he do it?!” I yelled as I pushed him away from me.

“Chase don't lie to me!” I yelled as the tears began to from in my eyes again.

“Selena lied about being pregnant so our father told him that he had to do whats right and marry her... but when the time came for them to wed she fessed up. Ever since then he's been trying to get a hold of you, but you erased all our numbers so eventually he gave up... that was until father bought Hustler; gave Chad the position and here we are.” He said with a small smile on his face.

“That still doesn't get him out of constantly sneaking around and cheating on me with her?!”

“I know Ronnie and I'm sorry, but at least give him a chance to make things right.” He said before kissing my forehead, walking to the door, unlocking it and leaving. I laid in bed thinking about what Chase said but eventually got frustrated and fell asleep.

“... Give him a chance...”
