SUNDAY

(Morning)

You join me today as I’m willing Elvis to leave the building. He’s snoring next to me. Our eyes met as Hound Dog came to an end and thanks to my nemesis Alcohol I brought him home.

I thought his jet black quiff was a wig as he thrust his way through Jail House Rock. At 3am, I’m sorry to mention, as he thrust his way through a second attempt at a decent shag it teetered precariously over his forehead. But, it stayed put. It’s still there, sagging gently over my pillow. And for the record, his second attempt was as unsuccessful as his first.

Two white slip on shoes kiss under the desk. His white spandex jumpsuit flops sadly over the chair. The sequins glint in the morning light and I close my eyes to blot it all out. Even with them shut I can still see my mistake. I know I’d smile at his impending walk of shame if only it wasn’t going to start from my front door.

He eventually left at 12:00 after an unwelcome and quite halfhearted encore. You know I don’t mean the singing. Although I’d much rather forget the evening I have the cruelest of friends. ‘Taking Elvis Home’ has already become a catchphrase (I can see that overstaying its welcome too) for all those bad decisions I seem to do so very bloody well.
