Kale loved his job at Bishop's. Not only was he surrounded with his favorite things; books, movies, and music, but he also had regular customers who made his job enjoyable. This afternoon was no different than any other Friday, he knew that in a few minutes Mrs. Lewis would be in for her weekly shopping spree. Helping her was never a bore. She always tried to either embarrass him or shock him speechless, sometimes it was a combination of both.

She was one of his favorite customers.

While waiting for her arrival he helped Raven, his best friend and co-worker, stock some of the new items that had come in that morning. They walked from the store room loaded down with boxes of new body jewelry, video games, and controllers. Raven chattered non-stop along the way. Her multi-colored hair swinging as she wove through the maze of shelves to the display case for the jewelry.

"So tonight, I think I am going to go and check out that play party I was telling you about," she said as she set the boxes down and he unlocked the display case. "Wanna come with?"

Kale looked down and shook his head. This was not a conversation he wanted to have, again, especially at work. Raven kept pushing him to go with her, but he kept refusing. To stop her barrage of questions and reasons why he needed to go, he started placing the little packets of earrings in the case. He tried to think of something, anything to get her train of thought on a different track.

"Hey, have you listened to that new Bush CD yet?"

"Don't try and change the subject, K. You need to get out more. And no, I haven't listened to it yet." Raven worked on one side as he filled the other. Absentmindedly, he played with his lip piercing with his tongue. He had the advantage of not having to look at her when he responded.

Quietly he admitted, "I'm not ready, Ray. I need time." He saw the blonde, black, and pink hairs move as she shook her head.

"No, Kale, you need life. Not Time. Come on, live a little." She stuck her head on his side of the case. Before he could respond a small, wrinkled hand grabbed his wrist. He turned to see Mrs. Lewis standing beside him. Oh geeze, how long had she been there listening to their conversation? Judging by the deviant smile on her face, long enough to know Raven was trying to turn him into a social butterfly.

"How's my Sugar Baby today?" she asked him.<

"Great now that my favorite person is here." he replied with a smile. "Are you ready to see the new arrivals?"

Mrs. Lewis just laughed and moved to stand beside Raven. "Still can't get our boy to go out?" Raven beamed at her. Both women were adamant that Kale needed to stop hiding at home on his days off. Together they badgered him constantly about becoming a recluse with nothing but his cats for company. Which didn't make sense, considering that he didn't really like cats.

"Nope, he still refuses to be seen with me outside of work. Makes me wonder if he thinks I'm not good enough." Kale scoffed as Raven winked at the little old lady, one green eye shining with deviance, "I might develop a complex."

Mrs. Lewis let out a howl of laughter and nudged Kale with her bony elbow. "You wouldn't want to give the girl a complex, now would you?"

All he could do was stare at the two of them. Suddenly, Mrs. Lewis tilted her head and an odd look crossed her face. At the same time, Raven's eyebrows disappeared into her bangs. Kale shifted uncomfortably, thinking he was the reason for their twin looks of shock and confusion.

When Raven wolf whistled, Kale turned around and looked in the direction their gazes were focused. He let out a breath and felt a tingle in his stomach. Standing just inside the doors was a woman and man he had never seen before.

The woman was short, or would be if she wasn't wearing the clunky Mary Jane's she had on. Her brown hair was pulled up into curly pigtails and she wore a black lolita dress and rainbow thigh highs. Not the most tame outfit he had ever seen, but for some reason, it just worked for her. Her dark eyes sparkled with mischief and awe. The man was wearing blue jeans and a nice button down shirt. Had a clean cut hairstyle and green eyes that seemed like they could see right inside to Kale's darkest secrets. If it weren't for their interlocked fingers, he would never guess that they were together.

All three watched as the girl let go of the man's hand and then twirled in place. She clapped her hands and then took off in the direction of the books. The man followed behind at a slower place, taking in his surroundings.

Mrs. Lewis couldn't take her eyes off of him. Kale tapped her on the shoulder and made a sweeping gesture with his arms. "Are you ready to shop?" Mrs. Lewis only nodded, eyes glazed and mouth slightly ajar, and headed in the same direction of the man.

This was going to be an interesting experience.

He guided her through the store and talked about her week. Every now and then he had this odd feeling of being watched. Yet, whenever he turned around, there was no one behind him. The longer the two browsed the store, the bigger the paranoia grew. He was bending to put a book back when noticed a clunky Mary Jane sticking out at the end of the aisle. He raised his eyes and saw that the girl was pretending to look through a book. Mrs. Lewis must have noticed as well, because she crooked her finger at him and beckoned him to her. He stood and leaned down to look at her face to face.

"I believe you have an admirer, Sugar." Kale shook his head and denied it. She laughed and continued, "Oh yes, she has been following you since the Bestsellers section. Go talk to her."

"What do you mean since the Bestsellers? She wasn't even over there when we were."

"Kale, I might be old, but I'm not blind. That girl has been fumbling with books every time we stop. You have an admirer." Kale couldn't believe what he was hearing. It was a relief that he wasn't imagining being watched, but the girl couldn't be following him, she was obviously taken by the man she came in with. It had to just be a coincidence. Mrs. Lewis laughed as she watched his face. He went through looks of doubt, confusion, and if she hadn't been watching so closely, she would have missed the flash of desire. Poor kid didn't realize what a looker he really was. She patted his arm and decided it was time to leave so the girl would get her chance.

"Well Dear, it's been wonderful as usual, but I have got to get back home to Mr. Nibbles."

Kale straighted and led her to the checkout stands. As they passed the Valentine's display, she picked up a Kama Sutra book. "Oh boy, lookie here Kale. That doesn't even look humanly possible." She said as she moved the book at different angles. "Reminds me of those sex dolls I saw on HBO a while ago. I gotta get this book and show Margie. Old bag'll get a big kick out of this!"

Kale just stared at her in shock. He knew his face was red, but her talk about sex dolls and sex positions just wasn't something he wanted to talk about with her. She laughed and went for the cash register.

"Now, you better talk to that girl. And tell the man that I said hello. Boy if I was thirty years younger." She wiggled her eyebrows and half purred, half growled.

He couldn't help but laugh as he bagged her books. "I will Mrs. Lewis, have a nice day."

"You too, Dear and next week you better tell me how your little meeting with the new couple goes." With that, she headed to the doors. Before she walked out she turned and pointed at him and then the girl. Her lips formed the word "now" she smiled and walked out.

*~*~*~*~*

When Aiden and Reegan had all their boxes moved into their new house, they decided it was time to explore their new surroundings. They climbed into their car and drove around the small town. Reegan "oohed and ahhed" at the little stores and cafes along the way. Just as they were approaching a little shopping center, Reegan yelled out, "Stop, Daddy Man, I see books!"

Since they had no other plans, Aiden pulled into the shopping center and parked in front of a decent sized store called Bishop's. Reegan quickly unbuckled her seat belt and flew out of the car. She bounced on her toes on the sidewalk and waited for Aiden to join her. He took his time and quietly laughed to himself as he watched her impatience grow. He knew she wouldn't enter the store without him, but had his doubts this time as she started backing up towards the doors. One look from him had her stopping in her tracks. She waited and held out her hand as they entered the store.

As soon as Reegan walked in Aiden knew she was in heaven. If her little spins and claps weren't enough of an indicator, her squeal of delight gave her away. She grabbed his hand and looked up with pleading eyes.

"Will you be good?" Aiden asked as he looked down at the excited girl. She nodded her head and made a criss cross over her heart with her fingers. He smiled and made a shooing motion. She took off in the direction of the books.

As she made her way over she noticed a boy, well a young man really, walking with an older woman. He had a look of awkward innocence about him. Huge blue eyes, framed by black fringe bangs swept to the side of his face. Dark clothes and black Con's, the only sign that he worked there was the lanyard around his neck with a laminated name tag. He walked through the store with the woman and Reegan followed along at a distance. When the two would stop, she would pretend to be engrossed in the displays. In her mind she was a super spy and had the ability to blend into her surroundings. In reality, the rainbow thigh high socks, made her extremely obvious.

She was enchanted. He towered over the woman, but seemed smaller than he actually was. Every now and then he would sweep his fingers across his face to tuck his hair behind his ear. It was a funny sight to see. The small woman beside him dressed in a bright flowered dress with white sneakers and hair shellacked into a curly puff. She was loud and laughed frequently. The boy was in total contrast. He seemed so unsure of himself, but looked as if he truly enjoyed her company. He carried the woman's items in his arm and would show her book after book. She would say something and the two would laugh. At times he would stick the book with his growing collection. The more Reegan watched, the more she wanted to speak to the boy. As soon as he was finished with her, Reegan planned on asking him to show her around the store.

Aiden watched as his girl made her way through the store. He laughed to himself as he watched her bungling attempt at stalking the young man and his customer. Every time they would stop, Reegan would quickly grab a book feign intense intrest in what she was looking at. Then she would fumble putting it back so she could get closer. She really had no idea how to pull off nonchalance. He followed her as she wound her way through the aisles. She had the look of a predator chasing it's prey. She was so absorbed in watching them that she didn't notice Aiden walking up to her. The old woman and boy were making their way to the cash register with Reegan following closely behind.

When the two stopped he put his arm on Reegan's shoulder and asked, "What on Earth are you doing?" She let out a small squeak and spun around to face him.

"I think I found a new toy," she said with excitement in her voice. Her eyes sparkled as she lifted her finger and pointed towards the odd couple. Aiden let out a bark of laughter when he turned to look. The old woman was waving what looked like the same copy of the Kama Sutra book that he and Reegan had at home. The boy's eyes were almost popping out of his head and his face was a deep crimson. The woman was laughing and pointing at a picture. With the boy staring at her in shock, she tucked the book under her arm and started for the checkout again.

"Whoa Daddy Man, did you see what she picked up?" Reegan was barely stifling the laughter bubbling up on the inside. "Can you imagine being that old and still bumpin' uglies? Geeze, I think I have a new hero."

"I saw, Babes, I saw."

"What do you think of the boy? You wanna meet him?"

Aiden looked over at him and really looked at him this time. He had to hand it to Reegan. She did have good taste. After closer inspection he could already see the boy bound and gagged and at his mercy. His mind began playing through different scenes with the three of them together. Oh yes, Reegan had excellent taste.

"Why don't you go capture your prey, Little Doll?" he said with a smile. Reegan's face turned from excited to determined in mere seconds. With no other words spoken she headed for the cash register. Now was the time for her to lure the boy to her web. And for Aiden to quietly watch as the two got introduced to each other. No need to completely overwhelm the boy, Reegan was enough by herself.
