I froze. Taking in the image of my cousin, my best friend lying naked with my girl. Her tits pressed up against his stomach. I was in shock. I just stood there. They looked up and saw me. I looked straight into Emma’s eyes, those very same eyes that had got me weak at the knees, those eyes that had made me put aside all other girls I looked into those eyes and it’s like everything went into slow motion. I always thought the term ‘heartbreak’ was metaphorical but at that moment I physically felt my heart break

“Jamie babe...I can explain.” she stammered.

I turned around and stormed out. As I rushed down the stairs I felt the first tear trickle down my left cheek. It was followed be more tears. My nose was getting runny too. I was out of the house marching down the street. How the fuck could they do this to me? I trusted her! The first chic I give my heart to and she breaks it, FUCK FUCK FUCK! I started running. The tears were practically pouring out of my eyes so I had to keep wiping them. I was angry and upset and confused all at once. Why me? Why? And Dean of all People. I made my way through the alleyway. Running in the dark, Fuck why won’t these bloody tears stop. I reached out to dry my eyes and that’s when I bumped into somebody, forcing them to drop the bottle they were carrying

“Sorry, mate” I managed to say.

“You WILL be sorry!” The person responded

I took a minute and actually took in my surroundings and that’s when I realised That Id run into a gang. There were about 6 of them. The one i’d bumped into was the tallest of the crew. He was over 6 foot and had tattoos all over his neck and his gold teeth glowed slightly in the dark. The other guys who had all been leaning against the wall walked towards me at the same time. I could tell that something bad was about to happen.

“What do you got for me, blud?” The leader spoke menacingly, eyeing me up.

“Look guys there’s no need for this.” I said wearily

The leader burst out laughing and the others joined in. “No need for this? You think am fucking playing!”

He was back to being serious again and just to prove how serious he was he pulled something out of his coat. I saw the flicker of his blade as he moved the knife from hand to hand.

“Okey, Okey look here’s my wallet, that’s all I have” I said reaching in my pocket.

He snatched the wallet out of my hands and then gestured to one of the guys to search me. I stood there and felt the guy’s hands going through my pockets, the gravity of the situation was just beginning to fully hit me and I was genuinely scared. Every day I read in newspapers about stabbings. The guy found my phone and tossed it to the leader. He pointed at my watch and I begun to take it off as quickly as I could. IT was right then when the Goth girl from before appeared next to me. I don’t know how else to explain this, one minute it was just me surrounded by 6 guys and the next minute she was standing next to me. The guys were just as surprised as I was. For a minute nobody spoke or moved.

She broke the silence “Go home boys.”

“Who the fuck you think you talking to bitch?” The leader responded

“Go home” She said again, this time through gritted teeth.

The leader looked around at his friends “Can you believe this shit? This bitch walks up to me in front of MY niggas! And tries to dis-respect.These rich bitches think just coz daddy lets em get away with anything they can just fucking go where they want and do what they fuck they want.”

“This is the last time I am going to say this...Go home” She said calmly.

The leader’s face screwed up into a frown and he pounced, he swung his arm, the blade glistening, aiming for her stomach. She grabbed his wrist mid air. The leader cried out in pain and dropped the blade, she let go and he fell to the ground, it was dark so I couldn’t really make out what she had done to him but when I looked down I could see he was in excruciating pain. The other guys hesitated only for a second then they all jumped in at once She punched one of the guys so hard I heard his jaw crack, he flew backwards knocking over one of the other guys, She punched one of the other guys straight in the face instantly breaking his nose, He fell to the ground squirming in pain and holding his broken nose, the blood trickling through his fingers. She looked down at the guy with the broken nose with an intense expression on her face then she pounced on him, He screamed out even louder as her teeth sunk into his neck I’ve never been more scared in my life. It was at this point that me and the other guys from the gang ran.

We ran as fast as we could! We ran straight out the alleyway and ran in separate directions down the high street. I ran for what seemed like forever, fuled by fear and adrenaline, I only stopped when my lungs ached and my legs couldn’t take me any further, I bent down holding my knees and tried to catch my breath. My heart was pounding fiercely in my chest.

“Well that’s one way to thank someone for saving your life.”

I looked up and standing in front of me was the Goth girl. I Jumped back in fear and fell flat on my back. I looked up and there she was stretching out her hand to help me stand up. I was so frightened of her but I figured pissing her off in the middle of nowhere wasn’t the smartest thing to do so I grabbed her hand. Her hand was so cold, I noticed that immediately. Ice cold. She pulled me up to my feet. I was still breathing heavily because of all the running id just done.

“Please don’t hurt me.” I said nervously.

“Am not going to hurt you.” She said. “I don’t just go around hurting People. Before...That was not like me. I acted irrationally...anyways I saved your life, we are even. Am leaving now, have a pleasant life”

She turned around swiftly.

“Thanks.” I said.

She turned back round and faced me. “Don’t thank me. We are even”

Oh okay I said.” Still extremely frightened.

She nodded. Then turned around again. I knew she was going to disappear into the darkness again and I knew it would be the last time id see her so I thought what the hell and asked the question that was on my mind “Are...Are you a vampire?”

She turned around and faced me then she nodded. I was speechless. We stood there facing eacother neither one of us saying a word.

“Why’d you attack me before?” I asked

She smiled for the first time. And my heart skipped a beat. “You called me fat.”

Suddenly it all made sense. “You heard that? Fuck, am so sorry”

“No its fine. I know am not exactly skinny and everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. I’ve lived for 450 years I assure you it wasn’t the first time someone’s referred to me as the fat girl.” She said. “It is however the first time I’ve responded that way and I want to apologise again because...”

“No Am the one who should be apologising” I said, cutting her off, “What I said was stupid and I feel absolutely awful about it.”

And it was true, I did feel awful especially now that I was standing so close to her and could clearly see that she wasn’t Fat at all. She wasn’t stick skinny by any means but she had weight in all the right places. Her hips were full and curvy and her thighs looked juicy, thick and toned in the fishnets she was wearing. Her cleavage was also spectacular and she was kind of pretty in an intense kind of way.

“Well, like I said we are even now.” She said.

“Not in my book.” I said. “Let me take you out on a date so I can apologize properly.

She smiled again. This time it was a fuller smile “I almost strangled you to death, you watched me beat up and suck the life out of someone and you are bold enough to ask me out on a date?”

“I’ve had a shit day, possibly the worst day of my life and the only thing that was even remotely awesome about all of it was I got to meet you.”

She was silent for a bit then she said. “Okay. When and where?”

“Well, Am not doing anything now...”

“Okay.” She said.

“Okay.” I said, smiling.

She laughed and it was the most infectious laugh I had ever heard. I started laughing too. “Am sorry I haven’t been on a date in 200 years.”

“Really?”

“Really.”

“I thought Vampires were like very outgoing...”

“You mean you thought all vampires were sluts?”

“No that’s not what I said.”

“Yes but what you were thinking.”

“Oh, you are a mind reader now?” I said with a hint of sarcasm.

“I am.”

“Get the fuck outta here. Really?”

“I can read thoughts and I can also sense emotions.”

“Wow.”

“This is a very unusual situation for me.” She said. “I’ve walked this earth for hundreds of years and you are not the first person I’ve revealed my true nature to but you are the first person that has reacted this way.”

“Oh.How do they normally react?”

“They scream, they panic, and they look at me like...like am a monster. Sometimes they pretend they are fine with it but I can smell the fear, I can hear their thoughts, hear the names they call me in their head.”

“You know what my mom always tells me?”

“What?”

“If someone can’t accept you for who you are, Fuck em”

“Your mom says that?”

“Well, not in those exact words.”

She laughed. “You are different.”

“Well, am not quite myself, I just caught my cousin...”

“Yes I know, am sorry. “

“You know?”

“I followed you.”

“Oh.”

We were both silent for a bit, then she spoke. “You know what we both need?”

“What?”

“Alcohol.”

I laughed. “You read my mind. The train station ‘s just down that way lets hit Birmingham, theres a few good pubs down there.”

“I know of a better place.

“Oh okay. Is it far?”

She smiled mischeviasouly and then without warning picked me up, it was so quick that I dint even have time to protest. I looked around and noticed we were in the air. The wind blew past me, making my eyes water. I looked down and seeing everything from that far up was so surreal I felt as if it was all one weird dream and right when my senses were beginning to adapt to the fact that we were “flying” we reached our destination. We landed on what appeared to be a rooftop. Then still carrying me she jumped off the building. It was all happening so fast that I felt like my brain was about to explode. The excitement, the fear, it was all too much and the minute I was on my feet I vomited. She didn’t make a big deal out of it and told me that it was perfectly normal, I still felt a bit embarrassed though. We were in a backstreet of some sort, with trash cans and the occasional alley cat popping its head out,Its only when we walked out into the street that I realised we were not in Birmingham anymore. The buildings, the roads, this looked all too familiar not because id been there before but rather because I’d seen it in a movie or on TV or something. I was still a bit disorientated and my knees were still wobbly as she guided me to a trendy looking bar,Its only when the bouncers spoke to us in French that it actually hit me...

WE WERE IN PARIS.
