Chapter 1

Gabriel’s arm was like steel around Bryce, making her immobile. She needed a shower, to wash him off of her. But, she couldn’t move. She wriggled in his grip until he loosened a bit, enough for her to slide through.

There, was a problem. He was stirring, he was going to wake up. Bryce moved quickly to the end of the bed before falling face first, cold air whisked over her body. She was naked, and exposed. She scrambled over to the dresser and covered herself, while catching her breath.

She finally built the courage to look up, he was glaring at her, his head cocked to one side and a wicked smile plastered on his face. Bryce felt herself cower away.

“Where do you think you’re going?” His voice was deep and timber, but it was attractive considering his medium-large build.

Bryce frantically shook her head, unable to find her vocal chords.

“What did I tell you about not correctly answering me?” He was moving, off the bed and toward her.

“I- I..” She choked out. “I’m sorry.” It was a whisper, barely audible, but he heard it well.

“You’d better be. Now get up.” His voice echoed in the room, causing her to hesitate. Before she could comprehend, her arm was hurting and so was her cheek. It really hurt. Her focus returned, Gabe was directly in front of her with a less than happy face. “You’re going to learn to do as you’re told.” It was a statement she heard many times, it lead to punishment.

In a swift movement, he was behind her and he had her pinned. She didn’t even try to escape, he was much, much stronger. He was bending her over, her face was pushed into the bed. Unconsciously, she started to panic. It came naturally, she started squirming and screaming into the bed.

Then, a loud smack shot through the air, along with a loud muffled scream. Pain seared through her, it stung. Bryce cried into the silk blanket that covered the queen sized bed. The pain came again, and she was sure her vocal chords would burst.

Gabe pulled her up by her hair and made her face him. Her face was tear-streaked and her breathing was ragged.

“Do you fucking understand me.” He was directly in her face, making it impossible to turn away from him. Bryce nodded quickly. “Use your words.” He used a mockingly sweet tone of voice.

“Yes, yes I understand.” She cringed away, causing Gabe to smirk.

“You know I love you, right?” Before she could answer, Gabriel had his lips on hers.

He moved his hand from her hair to the small of her back, caressing her arms on the way. Bryce couldn’t help but moan. It felt good compared to the previous treatments he’d given her. She started kissing him back, wrapping her arms around his neck. Gabe grabbed her ass, making her flinch. She whimpered in his mouth, and he gently laid her on her back.

Gabe left her mouth and started leaving kisses down her neck and collar bone. Then, not even realizing that he had moved, he thrust deep into her. Bryce gasped and dug her nails into his bare back.

“Gabe, I really don’t wanna do this right now. Can you please stop?” Her voice was a shaken whisper, and Gabriel completely ignored her. Bryce pushed at his chest a little, too afraid to push him harder. Again, Gabe ignored it, he just kept thrashing into her.

“Please, stop.” She said a little louder. Then, she got a little more bold, “Get the fuck off of me!” She yelled it, squirming underneath him. Gabe stopped. He looked her square in the eye, and smacked the hell out of her.

Bryce’s head turned to one side, and she squeezed her eyes shut as the pain subsided. She waited there, for what seemed like forever, for him to finish. When he did, he just got off of her and went to the bathroom.

When the shower clicked on, Bryce curled up into fetal position and cried. She felt violated, and used. She wished she could just lay there forever, and not have to deal with Gabe. The perfect life.

Bryce finally rose to her feet. Her arms automatically went to her chest, it was freezing in there.  She trudged over to her dresser catching a glimpse of herself in the mirror, and sure enough, there was a reddish purple bruise forming on her cheek. She sighed and grabbed the silk robe sitting on top of her dresser.

The purple thing only came to her knee, but she was grateful for it. Bryce shuffled over to the door, and as soon as she opened it, the bathroom door opened. She quickly slipped out of the room and into the darkness of the house. She flicked on the hallway light, illuminating the narrow space.

Bryce took the stairs one by one, a little limp on each one, but finally came to the bottom. She almost ran to the kitchen, she searched for a sandwich bag, and filled it up with ice. She placed it on her cheek, and flinched. A thought passed her mind, Why don’t you just leave him? She considered it, but knew that it wouldn’t happen. She couldn’t leave Gabe, he loved her too much.

~?~

Julius’ morning was routine. Wake up. Shower. Get dressed. Get coffee. Go to Work. It was utterly sickening; he wished something weird would happen. Something fun, maybe even challenging. He stood in line at Dunkin’ Donuts waiting for an open cashier, his hands stuffed in his navy suit pants.

The bell jingled and he automatically turned his head, he saw a head of dirty blonde hair. It was tied up in a messy bun, complete with braids and everything. She had a bored expression on her face, which was a flawless shade of pale. But her eyes, they looked gloomy and depressed, where they should be bright and spunky. They were just a sort of misty blue. He looked away, not wanting to come off as a stalker or anything else that might run her away.

Jules walked up to an available register and ordered a butter pecan iced coffee. He gave her his name, and paid her. He made his way over to the pickup table and waited for his coffee. When it finally came, he picked it up and began walking off.

He looked out of the window for a brief second before knocking into something, or someone. He looked up and saw her. Her blue crop top was soaked in coffee, and she started apologizing frantically.

“I’m so sorry, I-I wasn’t looking. I should have been paying..”

“No, I was my fault. I take full responsibility.” He interrupted her, “Here, let me buy your coffee.” He reached for his wallet.

“Oh, no. You don’t have to.” Her eyes kept darting to a window, like she was watching someone.

“Nonsense. Here.” He held out forty dollars, which was more than enough. She held her palms out in a stopping position.

“Really, there’s no need.” Jules grabbed her wrist, placed the money in her hand, and closed her hand. She looked out the window one last time. “ I’m sorry, but I have to go.” A look of panic crossed her face, before she hurried out of the store.

He left the store, and deposited the empty cup into the trash. As he walked he couldn’t help but think, that that girl, would change his life. If only he knew how right he was.
