She `s barely grown,
she`s just left childhood
and also her room,
her gown is modest
but regal her bearing,
her braided hair shines
under the morning light.
She looks too young to die!
Times of cruelty and pain,
you kill this child
now you have no use for her!
She is the English rose,
barely in bloom,
she is kindness itself
and was led to her doom!
Morning is set,
the sun is in the sky.
crows are waiting
and also the crowds!
Time has approached,
she`s to end her life.
No Mother to mourn her,
no family to shed tears,
she`s been used coldly
in spite of her youth,
in spite of her smile,
in spite of her kindness
she is to die.
All is ready, all in place,
crowds watching,
executioner waiting,
she`s to die in her faith
her soul is ready to part.
Her ladies take off her mantle
and place on her hair a cap.
Blindfolded and kneeling,
she extends her hands,
the block is so far...
"Where is it,where is it?"
pitifully she cries.
Someone leads her to it,
leaves her  to await death,
the ax falls heavily
on her lovely neck,
life leaves her swiftly,
her soul flies to the Heavens
to reunite with her love.

You have absolutely got to get off this beheading trend...I can't handle this right now. What have you been reading??? (or watching)
This is just gut wrenching. I'll have to look this girl up. I don't recall her in any of my history classes but I'm confident you're referencing a true event. It's quite insane, how callous humanity can be in the name of politics and power. Very vivid piece, Lizzie; particularly the details at the end where she's reaching for the block. Wow...

Haha, trust your friend Lizzie to be macabre! I had these poems in a drawer sort of thing and wanted to share them! Yes, it is a true event, though I am sure it was not that romantic in reality. Thanks for your review,Kitten!
