Fear not, my most beloved,

the city keeps our liaison secure.

The old stones have engraved

our names in their fiery hearts,

the greyish river remembers

to keep our scent in its waters

We somehow will always live

in the travelling breeze of Time,

In the old decayed doorways

where we kissed defying Fate

and every treasured second

will shine softly for all lovers

even in the darkest of nights.

I like how you meld this isolated relationship with "all lovers" as if couples are companions in unison, and carry on the lives of one another through eternity. Somehow, I always picture Venice in your pieces.

Thank you so much, dearest Kitten. I always felt linked to Venice for some reason. Venice in the 18th century. Love,Lizzie.

The imagery in this piece immediately transports and lingers in the mind long after this poem is done. Thank you for sharing such beauty that captures us in the love and longing well displayed for our eye and hearts.
