Kira awoke in a large bed dressed in Egyptian cotton sheets. the room in which huge bed that she took root in was placed was extremely large and equally luxurious. she looked down at herself to see that the only thing covering her skin was bandages and many cuts and bruises. she turned around in the foreign bed, ready to find someone to help, when a sudden pain stopped her movements. Kira stayed motionless until she heard another noise come from behind her.
"is anyone there?" she asked sheepishly. a shadow appeared on the floor and began to get larger as what seemed to be a man can closer to her. she sat there, trembling, as she looked at a familiar face.
"I see you've awoken." he said, his voice smooth and calm, like a snake's voice. the face triggered something inside of her and memories flooded in. she had been painting at the park until it was too dark to see anything, she had to get back home before her father and mother find out how late she had been. walking for some time now but he house was still a few miles away. in the town she lived in, criminals and predators were sparse so she didn't fear walking alone at night, quite the opposite. she had just reached the halfway point of her walk, however, when two men walked up to her.
"Are you Kira Lutic?" said one of the figures. "I am, who's asking?" Kira retorted, thinking it was one of her school peers.
"You have to come with us, it's crucial that you come with us." Kira shook her head. "Sorry, but just because you know my name doesn't mean that I trust you. I've never met you before.
" Kira said while beginning to walk past them.
"Sorry, you're right," said the other man. "We won't trouble you again." the other said as they walked off. Kira continued to walk on when a hand grabbed her from behind. Her first reaction was to pull her hand away but the grip was extremely firm. she looked up and saw a man in a suit that fit him quite tightly.
"Come now Kira, you'd best come withe before those other scumbags get close to you." This time Kira's efforts to break free were not in vain and she managed to get away. She felt a burning in her chest that was getting hotter as she ran farther away. Twice now, strangers had come at her and caused her throat to burn up. She sat down on the steps of the town library and looked around the place she had grown up in. the sim orange lights were covering the surrounding ground with the weak security that was light. No one else except the occasional car seemed to be out at this time of night and she soon came to regret the idea of sitting alone in this cold place. She felt a cloth cover her shoulders and her shivering slowly subsided. Yet another stranger sat down next to her. Not looking at her, but instead he looked out at the surroundings that she too was overlooking.
"I don't blame you, in fact, I pity you." He mumbled. Kira, confused, inched a little bit farther away from the cal stranger.
"In this world where everyone, even criminals are treated as equals until proven guilty, You must be so happy. I can only imagine the shock you will go through." He cracked a sly smile and peers over at her face. Kira stood and so did he. She took off his jacket and handed it to him, ready to bolt the moment he accepted it.
"When we meet again, my little angel, you shall be forever in my debt." With that, he began to walk onward without the jacket and into the light. His silver hair reflected off the street lights as he walked past. He wore a white dress shirt with a violet vest covering it. his tie seemed loose and worn, as if it had been removed often and then quickly tied again. He tipped is hat and walked away, the entire time smiling. Kira decided that she likes the sly man that gave her his jackets warmth, even if he did speak in riddles. Kira wasted no time getting back to her home, fumbling through her bag to find her keys. She entered the house to see that her roommate, Charlie, had not returned yet. Charlie was a nurse and when he wasn't working the night shift, he was out with his boyfriend. All in all, it left her with a lot of nights alone in that huge house. She flicked one of the lights on and went into her art studio to drop off her supplies. Her throat was burning horribly now so he went straight to the kitchen to find some sort of liquid to help the pain. she opened the stubborn door of her drive in the pitch black room to reveal an empty fridge. She sighed, grabbing her throat and sitting on the floor across from the open fridge. Abruptly, a hand grabbed the back of her neck. Kira shot up, screaming and letting go of the grip on her own neck. Another hand wrapped around her waist and another enwrapped her left leg.
"We've claimed the prize! oh sweet god! we've got the prize!" cries of victory surrounded the terrified Kira as she was lifted by more hands.
"Is she as beautiful as they say?" Another said, his voice very close to Kira's ear.
"How am I supposed to know? I cannot see anything I this lighting!" A light flickered on and Kira gasped in horror. she began to tear up while she stared at the huge number of vicious looking and beast like people.
"Amazing! she's made me want her so much just from looking at her!" said one man in the group.
"We need to get her to Sir before he grows impatient to see his wife." Kira's burning throat that had previously kept her from speaking grew even more ferocious and painful. Two minutes later, she had already fallen into a shock induced stupor.
When Lira came back to her senses, The man had gotten closer to her and was now dressing the spent bandages on her left leg.
"You most likely don't remember me, dear, but I tried to warn you last night before you so rudely ran away from me." Kira looked up and instantly remembered the scene where she had tried to get away from a grip that was far too strong for her.
"You had said that you wanted to protect me from scumbags, but other than that one encounter, I know nothing of you.". The man seemed to smile, revealing perfect under a perfect completion. "Silly dear, I'm your fiancée" Kira cried out as his hand fell on her neck.
