Did you read the bit in the paper, Roy? Seems everybody will be striking across, well! everywhere, Dawn said, putting her coat on that hung on the back of the kitchen door, as her shift at the care home had just ended.

What do you mean, Dawn! You make it sound like the whole world is going to strike on the 30 th November dont be so dramatic, Roy said scared.

Im not! Schools, possible trains, planes and many more may be joining in,' Dawn said, trying to remember what the article had said.

You are joking, arent you, Roy whined, looking very worried.

No, I am not! Its in the paper. Wouldnt it be eerie? Loads of kids off and all those empty schools. Dawn gave a shudder as the thought past through her body.

The kids, probably, are up to no good again! Like the summer holidays, bitterness in his voice.

You cant say that! It werent just the youngsters that rioted and you know it. Do you realise that the Politicians are not calling it a riot anymore? It was a disturbance! Dawn said with her hands on her hips.

No, our neighbour and loud music, thats a disturbance. When number 102 found her old man sleeping with her best mate, thats a disturbance. When number 68s old man got arrested for putting out fag butts on his daughter, thats just disturbed.’ Both Dawn and Roy agreed that was just sick.

The fact othe the matter is he should not of done what he did, then to hang himself as they took his daughter away from him and gave her to her grand parents.

The older folk, today, said it will remind them to be thankful for what they have got. Dawn trying to ignore that remark. One said, its the nurses and firemen going to strike as well, as her grandson works for the fire service, I said I wasnt sure. Now youre here, maybe you can look it up for her. Dawn asked, giving Roy a huge hug.

oh right on my tinternet and electric keyboard Roy said kaughing to himself

Hun, Im scared this will affect our rent. We are both doing split shifts as it is. What if the place is closed as well.

We have gotten through worst scraps than this, she said with a lump in her throat that would not go away no matter how hard she swallowed.

But this is supposed to be for better pension and jobs better life. It says also a bit in the paper, about up north is staying open with the help of the army, they are going to teach the 850 pupils for the day for free. What I find ironic, our Armed Forces that are covering for these teachers, for free, earn far less than the teachers who are striking. The starting salary for a soldier after training is £17,200, while a teacher’s is £21,588, or £27,000 in London.’ Roy said.

‘Why don’t they do what the old folks say daily, stop footballers and Politicians wages and put everybody on equal pay. Give money to care homes, hospitals and our Forces. The more skilled you are, you get a rise. The more you risk your life for your country, you should earn more,’ Dawn said, with such liveliness, her eyes they danced and glistened.
