Those words made me realise something. I had just lost my virginity, and it was with a man I truly loved. I stroked his cheek.

“Sorry, I should have told you before we started”

“Hay, it’s not a big deal. I couldn’t be happier you chose me”

He grinned.

“Me either. That was so much better than my plastic friend”

“You have a vibrator?”

“Most women do you know”

He shifted his hips, and I could feel he was hardening inside me again.

“God, I would pay to watch you use that”

“I have it with me”

I smiled. That’s all it took to have him fully stiff again.

“Shit, this has never fucking happened; you were made for me darling”

He said, thrusting forward. We fucked hard and fast, both of us, once again, reaching the peak together. We ended up curled together, lying on the couch. We kissed a few times, but mostly just held each other.

“You have to show me your little vibrating friend”

He smiled down at me.

“I’m afraid you will have to wait, I’m slightly sore from my new best friend”

We both laughed. We ended up going to bed, and I fell asleep happily in his arms. I woke up the next day, with a kiss.

“Jewel honey, I have run you a bath. Angie called; she wants you to go with her, for the final dress fitting”

I let out a little grumble. I gripped his shirt, and pulled him onto the bed, into my arms.

“Good morning”

I said. He grinned and kissed me hard on the mouth. We made out for a while, and then I went to get my bath. Any aches I had from last night, vanished as I soaked in the hot water.

Once I was ready, we headed out. Anytime the car would stop at lights, Sam would stroke my hair, or lean in for a kiss, or grab my hand. He was just too sweet. I wished I had known this side of him all these years. It had taken me literally days, to go from loathing him, to loving him.

I couldn’t help wondering how he felt about me. He had told me he had always fancied me. And the way he was with me last night, showed he cared for me. But could he love me?

When we got to my parent’s house, Angie was waiting on the step. Sam greeted her with a kiss on the cheek, and then went inside. She grabbed my arm as I was about to pass.

“Well, how did it go?”

I couldn’t wipe the smile from my face.

“That good huh. I told you he would be a dynamo”

“He was beyond a dynamo”

I gushed. I couldn’t help laughing. I guessed I was a gushing type of girl, if it was the right man to gush over.

“Look at you, your practically glowing”

Angie giggled.

“You really love him don’t you?”

“I do, I really do”

“I’m so happy for you Jules”

She hugged me tight. We went inside, and I greeted mum and dad. We ate breakfast together, and then Angie, mum and I headed for the dress shop. Sam kissed me before we left, and whispered in my ear.

“Hurry back honey”

I grinned, the whole car ride to the dress shop. We went inside, and the woman bought out a stunning baby blue dress. It was long and flowing, silky and had spaghetti straps. Angie turned to me.

“Do you like the dress Jules?”

“Is that your wedding dress?”

I asked, surprised she hadn’t opted for the traditional white.

“No, my dress and the bridesmaids dresses are all sorted. This dress is for you”

I stood up and stared at her.

“For me”

“I want you to be my maid of honour”

I was totally taken aback. I hadn’t even been asked to be bridesmaid, which I obviously expected. She took my hands.

“I love that we have been getting on more. I think Paul brings out the best of you. You are usually so miserable and distant when your home. I love us having laughs, and giggling about boys. It’s something we’ve never done before. I want to keep our relationship this way. You’re my big sister, but now you’re my friend too. Please say you’ll do it”

A tear escaped my eye.

“I would be proud to sweetie”

I cried, pulling her in for a hug. Mum joined us, for a crying group hug. I knew I had Sam to thank for all this. Angie was right, I was always miserable when I came home. I used to say it was because they nagged me. But thinking back, part of the issue was how I acted.

I would make sure from now on, when I came home, I would make more of an effort. I tried on my dress, and it was a perfect fit.

“You look wonderful darling”

Mum said. I almost cried again. She was usually so critical.

“Thanks mum”

I smiled. After the fitting, we all went for lunch. It was so nice to have a lovely afternoon with my mum and sister. When we got back home, I was greeted with another kiss. I pulled him into the hallway, away from prying eyes.

“Did you have a good day?”

“I did, I had a lovely day. Sam, I want to thank you again. Angie has asked me to be her maid of honour. If it wasn’t for you, none of this would be happening. You have given me my family back”

He stroked my cheek, wiping away the tear that had fallen.

“Oh sweetheart, it’s all been you. They can see how wonderful you are”

“If I’m wonderful, it’s only because I’m with you”

He kissed my lips.

“Then you’ll be wonderful for a long time I hope”

He smiled.

“Come on you two, the Champaign is flowing in here”

Angie shouted from the kitchen. Sam grabbed my hand, and led the way. We were handed a glass each, and then dad made a toast.

“I want to say how proud I am of my beautiful little girls. Angie, Dave is a wonderful guy, and I know he will make you happy. Jules, Paul here is a fine young man, he obviously makes you happy, and it’s plain for all to see, how much you love each other. I couldn’t be a happier father right now. Cheers”

We all clunked glasses, and drank to our happiness. I couldn’t help feeling a little guilty. I had my family back, after so many years. But it was built on a lie. Not a huge lie, as I did now love Sam, but a lie all the same.

“Can I say something?”

All eyes turned to me.

“Firstly I want to say sorry. I know my last few visits home have not been happy ones. I want that to change. I want to come home more often, and have fun days with you all. But I must be honest first”

Sam gripped my hand; he knew where I was going with this.

“Paul broke up with me, 2 days before I was due to come home”

Everybody looked shocked, their eyes moving back and forth from me to Sam.

“This isn’t Paul. This is Sam. I asked him to come with me, so I wouldn’t have to feel the embarrassment of turning up alone”

“Oh honey”

Dad sighed.

“I’m sorry dad; I know you’re probably disappointed in me”

He reached out and gripped onto my free hand.

“Sweetheart, I could never be disappointed in you. I’m just sad you didn’t feel you could tell us the truth”

“I’m sorry darling”

Mum said stepping forward, and stroking my arm.

“I never wanted you to feel you couldn’t talk to me”

“Me either”

Angie said, placing her hand on my other arm. I was so surprised. I had expected yelling, disapproving looks, and arguments galore. I had never expected this much support.

“So you two aren’t together?”

Dad asked. Sam placed his arm around my shoulder.

“We are now sir, I care about Jewel very much, and I always have. I promised you would look after her, and I plan to do that, as long as she will have me”

I smiled up at him.

“Then there is no need for apologies, my toast stands. Cheers again”

My dad said, raising his glass. We all joined in.
