Most of us have heard of the Karma Sutra, but how many of us actually know what it really is? Well, to begin with, it is an ancient Indian Hindu text written by Vatsyayana. It consists of advice on sexual intercourse and explores human sexual behaviour. “Kama” means sensual or sexual pleasure and “Sutra” means a line - a thread holding things together. Although popular belief is that it’s a purely sex-orientated book, an Indian escort who has studied it will tell you that that it is also a guide to living a gracious life, discussing love and family life.

The book begins with general remarks about the contents of the book and aim and priorities we should have in life. It also talk reflects on intermediaries who assist their lovers in their enterprises. The book then talks about all the different things you can incorporate into love-making such as biting, slapping, digging nails into the skin and caressing. It also expresses that oral sex and virile behaviour can help to increase pleasure during the act. Of course, many people like to do this anyway!  For those who are looking to experiment and spice up their sex lives, the Karma Sutra can be just what they need as it contains sixty-four types of sexual acts!

Later on in the book, advice is offered for marriage. More specifically - how to acquire a wife. Vatsyayana writes tips for men on how to relax a girl, obtain a girl and how to deal with being single. The Karma Sutra really does like a book purely for men but it’s not. It can help anyone from older people, to the more adventurous Indian escorts! Many feminists do not appreciate some elements of the Karma Sutra because it lists the duties and privileges of a wife. We should remember though that the text was written at a time when women were considered the property of their husband and that was the norm. It seems bizarre to see how reserved India is today when it comes to sexual expression and then to imagine them hundreds and hundreds of years ago reading about how to pick the perfect courtesan for their pleasure!

The Western world generally seems to consider the Karma Sutra as a manual to having tantric sex. It is true that it can help couples do have this type of sex but it is also a good read before bedtime! It make readers questions their own sexual boundaries and assess where exactly it is that they get the most enjoyment out of life from. Sometimes it is good to take a step back and look at everything in your life and decide what could go, what needs to stay and what could be made better. The Karma Sutra helps you to do this. Indian escorts in London agree. They are very relaxed and content and know you know why!
