It was a Tuesday night, our normal date night, but tonight was no ordinary date night. Tonight, Luke chose to give me a key to his apartment and ask me to move in with him. I stood there dumbfounded and speechless, not really knowing what to say.

"Did you hear me?" Luke barely whispered. I could sense the fear in his voice, hear his heartbeat increase and could smell the sweat start to bead on his forehead. He was afraid I was going to reject him.

"What? - Oh. Yes." I was struggling to find the right thing to say. See, the thing is...I'm a vampire and Luke isn't. Not normally a problem, except for one of us had no idea what I was. I have managed to date him for 6 months and not once give hint or indication to the fact that I was not a human.

"Well?” Luke questioned me again, this time he bit his lower lip as if expecting the worst.

I decided it was time to fill him in on my little secret. If he felt confidant enough in our relationship to ask me to move in...Well, the least I could do - was tell him who I really was. I took a moment to stare up into the night sky, the moon was bright tonight, and it was almost a full moon. I sensed Luke looking up into the sky next to me.

If I had the ability to breathe, I would have taken a deep breath right at this moment.

"Luke?" I was still mulling the words around inside my head.

How did I tell him that he was dating a blood-drinking vampire?

"Are you turning me down? I feel a "but" coming on." His bright blue eyes stared deep into my own brilliant blue eyes. His heart sounded like an African drum circle in my ears.

"No," I paused, "It's not that I don’t want to move in with you. I just - well, see...." I was still trying to find the perfect words to say.

"If it's too soon, I understand." His voice was small but his heart was racing. I could hear the valves of his heart working overtime to keep up with his rapidly pulsing blood.

"No, no! Really, I want to move in with you. It’s just that-“

"Just what!? Just that you don’t want to move in together!?" He didn’t sound angry but I could smell his blood begin to boil. The fear of my rejection was enough to keep him on edge. He needed me to say yes; his body was screaming for it.

Because I'm a vampire.

The words raced to the tip of my tongue and I nearly spit them out before Luke spoke again.

"Look, Charity, I don't want to force you into anything you don't want to do." He rested a hand on my shoulder. I could feel the blood pulsing in his veins and capillaries. He smelled delicious and wonderful - it teased my senses causing my stomach to churn. I had never tasted Luke's blood but there wasn't a moment that passed by, where I didn't long for just one sip.

I closed my eyes and tried to come up with an easy approach to the topic. Nothing seemed easy. Maybe I could just move in and then tell him later, really take my time to break the news? No. That wouldn't work...sooner than later I would have to explain why I keep blood in our refrigerator, why I drank blood and why I didn't sleep more than a couple hours a week. Those are just a few of the many things that would soon have him curious about me.

Truth time. If he loved me – like he says he loves me – then he won’t freak out. "I'm a vampire."

He laughed out loud.

“Nice one.” He smiled, “But that doesn’t answer my question.”

What? He thinks I am joking?

“I’m serious Luke, I’m a vampire.” I grabbed his face with two hands and pulled him close to my face…then snarled my fangs gently at him. There was enough moonlight that he could have seen them from a few feet away but I wanted him to see and believe and truly know who he was dating.

Silence. This time he didn’t laugh. Or say anything for that matter. He simply took one step back and continued to stare.

“Say something.” I took a step closer to him and thankfully he didn’t move back again. “Luke, I – I’ve been wanting to tell you.”

“I knew it.”

“What?” That was not the response that I had expected from him. I listened closely to the beat of his heart – it had slowed down. He was breathing normally and his blood smelled sweet.

He moved in and took me in his arms, “I’ve known it, somehow.” His body was warm and hard against mine. “I didn’t think that it would be vampire, but I knew something was different about you.” He leaned in and kissed me.

He tasted better than he smelled – I indulged myself and embraced his kiss with passion and power. We kissed for another moment before he pulled away and took a small step back.

I couldn’t bring myself to look into his eyes. I knew he wanted me to; I could feel his stare and sensed a different emotion about to come from him. His blood was boiling again but this time not from fear.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I didn’t think it was important.” Damn, his faced cringed, wrong answer. “No – Luke! I mean, I didn’t want you to feel differently about me.”

He took another step back from me. “Bullshit.”

I forced myself to look at him, to face his angry gaze head on. His eyes burned with little flames of fire, he had removed his jacket and was rolling up his sleeves - his muscular body was tense and moved rigidly. It was a cold winter night but the adrenaline pumping through his veins was heating him up, I could feel it radiating – even though I stood 3 feet away from him.

“I wanted you to get to know the real me, before I told you what I was.” That much was true. I also didn’t want him to stake me with a wooden knife in the middle of the night. Although Luke had never given indication to being a vampire hunter – we’ve never had that discussion and I was just being careful.

There are two different types of human’s in the world: those who hate us, and those who don’t. There is no grey area when it comes to vampires.

“I’m not a vampire hunter.” Good. That means he was a vampire “liker”…or in my case a vampire lover. I was hoping so, anyway. He looked up at the moon and in that instant I couldn’t help myself, I closed the gap between us in milliseconds and before he could protest I had my arms around him.

Luke never protested, he wrapped his arms around me, “I’m sorry.” He kissed my forehead. “I didn’t mean to get so upset, I just wish you had told me the truth.”

“I was afraid. You had never talked about hating vampires but you also had never said that you liked them.” I paused; it was odd to think that after so many years, our existence was not a secret. “I didn’t really believe that you would stake me…I was more worried that you wouldn’t like me.”

He kissed me again, this time exploring my entire mouth with his and pushing his body up against mine. I could feel his erection.

“So, I guess that means you still like me?” I reached my hand down to stroke the bulge beneath his pants.

“Like you? No.” He pulled me in and nibbled on my neck. “I love you and I find it rather erotic that you are a vampire.” He gently bit my neck then moved his back to my mouth.

“Good, then I guess that means I accept.”

“You’ll move in with me?”

“Yes.” I smiled and pulled his face back down to mine. “Lets go back to my place, celebrate one last night before I move out?”

Luke was the most gorgeous man that I had come across in hundreds of years. He smiled at my proposition and pulled me in for one more kiss. He pulled me closer as I slightly grinded my hips against his groin. He was still hard as a rock.

“We’d better get going,” I rubbed his big hard cock as a reminder, “We can’t have this going to waste.”
