It was around Midnight that I had suddenly heard a strange noise coming from the other bedroom that I allowed my sister Maggie to spend the night in and got out of bed to go check on her.

The way you present the story goes a long way to making it "Fit" the title you gave it... I agree heartily with Collette... It doesn't have to be stupid, & it has lots of possibilities, but you are in control of whether you decide to tweak it just a bit & have it make a greater appeal...
