April was in a state of disbelief. Here she was, sat in a stunning hotel room ,alone  with a man she and no doubt millions of women had fantasized about. Mike Grey. As he sat in front of her, scenes flashed through her mind, characters he had played in movies, and TV dramas. A detective, an artist, a criminal. He'd played a doctor in a huge hospital drama set in new york for the last few years. Night after night April had sat at home in her pajamas eating junk and imagining what it would be like to be one of his leading ladies. Now here she was. Disheveled, coffee stained, star struck and in pain. She looked down and studied herself. The coffee was beginning to dry on her clothes. The top of her shirt was stuck to her skin and she could see her skin was pink and raw underneath. " who even drinks coffee that hot?!" She didn't even mean to say it out loud. " My guy had just brought it out to me. You must be burned pretty bad" Mike rubbed his forehead with his hand and tutted to himself. His voice was deep and warm. His British accent was made him sound intelligent and gentlemanly. Aprils Scottish accent must have sounded rough in comparison.

A buzzer went off near the door. He rose from his chair and quickly crossed the room to open it. Instead of the hotel first aider April had expected, a fully uniformed paramedic entered. Mike closed the door behind her. " I hit her with a fresh hot cup of coffee" He blurted. " Not on purpose obviously. But it was really hot. It had a lot of sugar in it too"  The paramedic looked at him with a raised eyebrow almost scolding him with her eyes. She approached April and played her medical bag on the floor. Mike was awkward.  " I thought best to call someone who knows what they're doing. I'll give you some privacy, ill be in the next room" He left, and April couldn't help but feel relieved. " I'm Jenny, i''ll have a look and see what we're dealing with. Don't worry" She was young and pretty. April felt reassured. She started to unbutton her shirt. It felt sticky and gritty under her fingers. It pulled her skin as she peeled it off. Her chest was red and resembled a map. A long blister had come up just above where  Aprils bra sat. She loved that bra. It was such delicate cream lace. Or had been before the incident. April discarded her top and bra on the floor beside her chair." ooh" Jenny face screwed up. " It really stings " April said, her eyes watering. " I'm not surprised love! I'll clean it and dress it. I don't think you'll need a trip to hospital but definitely a follow up with a doctor. Jenny gathered supplies from her bag.  After cleaning the area and applying a cooling cream Aprils shoulders relaxed. Jenny placed a dressing on top and secured it with medical tape. " Get some painkillers.  " Jenny smiled. April had no choice but to put her stained shirt back on, minus the bra which she stuffed in her bag.Jenny collected her kit and stood up straight. " Bit of a price to pay to get into Mike Greys room" she jested. " I know right!" April squealed quietly. " I feel like such an idiot. They just...kind of..ushered me in. We've hardly said a word. I'm mortified!" April felt more herself upon speaking to what she considered a real person. " He'll be scared you sue him" Jenny said in a more serious note. " Its Scotland. Anyone else would have just told me to watch where i was going" They laughed together. There was a knock on the door at the other side of the room. In came Mike with a glass of water and sat it on the table in front of April. " She should be fine. She'll need to follow up with a GP. " Jenny told him. " Is it bad?" Mike asked concerned.  "  Sore but not too serious. Shouldn't leave a scar." Jenny waved, and made her way to the door. Mike let her out, locking the door behind her. " Do you have a bathroom i could use?" April asked. " Course" Mike opened a door beside the entrance. There were doors all over the huge room/lounge. He seemed to have access to the whole top floor of the hotel. Which made sense given his status. April walked into the bathroom and shut the door. She'd never seen such a beautiful bathroom. A huge bath sat on a platform in the middle of the room, all the fixtures were copper, the floor and walls marbled and gleaming. There was an oval mirror above the sink unit. She peered at herself. She looked exhausted. She had no idea how much time had passed. The day was like a dream. April washed her face with cool water trying to wipe away her smudged makeup. She wanted to go home and forget about the day. Surely Mike Grey was busy and keen to see her go. She was nervous. She would have to talk to him again, alone, with no buffer. The ordeal was over though. She could just thank him and leave. She left the bathroom. He wasn't there. Was it rude if she just...left? Was it rude if she stayed? Socially awkward at the best of times Aprils mind raced. She stood in the middle of the lounge listening for a hint. Mike came through yet another door, startling her slightly. " It's the best i could do on short notice" He handed her a grey v-neck t shirt. April took it and looked at it in her hand. It dawned on her that she had put her sheer shirt back on. Without her bra, and she stood, stained with coffee, exposed, in front of him. Her embarrassment heightened her senses, and her nipples tingled and pushed against her shirt. Her face burned scarlet. She walked straight back into the bathroom, almost slamming the door. She rested her elbows on the sink unit and dropped her face into her hands. no! she thought. What could she say? how could she face him now! She didn't even have a choice. She couldn't stay in that bathroom forever. She pulled off her shirt, again. Her alabaster skin was still mottled pink on the right side around the dressing. She slipped the T-shirt over her head. It was soft and cool. Freshly laundered it still smelled masculine, like aftershave. It hung on her frame loosely. She knotted it at the side so that it gripped her waist. " April, you have to pull yourself together!" she whispered to herself. She tossed her crumpled shirt in the waste bin beside the toilet, took a deep breath, and opened the door.

Mike sat on the arm of one of the chairs in the middle of the room. He had a glass in his hand, with bright orange liquid and ice. His eyes grew wide. April thought perhaps she had embarrassed him as well as herself. She bit the bullet, and broke the ice. " Just so you know. I am mortified. I am not weird, or mute. Just mortified. I could have said, hey don't worry about it and scuttled off home saving you all this drama. I don't know why i didn't. Thank you, for being so kind and accommodating. I'll leave you in peace, I'm sure you're very busy. I'll mail your T-shirt back to the hotel" Was she rambling now? Was this worse?  " I threw a burning, sticky cup of coffee at you. I am not in the slightest bit put out April. It is my drama" he laughed quietly. His eyes were soft, bright blue and piercing but soft and caring. Her heart skipped. " I'm not busy either. I have taken the day off. The least i can do, is offer you some lunch and carry on apologizing" He moved from the arm of the chair to the sofa beside him. He pointed with the hand he held the glass in, to the chair opposite him, the same way as he had pointed with his coffee cup earlier, sparking the whole crazy episode. April sat. " Whiskey and irn bru. Every time I'm in Scotland, i drink whiskey and irn bru. You're Scottish. would you like one?" April replied. " It is stereotypical for you to assume because i am Scottish, that i would drink whiskey and irn bru like a builder in a bar. But since you offer...i would love one. Happens to be one of my favorites." she joked. Mike poured her a drink. His fingers brushed hers as he handed it to her. April felt a tiny jolt up her arm. He was her fantasy and here they were, in a room, alone, drinking together as if they were normal people who'd met in a bar. She wanted to pinch herself to see if it was real. She sipped her drink. She had noticed how thirsty she was and tried not to gulp it down rudely. She needn't have worried about politeness. Mike had already seen her in a vulnerable state. She relaxed in her chair. " Tell me about you April. You already know me" Mike finished his drink and got up to pour another. " On the contrary. I know your profession. I know the characters you've played. I have no idea who you are. You are .....coffee stranger " She smiled widely. Her confidence was creeping back. Mike took Aprils glass and filled it. He sat down again, legs stretched out in front of him.  April Sat right back crossing her legs at the ankle. She had a feeling she was going to be here for some time.
