Have you ever felt the slow rhythm of someone stroking your hair? The gentle gesture brought upon a sense of security confiding between you and that person. The movement could easily send you off to a deep and dreamless sleep. With my head in his lap I knew I was safe here in the circle of his arms, whether he was stroking my hair or not. I could feel myself slipping into a deep sleep yet pushed myself to stay, to stay with him. I wasn’t ready to leave yet.
His fingers slowly tangled in my rich white hair as he laughed softly at my little purr. “You need to let go, love. Though I know you are unwavering on the matter to leave me it will only happen sooner or later, you will eventually fall into deep sleep.” Another rhythmic laugh escaped his lips.
“Mhmm, no.”
“Yes”
“No”
“Well I might as well wake up and save my self from the immortal damned.” I stood quickly to hide my smile; turning to walk away I felt a hand soft yet firm on my arm.
I was quickly pulled into his warm embrace at an inhuman speed. His shoulders hunched over me and a low growl escaped his lips in a protective nature. I giggled as he growled again, a scowl on his face; he drew back his teeth to reveal his fangs. He always did this when I mock threatened to leave. He surrounded me, preventing my own escape. I didn’t flinch.
A warm finger trailed down my cheek, then leaving a warm trail across my lips, gentle lips pressed into the back of my neck and a hand, rough from hard work trailed the space between my back and ribbon of my corset. I shudder.
“I don’t want you working at the bar anymore, ill fire you if I have to,” a whisper in my ear.
“You could, but I still believe you are not real, plus I have to work, where would I live? You know I have to work,” my voice dropped, “he’d kill me if I didn’t.”
“I know, I just hate it, you’re in danger every time you go in there, and I don’t want you in danger anymore. I can’t stand you being hurt. I wouldn’t know what to do.” He sigh, no doubt in frustration.
I gazed at the grass around us; the warm field was aglow with a soft hazed yellow. The trees gave off a vibrant green yet the trunks were the plainest of brown. I guess my imagination was all used up when it came to the finer points. Gently I felt his soft lips touch my hair as he nuzzled into my neck.I knew I was about to leave, my eyes dropped and I had to concentrate to stay awake. I slowly drifted into a deeper sleep as every second passed. I tried to pull his lips to mine but I was already gone.
Waking up i didnt need to ponder last nights dream, I have had many like it before but smiled at the thought of seeing my Dark Prince again, one could only hope tonight would not wear me out so much that i skipped REM sleep. I jumped out of bed with less enthusiasm than needed, even for a teenager. Picking clothes was hard, wearing them was humiliating. Normally I dressed in the dark and didn’t look at the clothes I wore. Though today was different. Being eighteen to this day I was breaking this foolish bond I was stuck in.
I wore the outfit I wanted to wear, black skinny jeans, a long blue corset top that came past my hips and a boyfriend jacket in a stripped black and blue. With killer suede black boots that I felt screamed danger. I grinned into the mirror. I looked hot, and for once I knew it. My make-up was limited but I worked with what I had. I knew I was dressing up in decent cloths for work, when I was safer in a short skirt and top that barley covered my bra, but how could I resist the clothes I just bought, they were calling out to me.
Leaving the house I kick started my jet black motor bike; (ok though not mine it was now, even if the owner had to depart with it by force) I headed to the club. The journey was short but I raced down the motor way with speed most police officers wouldn’t be able to catch. I was already late but it was too early for anyone to really notice.
The club was loud and I could tell the party had already started. At 3am, in this town it was the hour to be awake, it was the hour of all hours and people worked later in the afternoons just to get over the hangovers. Have you ever felt like you don’t belong? Well welcome to my world.
Vampires occupied most of the club; we humans had gotten used to them by now and just accepted what they are. Stupid fangbangers even lusted after them, sleeping with them and getting the pleasure in a bite. I had no choice in whether they bite me or not, it came with the job. But I had one rule, stick to the left. On occasion you may even see a werewolf come in, but the owner didn’t approve, he really didn’t want to piss off Malaky (Mal-Ak-E).
Bangs and screaming were not normally heard in the club, the music was to loud and people were having too much of a good time to notice. But one girl, the new waitress I noted, was too loud to ignore. Wrenching myself away from some vampire I ran to the noise, we had to keep her quiet or she’ll be killed. But I and the other waitresses were too late. On the floor at Malaky’s feet, stood a dead white sheet of a girl; she was drained.
I hated this, couldn’t he have at least had the common decency to do this outside? I signalled to two bouncers to come and dispose of the broken body. I shuddered as they lifted her and flung her outside. Into the cold. No one deserved that. Though, that’s what ill end up like, my hope sank, was I ever going to get out of here? I just had to keep thinking about him, ignore everything, this is all a dream, he is the real reality.
Serving drinks and whatever aspect of my body men could grab I worked till 3pm, when the party eventually stopped, ignoring the body now eaten away by disease in the alley. My ass had been groped; the left side of my neck bitten and scarred from multiple vampire wounds and my feet ached from slipping on spilled drinks. Working at a strip joint had no perks. People who sit at the club, vampires feeding off fangbangers, drunks getting high in corners, women groping each other, it just wasn’t my style. It was just my life.
Home was my sanctuary, though my dad inhabited most rooms I knew that five out of seven nights he wouldn’t even be home, tonight was one of those nights. How did I know? Because he woke me up this morning, he never stays two nights in a row, therefore he stay last night and not tonight.
I arrived out the house happy and excited to get to sleep and see him yet when I looked around all I saw was cars, sleek black and silver shiny cars, at least a dozen, parked in my drive way. I froze, this meant trouble. No one comes to my house, ever. I didn’t have friends and my dad didn’t know anyone that knew where we lived. My blood ran cold.
