Summary

This is the true story of my life right now. I really don't know what else to tell you except that, as difficult as this is to believe, this has actually happened to me. This is my life. If I had to sum it up in one word: strange.

Let me give you a little background, just for reference.

I am:

  • an only child.
  • 24 years old.
  • a substitute teacher.
  • a Mary Kay rep.
  • a Slumber Parties rep.
  • incredibly single.
  • not particularly happy about the being single thing.

In reference to the single thing, well, that's a long story. I dated my first boyfriend for six years (October 2003 - January 2009), and that relationship was shitty. The guy was abusive, and I don't just mean in the physical sense. That guy liked to fuck with peoples' heads. Things were pretty good at first, but then he weaseled me out of my virginity when I was sixteen years old. It was a super-shitty situation because he got me pregnant, and I had to tell my mom about it. She didn't speak to me for MONTHS. Then I miscarried near the end of my first trimester. When I got my "period" I allowed my mom to think that it had just been a false alarm. She was still ultimately disappointed, which sucked.

Fast forward a few months. My boyfriend at the time grew even more abusive. He played mind games. He would sometimes tell me the different ways he'd like to kill me, if he had to. He cheated on me with several girls and one guy, and rubbed that fact in my face, but I wouldn't leave him because I felt like he was the only chance I was ever going to have at a steady relationship. He made sure of that. Then he went into the military (I won't disgrace that branch by mentioning it), and got stationed in Japan, where he proceeded to cheat on me with various hookers. He rubbed that in my face, too. He enjoyed the fact that he could hurt me and there be no risk of me leaving him.

That whole clusterfuck lasted until early 2009, when I finally got fed up and ended things. After that I had a short-lived fling with a guy who was a member of the quiz bowl team with me. We had plenty in common, except that he was lovey-dovey and my ex had succeeded in making me terrified of commitment. After a few interesting but ultimately dissatisfying sexual encounters with that guy, I was ready to move on. Don't get me wrong, he was great in the sack, but there was too much going on there that I was too terrified to deal with.

I had another short-lived fling when I moved on to university from junior college. I mean SERIOUSLY short-lived, as in a one-night-stand that was so boring in allarenas that I almost cried with relief when it was over. Bless that poor guy...he had no idea what to do with his dick. I hope things are better for him now.

[Insert a three-year period of celibacy here.]

Here's where shit starts getting really insane (including a literalnervous breakdown followed by a short stay in a behavioral medicine unit).

The insanity I'm about to relate to you needs its own chapter, so I'll tell you all about the biggest asshole I've ever encountered in chapter two.
