Chapter one

My mother thought that I was being an idiot. I was just angry that she waited until the last day of school  to tell me we were moving to some place across the country. I sighed as I packed the last box full of my stuff. My room was now completely empty. Tears filled my eyes. I had wanted to get my first kiss with the hottest guy in school, and I had expected that to happen this summer. But now my plans were ruined since my mom ruined my life by telling me we were moving.

“ABBY! GET DOWN HERE THE MOVING TRUCK IT HERE!!” My mother yelled at me from downstairs. I wiped my face and grabbed my last box I needed to take downstairs. My mother smiled at me, and then hugged me tightly. “I am so happy you are trying to make this work for me.” I just nodded and pulled away from her.

After packing all the boxes in the back of the moving truck and my mom gave the man the address of our new house we got into our own car. It took about a day and a half to get there. It was horrible. My mother refused to stop until we got there so she made me sleep and then take her place at the wheel when she could no longer hold her eyes open.

When we got there I was surprised by how breath taking it was. Our house was beautiful. My mother was glowing with happiness. It was a two story house; it was white and old looking but still gorgeous. The windows dusty and you couldn’t see through them. The door was opened already. The moving van had already came just a few minutes before us and put all our stuff in the house.

My mom had already walked into the house and started unpacking. I was, however, walking around the back of the house were the woods started. I breathed in a huge breath. My new home was La Push, Washington. It was close to the beach. I loved it, now that I had gotten to see it. I couldn’t wait to go into the nearest place and meet people.

There was a little shop nearby that sold all sorts of stuff. Though it was small quite a few people were there. I went in and felt eyes on me. Blood rushed to my cheeks quickly, and I ducked my head. As I looked through an aisle of chips I felt like someone was standing next to me. I looked and saw him there.

His brown eyes made me almost melt to the floor. The guy’s light/darkish brown colored hair was cropped short, and he was very tall. Like everyone else I had seen so far his skin was deeply tanned. He smiled at me lazily, and for some odd reason it seemed wolfish. I automatically smiled back.

“Hey there you must be the new girl.” He said sticking his hand out for me to shake.

“Um, yeah, I am the new girl.” I smiled sheepishly taking his hand.

“Does this new girl in front of me have a name?” He asked.

“I, um, my name is Abby Raapack.” I said taking my hand away from his.

“Abby, that’s a very cool name. My name is Collin Barker.” He grinned wider.
