Summary

A self harm poem which reflects the drastic measures a person takes to escape the excruciating mental torture of those demonic voices which plague a victims mind. Disconnecting the mental pain is only replaced by the temporary physical agony which follows until one is finally put out of their misery for good.

MY BLOOD RUNS COLD

WHEN I TAKE THIS BLADE TO CUT MY SKIN
TO DISCONNECT THE PAIN THAT DWELLS WITHIN
I'M LEFT FEELING EMPTY AS THE BLOOD DRAINS AWAY
LEAKING FROM MY BODY ON THIS POINTLESS DAY
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NO FEAR,NO PAIN JUST A DESIRE TO SET MYSELF FREE
A STRANGER TO MYSELF FROM WHAT I USED TO BE
MY BLOOD RUNS COLD LEAVING ME FEELING EMPTY INSIDE
THERE IS NOBODY I CAN TALK TO IN THIS QUIET PLACE WHERE I HIDE
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SLOWLY I SLIP IN AND OUT OF CONSCIOUSNESS
LEAVING MY BLOOD STAINED CLOTHES AND THIS AWFUL MESS
WITH DEATH OPENING THE DOOR I LEAVE MY SHELL BEHIND
MY SPIRIT HAS MOVED ON,A NEW LIFE I WILL FIND
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LEAVING NO WORD TO WHY I MADE THIS CHOICE
IT WAS A NECESSARY EVIL DIRECTED BY THIS VOICE
PLAGUED BY INSANITY,GUILT AND A NEED TO RELEASE
SO THE MADNESS WOULD STOP AND MY SOUL COULD REST IN PEACE
