And with that he turned away from me. His eyes smoldering, with love and hate all at once. He turned his back to me, and stared at the ground. Like every last ounce of pride has been drained from him. There was a silence in the room, so loud, only my pounding heart dared comfort me. Then, without hesitation he turned back to me, sweeping in like a bird of prey on a tiny mouse. He grabbed me by my jumper, fists clutching either side of the zipper. He leaned into my face. So close I could taste his sweat with each gasping breath I took. A sting in my chest, as his knuckles dug into my bust. He stared at me for a second, as if trying to see into my mind, his eyes piercing into me like razor blades curtain me to the bone. With a roar of anger he tossed me across the room like I was nothing more than a ball of string. With the force of what seemed like a freight train, I hit the wall and slumped on the floor. He looked upon me, without even a hint of caring. The room was quiet again except for the sound of my tears on the lino floor. With every blink the room was darkening, and my head was filled with a pain I had never endured before. I was gasping for air, trying to stay awake. Terrified that if my eyes closed, they would never have the oppertunity to open again! He leaned over my battered body, adjusting his position to look me in the eyes. I couldn't focus, and I could barely see his outline. He chanted loudly " You dare say no to me?". He paused, waiting for a reply that wouldn't come. Again, this time louder he chanted," You dare turn me down?". I sobbed quietly, unable to move, or speak. I was defeated, lacking even the will to live. And then, as if an angel had intervened, I faded into the blackness of unconsciousness.
