Havana made her way to the door to retrieve the flowers she was sure Mathis had sent. He'd been sending her flowers since they met. It was a ritual she'd grown accustomed to and awaited with excited expectation usually. Today felt a little differently she made her way to the front door hoping that this strange feeling she was currently experiencing was due to lack of sleep the previous night.

She yawned sleepily and continued to the front door to retrieve the flowers. As she picked them up she inhaled the fresh scent of the Lavender Lillies her favorite flower as a result of spending countless summers at her Aunt Ida's who was a florist.

As she was reading the card that Mathis always took the time to make personal capturing only moments the two of them would know about. She smiled to herself recalling the memory he'd provoked. Making her way into the kitchen she grabbed the empty vase sitting on the counter to fill it with water.

As she was doing so the home phone rang. Assuming it was Mathis, she didn't bother saying hello she simply said: "Yes, I got them."  the person on the other end was silent for a moment which confused her. "Hello, got what?" the voice asked.

Realizing she wasn't talking to her husband she regrouped and replied: "I'm sorry, Who is this?" "Clearly not your boy toy." the voice replied sarcastically. Realizing the male voice on the other end was her older brother she laughed out loud. "Oh, Aaron, what are you doing calling me this early?" Clearing his throat after composing himself he replied:

"I have some awesome news and I need your help?" Havana moved around the kitchen effortlessly, cradling the cordless phone between her right shoulder blade and her ear as she started the coffee pot.

"Okay, what's up?" she answered matter of factly. She loved her big brother but he was always up to something. Part of her took pride in the fact his endeavors were usually legal so she couldn't complain too much. "I'm getting married he all but blurted out."

"What!" Havana practically yelled into the phone. "Again Aaron who is she this time?" Havana asked rolling her eyes barely concealing her frustration. This would be wife number three. Thank goodness he hadn't had children with the two others he'd married. Laughing at his baby sister's agitation he said:

"Relax, her name is Crystal Goodwin and we've actually known each other for some time she studied at Delaware State with me for about a year before transferring to Hofstra in New York. We dated briefly before she left and we reconnected on Facebook about six months ago." "Well. Havana said feeling somewhat reassured, "You sound pretty sure of yourself this time what's so different about Crystal?"

"I'll tell you what, I'll let you meet her so you can decide for yourself" Aaron responded. "Will you cater the reception for us?" Inhaling deeply Havana said I'll tell you what I'll make my decision once I meet her." Satisfied with this arrangement Aaron replied Fair Enough sis and don't worry I promise you'll love her!"

Taking a sip of her freshly brewed Hazelnut coffee she responded: "I'll be the judge of that." Aaron laughed and said: "You sound like our mother." I've got a meeting in twenty minutes we'll get together soon Love you, sis."

"I love you too Aaron I'll talk to you soon." After ending the call Havana laughed to herself shaking her head. Taking a seat at the marble Island in the kitchen she especially appreciated this time of day. Usually, because the boys were in school and Mathis was already out the door.

However, since it's Summertime the boys were now spending time with Mathis' parents for a few weeks and of course, Mathis was hard at work. She had a little bit of time this morning before she had to go into the office and she intended to take full advantage of it.

As she'd started letting her mind wander the phone rang a second time. This time, she was sure it was Mathis. Having learned from the previous experience she decided answering with "Hello" was the safest way to go. Havana picked up on the second ring.

"Hello?" "Hey, you!" Mathis crooned into the phone sending shivers up her spine. Getting right to the point she replied: "Hey yourself!" "The flowers were beautiful baby thank you!" "Anything for you," he said in a husky tone. "I'm surprised you're still at the house I thought you'd be gone by now." Making herself comfortable in his recliner she replied:

"Normally, I would be gone but I moved some things around so I could have a little meditation time since you and the boys were gone." Mathis chuckled, "I get it. Take all of the time you need sweetheart." "Hey, I've got a conference call in ten I'll see you tonight gorgeous." Smiling from ear to ear Havana replied:

"See you tonight lover!" After hanging up Havana's smiled remained in place for a few more moments before reluctantly pulling herself up from the recliner to get ready for work.
