"February 17th was a day Luca preferred to forget. Especially since he never knew what type of emotional state he would be in. Today marks five years since he'd lost the love of his life April in a horrific nine-car pileup on the freeway in Los Angeles. Normally, he'd bury himself in court cases up to his eyebrows. Except for today, he decided to take his brother up on the lunch offer he proposed about a week earlier.

Oddly enough, he'd chosen to redirect his cases to his brother in law Marcus Atkins one of the best attorneys at Binder, Wilks, & Carr. Luca hoped to one day start his own practice in Philadelphia which is where he relocated to after April passed. It was something she'd always encouraged him to pursue.

Sitting in the Hard Rock Cafe on this cold afternoon was only a reminder of the empty space in his heart that April's love filled up so effortlessly at one time. Absentmindedly deleting the junk mail from his inbox, he looked up at the precise moment his older brother Tristan was walking towards him.

Like Luca, Tristan was successful in his own right a wealthy orthodontist with a beautiful fiancée in Hollywood's newest leading lady Sabrina Spence. Her latest film Roses to the Dead was rumored to have grossed over 7 million dollars in under a week. As much as he hated to admit it, Luca envied his older brother just a little. He also admired him and that far outweighs any amount of envy he ever felt.

Once Tristan made it to the table he removed his coat and slid in the booth on the opposite side of his brother. Luca smiled,  "What's up big bruh? you looking good these days Sabrina must be putting the Voo do on you." Tristan laughed. "Man listen if word got out to the media the type of freak she really is TMZ would have a field day!" "I bet!"

Luca concluded shaking his head. "I like her though she's beautiful and smart and she's one hell of an actress you did well this time." "Cause, you know that hoodrat you call yourself trying to marry a few years back almost sent mama to an early grave.

She was not pleased with Latoya Jenkins  Candy Apple or whatever the hell her name was. "A video hoe bro, really?" "Thank God for growth." Dismissing his younger brother with a wave of his hand he responded: "Shut up man, I was young and dumb."  Laughing, Luca responded, "You got that right."

"Did you order yet?" Tristan asked changing the subject. Picking up his menu he replied, "No, I was preoccupied with these damn emails this Jack Shields case has the whole firm going nuts I have no time to think let alone eat."

"Jack Shields?" Tristan asked curiously "The guy who owns Royal Rush Casino in Atlantic City in Jersey?"What's he doing on your radar?" "As you know these sexual harassment accusations have been running rampant lately in the media and unfortunately Shields is the latest accused."

"I can't say much more since the case is ongoing but this is about to be a long ass couple of months." Shaking his head and placing a comforting hand on his brother's shoulder he replied, "I feel for you bro." After the waitress came over to take their orders, Tristan decided to get right to it.

Waiting for her to leave he sipped his coffee before he spoke. "Luca, you doing alright? I know today isn't your favorite with April's accident and all." Luca cringed at the mention of his only loves name. He wanted to lie and say he was fine and that he had every intention of forgetting about this day as soon as he made it over to Dominque's; his latest conquest in his sexual Olympics. Instead, he was honest.

"No man I'm not!" "I know today marks five years since April's been gone but it still feels like it just happened to me." "I miss her bad bruh." Tristan's heart broke for his brother the pain in Luca's voice was enough to make even the toughest of men break down. "Damn, Luc, I can only imagine I know it sounds cliche but healing is a process so, take all the time you need." "You know I got ya back."

"In fact, pop and I were talking about going up to the Poconos in a few weeks. If you can get away you should come too. It has been a minute since the Adams men got together and did some real male bonding. I know for sure we could all use it."

"I'll think it over," Luca said honestly.  Once they'd finished their meals Tristan had to get back to his office and Luca was left to his own devices he texted Dominque letting her know he would be there soon.

Smiling, he left the waitress a hefty tip and damn near skipped out of the restaurant and back to his car. At least for today, his heart wouldn't be bleeding for love lost. His heart wouldn't bleed for anyone else he would make sure of that.
