Master Me

Chapter 1

‘You’re following me.’  The tall, dark haired man turned into an alleyway off Bond Street, waited then grabbed the girl’s arm as she passed him.

‘What are you up to – what is it you want?’  He asked, spinning her round to face him.  He was only inches away, his handsome face pulled into a frown as his ice blue eyes raked her frame with cold mistrust.

Kate Langley shuddered – the man made her nervous.  She’s been tailing him for nearly twenty minutes and he was as impressive close up as he was from a distance.

‘Who are you – some gutter press hack after a story,’ he sneered, his shrewd eyes looking her up and down again.  But she didn’t look the type – cheap clothes and not hard faced enough.  She was young, blonde with a good figure, and she was pretty, pretty enough to fancy in fact.

‘What’s your game – and don’t bullshit me,’ he still had hold of her.  Kate could feel his fingers biting into the flesh of her arm.

She struggled, trying to pull it free.

‘Don’t fight me, you won’t win,’ he warned, as his fingers bit deeper.  ‘Tell me what you’re up to then I might let you go.’

‘You’re hurting me,’ Kate winced.

‘I’m good at that,’ he assured, a chilling smile hovering on his lips, ‘in certain situations, the pain I inflict has been described as exquisite.’

Kate had no idea what he meant, but she was beginning to wish she’d never started this.  He was twice her size and strong.  She’d looked this man up on the web.  There wasn’t much, but an ex had made a comment on a social media site warning women off.  Perhaps she had a point.

‘I’m not a stalker and I’m not playing some …some game,’ her voice quivered back.  ‘I want to speak to you, that’s all.’

‘You could have made an appointment – rung my PA,’ he let loose her arm and ran a hand through his hair.

‘I tried that – she laughed down the phone,’ Kate told him.

‘Didn’t consider you important enough, eh,’ he smirked.  ‘She’s very protective is Jane, sorry about that.’

‘So – can we talk,’ Kate asked?  ‘It really is important – I think you can help me find my sister.’

‘Do I know your sister?’

‘Cassandra Lange,’ she replied hopefully.  ‘She worked for you – in one of your clubs.’

Cameron Wilde’s eyes narrowed as he looked at the girl a little more carefully.  Cassandra’s sister – now that could be a problem.

‘I don’t recognise the name,’ he lied, shaking his head.  ‘You’re barking up the wrong tree – there are hundreds of clubs in London, she could have worked at any one of them.’

‘She could have, but she didn’t,’ Kate stuck her ground.  ‘She worked for you, Mr Wilde, at your Red Lace club.’

Wilde raised his eyebrows – did the girl know any more about the club other than its name he wondered?  ‘What did she do?’

Kate shook her head and shrugged.  ‘I’ve no idea, but whatever it was she was out most nights.’

So she didn’t know.  ‘I’ll ask the manager, give me your number, I’ll get one of my people to ring you.’

Kate scribbled her mobile number on the card he handed her.  With that he was gone, retracing his steps back onto Bond Street and quickly out of sight.  It wasn’t the outcome Kate wanted, but what choice did she have?  Cameron Wilde wasn’t the sort of man you could coerce into doing anything he didn’t want to.  But he did know something –she was sure of it.  There’d been something about his expression when she’d mentioned Cassie’s name.

‘I knew you wouldn’t get anywhere,’ Josh said when she told him.  ‘The man’s a complete mystery.  He’s incredibly rich, owns a string of clubs, some of them a little…,’ he paused, choosing his words carefully, he didn’t want Kate rattled.  ‘Dubious,’ he decided.  ‘Not the sort of place you’d take your Aunt, if you know what I mean.’

‘No, I don’t – a club’s a club isn’t it.  There’s boozing, dancing and general mayhem.  So what’s so different about the Red Lace?’

Josh didn’t want to tell her –but she was probably going to find out anyway – so what the hell.  ‘It’s a BDSM club,’ he told her with a smirk.

‘A kinky sex club – are you sure?’  He had to be joking - what on earth was Cassie thinking about?

‘Yep, positive - Cameron Wilde owns a whole string of them, here and in the US.’

‘What sort of a job would Cassie have in a place like that?’  Kate didn’t understand.  Granted her sister hadn’t given much away about her job, and now she knew why.

‘Serving drinks, or food – or perhaps her role was a little more ….,’ he paused again.

‘A little more what, Josh, a little more hands on,’ she said, this time her eyes flashing anger at him.  ‘Are you saying that Cassie was into all that stuff?  Are you telling me that she was …, well what, would she have been?  I don’t understand.’

‘People go to those clubs in couples or groups but a lot go alone,’ Josh explained.  ‘So someone is provided for them,’ he cleared his throat, ‘to play with.’

Kate’s face flushed.  ‘You’re saying that Cassie was nothing more than a whore – that’s it, isn’t it.  You’re saying that men paid to use her, that my sister was on the game.  Kate was livid – both with Wilde for being complicit in this and with Cassie for what she’d done.  ‘That’s why Wilde looked so cagey when I mentioned her name.  He damn well knew – and he had the cheek to call me names!’

Well she’d show him.  Mr high and mighty Wilde was going to tell her what he knew about Cassie, and if he refused then she’d tell the Police what he was up to.  Kate was sure there must be some law about running a place like that.

‘Get that slob gear off and dress up a bit – we’re going out,’ she decided.

‘We can’t go there – to the Red Lace.  They’ll never let us in,’ Josh warned, realising what she had in mind.  ‘It’s strictly members only and membership costs a packet.’

‘Oh we’ll get in, don’t worry about that,’ she assured him.  ‘But how come you know so much about a dive like that?’

‘I don’t, but it stands to reason,’ he replied shiftily.

Kate watched him shuffle from one foot to another – a dead give away with Josh. It seemed inconceivable that he would deceive her, but she’d have to consider it.  Cassie had been hiding a huge slice of her life and she couldn’t have done that alone.
