The pulmeria trees sulk, sweating the height of day. So many ways to express myself- I can't think of one. Those teardrop earrings you wore, crying down your neck. We stood in the kitchen, my hand over an open blue flame; I never learn. Feet on the beach like rubber soles scuffing at the tile. The child went wayward. I'll take the blame. Rage is a fistful so one more hit. You found your forever in a bottle of pills. Where they took you, you cannot be loved. Yours was a dark beauty: Sara with the dark hair, Sara with the dark eyes, Sara with the dark smile. Sara with the dark secret... The secret was, you didn't like life too much. So you cut right down to it, to the veins lain straight under the gentle flesh of your wrists. You bled out. But they saved you. So you just grew angrier, because you kept waking up. I showed you a different side- it wasn't enough. Naked on a beach towel, greedy for the other's body, then sharing a cigarette. I kiss the scars on your arms, the cruelty is nothing.
