My first step on ground brought thrills to my soul, each and everything around me was so stunning, so beautiful, so much changed. For a second the whole world changed I felt like I had landed on some other planet. The grass on the edges of runway, the bushes along its corners and the hills in the far surroundings were all gold plated. They were nit actually gold plated but it was the sun on the sky that was staring down on Earth on these beautiful natural flawless beauties and changed their appearance to gold. I could hardly look up at this wildly shinning golden Sun right above in my direction. The cloudless blue sky was enhancing the beauty all over. With the passage of every second that I took motionlessly standing there adoring the beauty around me, “TAK- TAK ; sounds of the women heels behind me and the dragging sound of men shoes came closer and closer towards me. Before I could break the eye contact with the surrounding beauty and look back to see what exactly was coming over me, folks of well dressed women, anticipated business men and fearless teens brushed away the air from my sides and headed desperately towards the inside of air port. It seemed as if a blow of wind passed by me crushing my veins I shook my head after I paused looking at these people as they wildly crossed me. I gazed down on the pathway and right afterwards with short steps I took as I followed those passengers. I couldn't believe the way they rushed towards the inside of airport “Are they so damn excited about seeing the world outside of this big stunning airport?” in my mind I couldn't bring the thought which was a fact that they were rushing because they had outside of this big airport their relatives standing before them waiting to receive them. I never believed that my country’s atmosphere could ever comfort me to that extent where I almost forgot that I had traveled all alone this much long distance in that plane, where everything was comfortable except the passengers who were not only strangers but very serious in their behaviors. I spent all my time quietly hearing my smooth breaths coming into and out of my nostrils while I had been seated on that soft seat which kept my eyes locked to the small screen that was attached on the back of front seat ahead of me. I reached the entrance which actually meant the exit for passengers. This took me 20 minutes to reach and I was by that time completely drowned in sweat from head to toe, because it was mid day and the sun was boiling the creatures on Earth with its heat. Summers had always been amazing in Pakistan and I never felt hot temperatures annoying as my body had adjusted to this climate, but this time I sweat because I was feeling such summers after 2 years. As soon as I stepped in, the cooling through air conditioners in the surrounding walls gave me freshness through my lungs. I was by then able to take deep breaths with comfort, my precipitated forehead dried and I took quick steps crossing the lounge and came across the luggage track where passengers were awaiting for their luggage to be deposited that they brought along with them. I stood at the back of the long passenger’s line and kept on looking at the moving tracks that were loaded with small and big bags. I didn't know why but I became too impatient my heart was beating and nerves were tensed, I wanted to get rid of this noise the passengers were making. This longest line of passengers moved slower than a train that irritated me mentally and I couldn't resist it a minute more, my eyes like hawks searched eagerly for my black bags which were loaded with my casual trouser shirts and one of them was filled with stuff toys and small clothes for my infant new born baby brother who was born 3 months ago and I didn't even saw him, just heard about his birth form my dad when I last called home. I became so damn excited to see him that as thoughts about him and imaginations about his appearance came to my mind, anticipations ran through my nerves, my heart started panting in my chest, my sixth sense clicked as a new luggage stock loaded on the track. I saw my 3 black bags one over another lying on the track. Without realizing the rules and regulations of the airport, I rushed breaking the long line of passengers. With my fingers wide open I grabbed 2 of my bags at once and jumped tossing back on my foot. I swear I never hurried this much ever in my life before for anything. I became so breathless as soon as I left that place while running holding one of the smallest bag and dragging the other two bags on the floor, I reached the main exit door of the airport. The two guards, one standing on the right and the other on the left side of the door wearing blue uniforms, opened the doors before me. I rushed out of the doors and as soon as I stepped out, I stood still, as hot sun searched for my face once more. The warmth blow of air entered through my nasal passage and in a microsecond blocked the fresh air that was reaching my lungs earlier inside the airport. A feeling of nausea traveled from my heart and filled throat. I completely got lost in this boiling hot atmosphere. I felt like my mind had never worked before. Every thought was blocked at this very moment. I hardly gulped in my saliva and widely opened my eyes to realize where I was and to know what exactly I was meant to do at that very spot. I still couldn’t get back to my memory. I wondered how people could live in such hot temperatures and still work so actively. With the amazement of how strong these people were I looked around in my surrounding which I had completely ignored once I stepped out of this airport. My jaws dropped down, my eyes were now widely open. The local people almost drowned into their sweats were standing all around me making a half circle. They were countless people; teens, kids, uncles, aunts and infants along with their moms were all standing squeezed with each other in crowds waiting for their foreign guests. After looking at these crowds standing at a distance away from me, I realized why I was feeling so sick; these people who had covered almost the entire exit area with their presence and had blocked the way of fresh air reaching the exiting doors. Crowds ahead of me, crowds behind me increased the level of suffocation. I hardly took few deep breaths while trying to reach for oxygen to deposit in my lungs. These people were not communicating in their native languages, they were instead chirping like sparrows. They were actually creating loud unwanted noise that I had never heard before. People seemed to be glued to each other there was no gap between them for me to slip out. Without knowing the consequences with confused state of mind I gained some courage walk ahead into the crowd. I came closer to a lady and a young man who were standing close to each other. My eyes were tracing the gap between them from where I could fetch out. Before banging my head with their shoulders I asked them for some space; “excuse me? Can I pass?” these were the first words that came out of my mouth after I had landed. The strange looks on both of their faces for me almost disappointed me. Before I could make a move, the young guy’s eyes narrowed he brought his brows closer and gave me a tensed stare. I stood surprised at his changed expressions. After a short pause his jaws dropped down, his lips parted to speak, in a low strange voice he questioned: “sorry? What did you just said? “ I took a deep relieved sigh as I first had thought he mind my requesting him. I gulped in my saliva and in a clear tone repeated what I had just asked him before. After which he just swiftly moved aside allowing me to pass out. As I crossed him I turned over and we traded smiles right after I thanked him for his favor. “Uhh!” at last finally, I was in peace now. The noisy crowds were finally left behind and no longer a bit of noise could be heard. I was now in parking lot. Here all cars were parked; some of them had drivers seated on their front seat while the others were all empty with the windows closed and locks on. Each and every lane of car park was filled with cars of different models some very latest and a few were old. Parking for special people were reserved. There was also a corner for bikes where all types of bikes were parked. The taxis were standing next to pavements with the drivers seated in them waiting for a passenger. As far as I could see my eyes could only find cars and cars everywhere in the parking area. This airport was very popular and one of the most used for international flights. I shook my head and jumped up on the pavement as I realized I was wasting my time looking here and there and wandering around. My right shoulder ached with the weight of two bags I had been dragging since last half hour while walking through the airport. I whipped off the sweat from my forehead. I did not know where to go, I was just walking and walking on the pavement counting my footsteps and looking silently at the flat shadow my body was making ahead of me. All those plans that I made before landing here at Karachi were now somewhere lost at the back of my head and it seemed as if I came here unplanned without any intentions. I didn’t know why but seriously I lost my mind, I didn’t know what to do where to go. I was just walking like a road Romeo unaware of my directions. While I was thinking over my situation in this quiet parking area I was suddenly taken by surprise. A loud sound of car horn echoed in the surrounding behind me. I jumped back on my toes and turned over to see what was behind me when my eyes locked with a stranger’s eyes. He kept on looking at me, as my eyes traced down his body, he was a dark man sitting on the driver seat wearing a seat belt waited for my response to his horn with a blank face. I really had no idea how to respond to it as my heart was beating fast in my chest and I could easily feel the hotness on my face and knew exactly how red my cheeks were appearing right now infront of him. This man pressed horn and it sounded so loud right behind me it scared me to death and derived my attentions as while ago I was completely drowned in my thoughts and was completely out of this world around me. I kept holding my weight on my feet and was frozen to the situation with my eyes still locked with his. He paused for a minute waiting for my response but I swear I couldn’t make a single move in response. He now made a move, he tightly held the steering with his right hand, and his fingers grabbed the steering tightly. He accelerated the car and I could hear his car acceleration very clearly because there was no ether sound in our surrounding it was all quiet. He brought his car inch ahead and much closer to me. I was now standing closer to his car’s front door. I didn’t know what was I supposed to do I was completely shocked and he surely had understood my mental condition through my expressions so within a blink of an eye he lowered his head and I could now clearly see his face inside, through the car’s window. He turned down the front door window of his car to speak clearly to me. I kept on looking at his quietly without making any move. His lips parted as his jaws dropped down to speak. “Salam! Where do you wana go?’’ as soon as these words left his mouth my face expressions changed I became more terrified and worries at this spot. Why this man wants to know where I want to go? Who is he? Do I really know him? What he wants to do with my answer? What do I tell him where am I going and why do I need to tell him? Do I really need to answer this unknown strange man? But inside a part of me was asking me where was I really trying to go? Why was I walking here? Was I really going somewhere? What am I doing here in parking? “Excuse me? Would you mind answering me? Am asking u a question miss, do you need a taxi ?’’, as soon as I heard these clearly spoken words coming out straight from his direction, I relieved a deep breath I had been controlling since long and relaxed my expressions on my face. This was the only time when I got back to my lost plans and in a blink of an eye I gathered the courage to reply him, “Umm yeah,… I wanna go mmm, to my house.” I delivered these words in uneven flow of speech as my mind was overloaded with confusion. “And where’s your house?” a quick response from his once again shook my memory and all my thought came right in front of my eyes like I found an old important lost piece of secret diary. Now this was the time when I went 3 years back and remembered every possible thing I gave a quick look to my surrounding and could now easily pick up answers from my mind to give to this strange man’s questions. I now pretended to be as confident and attentive as I could. I cleared my throat and clearly let out from my mouth “its 5 km ahead. It’s in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.” “Oh on my right side then?” “No, that’s the way to phase 5 and my house is in phase 1’. “Ouh! Alright then have a seat please.” My quick response to his questions had surprised him because he was least expecting me to have any clue about this area. I sat quickly inside this small taxi and rested my back on the seat. I kept 3 of my bags jumbled up in my lap and didn’t made any further move. As he accelerated and drove the taxi smoothly out of this parking area, I kept my gaze completely on the outside of front screen to show him that I was completely aware where of his driving. He kept on driving slowly as I could see his eyes locked with the traffic on the road. It took me half an hour to reach my destination. During the drive I kept quiet throughout the way and looked outside the car window to the greenery, people, and vehicles on my both sides of the road. We stopped on a signal for 30 seconds where I could see some little children going close to every car and begging for money, this thing really dropped my heart into stomach as I couldn’t afford looking at these beautiful angels struggling for life and I doing nothing about it. The signal turned green and the driver accelerated the taxi, now we were on a wider road, I turned down half of the side window and the fresh air reached me brushing away the hair from my face. I inhaled deep breaths trying to take in as much of this fresh air inside my lungs as I could it seemed like I was never to breathe again and it was the only time I had the chance to store in oxygen. I shut my eyes to enjoy the complete freshness of the surrounding. It had been long sitting in taxi and had my eyes still shut when suddenly the driver spoke and broke the peaceful silence, “we are here at phase 1 can you please let me know which street you want to go into and the house number? So that I can drop you close to your house?” I gave a quick revision to my memory and after a pause of a second I confidently guided him the address which to be honest deep inside of me I doubted. He drove the car smoothly towards the street lanes and kept on reading the street and house numbers written on every street board. It took him 5 minutes to find the street after which he spoke out excitingly like he conquered some Iceland while turning the car inside of a street, “here it is”. My heart paused beating now, I felt too worried because I hardly remember my street number and this street doesn't even resembled mine. He drove the car more slowly than before as to read carefully every house number displayed outside the houses on a house number plate. I scrolled my eyes back and fro at every house we crossed. I was busy looking at houses on my right and left when a sudden break was applied and I almost lost control and bumped my forehead with the back of front seat. “Here we go, Miss this is the house.” “Ummh where?” I looked at him in confusion, when he pointed with his finger on his right side towards a big house that had golden painted walls and a golden gate with designs on it. I stood still without any expressions on my face I looked at the house. I really didn't remember a house of this sort. My mind was not accepting that this was the same house I had been living in 3 years back. But without realizing him the situation I got out of the taxi with my 3 bags, I went ahead without noticing the driver and the taxi behind me. I reached the middle of the street walking towards the right side the driver had pointed me towards, it was still daytime and the sun was covering the roofs of houses I kept my looks on the gate of the house. I had no idea how t rang the bell of this house, I was not sure who would come out to see me and if that person will be known or not? Oh Gosh! If it won’t be the house I was supposed to be at how embarrassing the situation will be for me, where will I go then? How will I find my house? My heart panted in my chest I gasped for air, shook my head with no will I headed towards the house hoping for best I reached close to the gate of this big house when suddenly I was taken by surprise.
