It was the dark taste of power that called to me.  Pulling me toward an outcome that was undefined and twisted, but then…I had always been so.  When the sorcerer approached me, on a fine October night while wandering through Stockholm, I was delighted to make her acquaintance.  Her silvery tongue entranced me with promises that I had only ever dreamed of.  Maybe it was the chill of the night that had convinced me, or maybe it was the insanity which had always consumed me on the finest of nights.  Either way, a gift of the kind she was offering I could not bear to pass up.  And being the loving younger brother that I truly was, who was I to not invite my dearest brother and sister.

Keen words were exchanged between my brother, Lukas and I, he never was happy with my decisions as it were.  I knew I had them by my side when Claudia, my sister, gave Lukas a scornful look.  And so at my young age of twenty-three I led my kin back to the dark corner to the sorcerer.  The smile she had greeted us with was full of lies and deceit, my favorite kind of smile.

“The journey will be a long and painful one, but this pain will bring you both power and immortality,” She had told us, hunched over her glowing pot and spell books.  My mouth watered readily; already I could taste the vile spell she was cooking up that would turn us into godly immortal beings.  I would be free to run rapid and do all that I pleased. A smile just as crooked as the sorcerers had come onto my face I recall, how many years of murder did I have lying before me?  How many plots to twist and mangle?  I will admit that I was quite excited.

However, my siblings did not look as thrilled as I.

“Lu, what would Moder and Pappa think?” Claudia fretted and clung onto Lukas’s arm.  I could picture her forehead creasing, as Moder’s always had before her untimely demise with the house fire.

My brother shifted, he was surely tempted, and he cleared his throat before speaking, “Sister, it was our very brother before us who did away with our parents, to trust him now, are you mad?  What poison has overcome you?” His wild words made the hairs on the back of my neck stand.  In a swift and sharp turn I faced the two I had always loved.

“Dearest Broder and Syster, do you not see what it is I am offering to you?  Do you really wish to grow old and die?  Or perish before your names are etched forever into time itself?  Do you not dare to venture in these black magic’s with me?  Please, it is all I ask,” I begged with them, my eyes shining against the torch light that hung just outside the darkness.

I watched Lukas’s eyes grow dark, a snarl twisting his face with the words he could not mutter to me.  Feeling I had them convinced, I turned back toward the sorcerer, the age lines on her forehead softened with patience.  “We three lay our lives to your dark powers; do undo us as you have promised!” I nearly squealed with murderous delight.  Neither my brother nor my sister whispered a word.  Finally the sorcerer ushered the three of us closer, a smile upon her aged face.

“So be it,” She answered quietly.I had to taste this power, but I knew that a simple taste would never be enough.  I knew from the very moment I laid eyes on the sorcerer that I would hunger for decades for more
