Chapter 1

Hello, my name is Breanna Lock-Heart and I'm going to give you the entire story of my high school life. From freshman year to senior year. You'll have all the details, from boyfriends to best friends. And you'll even know about my 'annoying as hell' mother. So, to start the story off, I'll just start from the beginning.

*Last day of summer*

"Ugh!" I moaned, lazily reaching my hand out from under the covers and slamming it down on my alarm clock.

My hand fell off the alarm clock immediately and landed at the side of my bed.

Great, today is the last day of summer and I haven't gone shopping yet. 'Better call Amanda' I thought.

I reached for my phone on the night stand next to my bed and flipped it open. Searching through the pre-programmed contacts in my phone, I came across her name. I pressed send and put it up to my ear. I listened for what seemed like forever, then finally she answered saying:

"Hello?" Her voice sounded groggy, so I must have woken her up.

"Sorry to wake you up, but I'm in a panic mode here. Today is the last day of summer AND I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!!" I yelled the last part because, well, I was panicking.

"Ow! Don't yell! Okay, calm down. Don't panic. Grab some money and I'll pick you up for the mall in two hours." She said in a calming voice.

"Okay. Thank you so much. You have no idea how much of a life saver you are right now. See you in an hour." I pressed end and shut my phone.

Today is going to be fun. After all, we are going to the biggest mall in the mall.

*An hour and 45 minutes later*

Okay, so I've taken a shower, brushed my teeth-don't want to have bad breath- combed through my hair, put my shoes on, got dressed- got dressed then put on shoes, hehe- and last but not least, did my make-up. It didn't take much make-up for my face to look pretty. All my friends tell me I'm so pretty I could go my entire life without wearing any make-up.

Now I was waiting at my front door for Amanda. '15 minutes couldn't go by any faster' I thought.

'BEEP, BEEP!!!!!!!'

'Finally' I thought.

I went out the door and locked it behind me. Running to her car, not really watching were I was going, I nearly tripped on one of the many giant rocks my mother "decoratively" put in the front yard-for decoration my ass. She probably wants to kill me with one of them.

"Bloody rocks." I mumbled to myself.

When I got to Amanda's car I angrily opened the door.

"You really gotta start watching out were you're walking." She told me, shaking her head in disappointment. She backed out of my drive-way.

"Oh shut up." I snapped.

"A little moody are we? Did mother-nature decide to give you a little visit?" She asked, laughing her ass off.

"Screw you!" I said, even more pissed now, because the fact was, she was right.

"You so are!!" She squealed.

"Whatever." I said, rolling my eyes.

*15 minutes later: at the mall*

"Okay, so what exactly are we looking for." She asked, looking at me.

"I don't really know. Something different. Something.....not me." I said, scratching my head.

"So basically, you want something emo?" She asked, tilting her head.

"No! Ew, no!" I said, scrunching my nose.

"Good. I thought I was going to have to knock some since into you.....okay, so, something......Got it!!" She said holding up a neon green T-shirt with a hot pink skull on the front.

"Ew, no!!" I said, shooing it away with my hands.

"Okay, what then?" She asked, putting her hands on her hips, frustrated.

"I don't know.....I guess I'll just stick with the way I look." I said, putting my hands in the air and dropping them to my sides, also frustrated.

"Oh. My. Gosh!" She said, freaking out.

"What!?" I asked, looking around, trying to find out the problem.

"There's a hot guy with a cute ass over there in the mens department." She said, jumping up and down and pointing to a guy with hair that was so dark of a brown, it would look black in dim light.

"You can't even see his face, so how do you know he's cute?" I asked, crossing my arms and taking my eyes away from his familiar big head.

"Because, guys with cute asses usually have a cute face and a hot bod." She smiled, pleased with herself.

"Well then, why don't we go say hi." I suggested. Bottom of Form 2 "And here I was, thinking you were the shy one." She said, smiling at me.

"Shut up. Let's go." I said, grabbing her hand.

We walked over to the guy, he was talking to who I'm guessing is one of his friends.

I tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around and I gasped. He must of heard me cause his eyes got really big. I knew the back of his head looked familiar. I've seen it to many times to not to.

"Um.....my friend here wanted to get to know you, but she's a little shy, so I came over to help." I couldn't stop myself. It was an affect he's always had on me. I've never been able to lie to him. Sure, I could lie to other people, but it's like he had this power over me that was beyond me.

His eyes softened. "I thought you were always the shy one." I felt like my throat was tightening. Oh no, that meant I was going to cry.

"David." I was barely audible, but he heard it.

"Hello Breanna." He said, smiling at me.

"You two know each other?" Amanda asked, looking between me and David.

"Um... yeah. We were childhood friends." I said, not taking my eyes away form David.

"Best friends." David said.

"Yeah." I was still transfixed in his eyes.

"So what happened?" She asked.

"He left." I said, then turned to walk away but someone grabbed my arm. I looked to see who it was.

It was David.

"What?" I asked in frustration.

"Can we talk...In private?" He asked in serious tone.

I looked into his eyes and saw something I've never seen in them before.......regret.

"Please?" Was he begging?

"Fine." I said, jerking my arm out of his grasp.

"I'll be back Amanda." I said.

"See you later Chuck." He waved to the Chuck guy and pulled me out of the store.

*In an alley next to the mall and starbucks*

"Why did you drag me into an alley?" I asked, a little creeped out.

"Don't worry, I'm not going to try anything funny. I just wanna talk privately and it's kind of hard to do in a mall full of thousands of people." He reassured me putting his hand on my shoulder.

I backed away from him.

"Okay, talk." A said, trying to make it sound as harsh as I possibly could. It didn't work out to well.

"Look...I'm sorry I left but I had to. My dad got a job in Honolulu. It was either go with him, or get shipped to Mexico, and I sure as hell wasn't going to chose Mexico." He said looking me in the eyes the entire time.

I could feel tears start to form in my eyes. My breathing quickened.

"Shh..please don't cry Breanna." He said, taking me in his arms.

I wrapped my arms around his waist for support and started to cry allowed.

"You have no idea how much I missed you. How many times I broke down crying at night. How many times I dreamt of you coming back. And now your here. You're finally here." I said in between sobs.

"It's okay. I'll never leave again. We'll be friends forever." He said, hugging me tighter.

We stood there for another five minutes and then I pulled away. Looking at his shirt, I said, "Sorry for ruining your shirt." I looked at his face and he was smiling.

"I don't care about the shirt. I care about you, and our friendship. I can always buy another one." He said, his smile getting wider.

I hugged him again, but this time it wasn't a comforting hug, it was a happy hug.
