LIGHTHOUSE

Like a ship on a stormy sea

My cargo too valuable to lose

Rocked and buffeted by the swells

I plow on to my destination

Determined as the bow of my ship

I am built tough and strong

Meant to survive

But even my thick hull

Is not impervious to the waves

That constantly slam into me

The crew of one is tired an alone

No solace to mind

Just the constant upkeep and maintenance

Plotting the course

Monitoring the cargo

She showed up

Like a lighthouse beam

Distant and intermittent

But bright and unwaveringly consistent

A beacon of hope

Giving me a location

To chart my final destination

Beckoning me to shore

Guiding me toward calmer water

A promise of safe harbor

An Angel of the sea

She watches over me

Guides me to a firmer shore

A light that offers more

A home for a weary soul

A love that can make two whole
