Summary

Alice Saunders is a young woman bound by social expectation. Her fate is to be maried and put on display like a China doll. But she dreams of something more. Little does she know that her adventure will come in the form of a mysterious white haired stranger who steals more than just a kiss, and who lures her into agreeing to a 'game of fate' before sending her careening into darkness. When she awakens, Alice finds herself in a strange and wondrous land like something from a fairytale. She is told that the only way to return home is to find the white rabbit, the one who brought her here, and win the 'game' he placed her in. Easy enough, except for the fact that every creature in this world is irresistibly attracted to her! In a world that defies logic, will Alice be able to keep her goal in mind? Or on her path to freedom will she lose herself in this twisted world of ecstasy and pleasure?

Prolouge:

Into the Rabbit's Den

I never imagined that my life would go like this. When I was a little girl, I used to wander the gardens alone, playing imaginary games, creating entire worlds to spend the day in. What else was an only child supposed to do to pass the time. Within the confines of my green paradise, I fancied myself to be a princess, adored by all, free to do as her will demanded.

Even now I find solace in the gardens, where I loosen the shackles placed on me by society and wander, immersing myself in the nonsensical dreams of a child in order to escape the harsh truths of reality.

I was engaged to be married to a man I hardly knew, and there was nothing I could do. Unlike the silent roses and pale faced daisies, my parents had no interest in my opinion. I was simply the path which would lead them to even greater wealth and power.

I was no princess, just a tool.

Today I was supposed to be inside, playing the part of the blushing bride-to-be. So far, I've been acting  rather well. It was an honor, afterall, to be marrying the Duke of Mayton- I would never want for anything.

Yet, here I stood, wanting nothing more than to disappear into the darkness and never return. I longed for...something in my life, and I knew for certain that it was not something that the Duke could give me.

Passion, adventure... love perhaps. Whatever it was, it was too late to find out. Soon I would be trapped by the gold ring round my left finger, and there was no chance for anything getting better.

"Alice." The voice reached my ear, drifting over like the gentle rustling of leaves-barely audible.

"Alice..." I spun towards the origin of the voice, immediately facingg an ominous figure dressed in darkness but for the white mask adorning it's face, and the gleaming silvery white of its hair in the moonlight. My breath caught, my heart stopped. I was enchanted.

"Who, who are you...?" I started. The figure did not reply, but turned away and began making its way through the maze of hedges. I followed closely behined, able to spot the figure just before it disappeared a corner.

"Wait, wait!" I called, but the figure did not stop. Finally, I ran around one of the hedges to find myself at the center of the garden. Walking forward, I looked for the stranger, but saw nothing but moonlight and  darkness.

"Hello?" My voice echoed, lonely in this overbearing silence.

"Alice..." Hot breath steamed across my neck as a pair of hands slipped round my torso. I gasped, attempting to pull away, but the torso pressed to my back would not let me budge. The nape of my neck grew hot as the stranger slid kisses across my bare shoulders, raising his right hand up across my chest to my throat.

"W, who...?" I started, but was cut off as my head was twisted to the side, and I was forced to look into a pair of still blue eyes framed in white. They swallowed me up like a pool of cool water, turning the heat of this man's touch into a mind numbing chill as his hand slipped under my dress.

"Stop." I managed breathlessly, but he swallowed my words, pressing his lips to mine and forcing my mouth open with one swift movement of his tounge. He tasted like mint, yet sweet, as if I was liking a cube of sugar. His hand slipped around my back, his fingers massaging the space between my legs. I moaned, my mind going numb. All I could see were those eyes, pale and smooth as throwing stones peering at me from behined a white mask. Pulling away, a smile formed on his lips, his eyes twinkling as they looked down on me. He paused, his opaque hair gleaming In the lacquer moonlight, every ridge in his face accented by shadows. Then he leaned foreward, his lips brushing my ear.

"You've grown so much, Alice." I bit back another moan as his fingers continued to move beneath my skirt. "And now it's time to take you away." His other hand, no longer trying to keep me at bay, entangled itself in my hair.

"Let's play a game, just you and I. If you can find me, I will give you a single wish. But, Alice, if you dont, I will come find you, and you will stay with me forever. How does that sound, my little butterfly?" What on earth was he talking about? I couldn't think straight, not like this. But I didn't want him to stop.

"Will you play a game of fate with me, little Alice?" The movement of his fingers quickend, and I felt as if my legs were about to give away. I couldn't hold back anylonger.

"YES!" I cried, and I could here a soft chortle come from the stranger.

" very well, Alice. I will see you again, in my world." Suddenly my legs gave way and I was falling down, down, spinning into the darkness. I gazed upward at the stranger, like an angel in the moonlight, his smiling eyes watching me until there was nothing at all.
