Summary

"You've been very naughty" The girl said as she kneel down to take away the knife she had lodge in my arm. "Go f*** yourself" I spat at her. "Hey watch it, I don't think you want anymore blood coming out of you at this point." Some people believe in graduating school with a high GPA and Honors, while others believe in one thing and one thing only, winning prom Queen or King. Well, lets just say some of them would KILL for this title.

"Breakfast is ready!"

"Okay mom, give me a second!"

Okay let's cut this short because I really don't have that much time until the bus gets here. My name is Edindra Patterson, but everyone calls me Edna. I'm a small town girl that just moved to Las Angeles because my mother won a 1 million dollar lottery ticket. This means that I literally had to leave everything behind; my friends, my boyfriend, and also my overall life, not that I'm complaining. I get to go to the most luxuries and popular school in Las Angeles, Caprizon Academy. I don't really know the just of things yet, or how the entire school works to separate the loser kids from the rich and awesome kids, but hey, I say it's all worth it just to step foot in a school that values education to a point of giving kids rides in the school's jets. Pretty cool right?

"Okay is it me, or does it seem like the summer went by like that?"

"It's not just you, baby."

I'm sitting at the far end of our table, gobbling down the runny eggs that my mom made for me. Mom was standing near the stove poking at what I believe was a steak, but burnt. She never was a good cook, but she promised me that after we were all settled in our new house, we would get a chef and maid.

"So, how are you feeling about the first day at your new school?"

Mom finally gave up on the ash pile that was supposed to be our lunch this afternoon, and sat down next to me, taking off the Kiss Me apron and setting it down on the table surface.

"Like how I felt in the first day of preschool."

"Ha, yeah I remember it like it was yesterday, you wouldn't let go of your father's hand until..."

Mom clasped her mouth shut with one of her hands, clearly shocked that she had brought up my nonexistent father since the age of 10. I tried to change the conversation as quickly as possible; I want this day to be as happy and awesome as possible.

"I'm just feeling a little nervous is all, but I'm pretty sure I won't stand out to much."

"I hope that's not the case honey. Don't worry, you will make as much friends as you have made back home."

With that, Mom gets up and plants a kiss on my forehead before returning back to her faithful post at the stove. I had always admired my mother's enthusiasm and positivity for everything. After my father sneaked his way out of our lives, I always thought it was only a matter of time until she cracked and went into a spiraling depression of hate and sadness. That never happened thankfully.

I finished the last of my eggs and say,

"Bye Mom, the bus is here."

"Okay sweetie! Make sure to have an amazing day at school."

"For sure."

I grabbed my bag and walked toward the door of our house, opening it and taking it all in. Our neighborhood was beautiful to say the least. Yards and yards of humongous houses you would mistake for mansions settled in a parallel line to other houses across the street from here. Everything was so goddamn beautiful and the bus, oh god the bus. My eyes fell on a stunning golden transportation vessel with series of diamonds that decorated its front and back parts. It seemed like something you'd only find in a dream. My heart fluttered as the sleek black doors of the dream like bus started to open, giving me a glimpse of a woman in a tuxedo taking on the wheel. She looked down at what appeared to be a list of names before turning her full attention to me and saying,

"Are you Edindra Patterson?"

My heart felt like it was going to jump out of my throat and onto my shaking hands. At this point, I wanted to run back into my house and tell my Mom that I wanted to go back to my old house, that I wasn't cut out for this type of life, but something told me to move forward or I would regret not doing so. So, this is what I did.

I looked down at my red, soaked with sweat hands and said,

"Yes, that's me."

"Well get on! We don't have all day." Her response was so demanding and bitter that all I could think about while climbing inside the bus was how stupid I sounded, causing me to skip a few steps and land on my shins. That got a few laughs and glares from the students inside the bus. Great first impression Edna!

The lady rolled her eyes so hard that I was afraid that it would permanently be stuck in the inside of head. It took full will power to get up and sit on one of the seats without having a mental breakdown. I mean, this was my first day of school and I already have myself looking like a complete duntz.

Even with the embarrassing fall, the bus ride was peaceful for the most part, me listening to music on the iPod my grandmother had given me before I left my town. Staring out the window, actually looking at the new life that was before me gave me a strange feeling of excitement, as if I was starting off on a new adventure. Ten minutes had gone by until my serene moment was ruined with a soccer ball bumping off the top of my head. I gave a low "ow" while rubbing the spot the object had knocked me.

"Oh shit! You okay..."

A boy with leather jeans and jacket was standing above me. His eyes were just the right intense color of blue while his smile could literally melt Antarctica. Everything about him was just perfect...

"You like what you see?" He said bending down to retrieve the ball that had landed at my feet. Shit! I was staring! I quickly looked away as my face turned red, trying but failing to hide my embarrassment.

"Hey, don't feel bad about it. I get the same reaction all the time." I looked back up to see that he was a mere 4 inches from my face, his breath giving me shivers.

"So you're new right?"

I regain my composure as much as possible before squeaking out a little

"Yes."

"Oh that's cool." He spun his ball on his middle finger before replacing it back under his arm. Everything about him was so perfect.

"Brandon! Stop talking to that girl and get over here!"

Brandon, so that's his name! Brandon and me look back to find a black girl with a extremely long pony tail sitting at the back of the bus, with a intense glare sitting on her face. She had to be the prettiest girl I've seen in a while, and I pretty sure most of the guys thought so too, since they were all crowded around her like a swarm of flies.

"Well, I think I gotta go new girl! Sorry about the ball!" He looked down at me with the most heart melting smile before walking to the back of the bus. He defiantly seemed like trouble but even thinking about him gave me butterflies.

Before I knew what I was doing I look back to get a glimpse of him one more time, but to my demise found him lip locking the black girl from earlier. I pretty sure she was looking at me then, as if she wanted me to see her kissing her boyfriend. Great, first day of school and I've already made a rival! I turned back to the window I was staring out of, I not doing anything but feeling like the most stupid person alive.
