“What do you mean?” Drew rested on his elbows and stared into Todd’s face. “Not taking care of business…how?”

Todd stiffened with tension; why had he confessed that? Lane was the only other person he’d told. Of course, who the fuck knew how many people Tonya had told—surely all the men she’d been fucking on the side. If she was doing her ski instructor, then he could damn well bet she had fucked others, too. No doubt some of Todd’s own friends.

Yeah, and you’re getting jacked up over a guy when you can’t even get a decent hard-on with her—you’re even.

Todd swallowed and shook his head, keeping his eyes closed. “Nothing,” he whispered thickly and started to roll onto his side, but Drew’s body had him pinned to the bed.

“Hey,” Drew said. “I’m not here to judge you. Just curious why a stud like you isn’t taking care of business with his girlfriend.”

Exhaling deeply, Todd raised his arms and dragged his hands through his hair. Tears hovered behind his closed eyelids. One had already slipped out. He wasn’t typically an openly emotional person, and the last thing he wanted was to fucking cry in front of this guy. The overload of emotions confused him, but as soon as he’d come…he had nearly broken down. And that threat still hovered so closely to the surface—and he didn’t fucking know why.

He sniffed as his throat clogged and more tears welled behind his closed eyes, building at the corners, ready to push out. His arms came down, and his hands dropped unintentionally on Drew’s shoulders, lingering tensely against his hot, damp skin. “I just…can’t.” His throat worked, and his fingertips pressed into Drew’s trap muscles as his breath quickened and became unsteady. “I don’t know why.” Drew remained silent, and Todd slowly opened his eyes, releasing a flood of warm tears down his temples. “I can’t…get…” He shook his head again as the shadowed ceiling blurred and the cinnamon aroma in the air saturated his senses. The bed suddenly felt extra-soft beneath him and the weight of Drew’s body…like a security blanket.

I wish I never had to leave this room. The thought hit him strong and sudden, making him flinch.

“Mm. I see.” Drew curled his hands around Todd’s forearms and rubbed slowly up to his wrists then slid his palms over the back of Todd’s hands. “And now it’s freaking you out because of what just happened here? Because you could…with me?”

“Yeah,” Todd whispered and closed his eyes again.

Drew laced his fingers through Todd’s and gently squeezed his hands. He kissed Todd on the lips. “Can I…” He brushed his lips on Todd’s throat. “…make an observation?”

Nodding slowly, Todd opened his eyes. An unexplainable warmth swept through him as Drew held his hands in an intimate grip.

“After it happened the first time,” Drew said. “Or…didn’t happen…did you start worrying that whenever you and your girl began to get busy, that you wouldn’t…rise to the occasion?”

Todd nodded again.

“And your girlfriend…” Drew murmured and tightened his hold on Todd’s hands. “How is she handling it? Is she understanding…supportive?”

Tonya? Todd swallowed the short, bitter laugh that formed in his throat. “Not exactly,” he whispered. “She gets all worked up and wants to fuck, and when I can’t follow through…she gets pissed and says…” he cleared his throat, his stomach churning. “…what kind of pathetic man can’t get it up when he has hot pussy right in front of him.”

Drew sighed and gazed at him. “Is she cheating on you? With someone who can get the job done?”

“Pretty sure,” Todd admitted quietly. “But I don’t think it’s just someone. I think she has a lot of go-to guys.”

Drew brought Todd’s hands to his lips and kissed his palms. “Do you want me to tell you why it was so easy for you to get hard with me, and not her?”

Fear drained through Todd’s veins as he stared at the guy.

Drew smiled and kissed his mouth. “Relax, baby,” he breathed against his lips. “I’m not going to say it’s because you’re secretly gay.” His smile stretched, and he kissed him again. “Although I wouldn’t be opposed to that notion, you would make one hell of a hot gay man. Of course, I think all sexy guys should be gay.” He sighed and winked. “In a perfect world, maybe.” He shook his head and chuckled softly. “In reality, though, I think there is a simple, logical reason for your enthusiastic cock tonight.”

Todd looked at him doubtfully; how could any of this be simple and logical? Nothing made sense to Todd tonight.

“You stress yourself out trying to get it up with your girlfriend,” Drew said. “Because you know if you don’t, then she’s going to ridicule you and make you feel like less than a man.” He pressed his lips to Todd’s fingertips and held his eyes. “But with me…you didn’t care if you got hard. And I’m guessing was hoping you wouldn’t. Am I right?”

Swallowing thickly, Todd nodded.

“The stress wasn’t there. I mean, of course, you were stressed about tonight, but it wasn’t the same stress as when you’re making out with your girlfriend. That part of your mind was relaxed and in turn…it allowed your body to relax as well and just…become stimulated on its own terms, without being forced.” He released Todd’s hands and stroked his fingertips through his hair. “And after so much suppression…a little non-stressful arousal kicked it into overdrive. Your body was desperate for release; that’s all.” He rolled his hips smoothly against Todd’s member—which was quickly growing hard again. “I don’t think it’s finished yet, either.”

Todd trembled; could he be right? That it was simply the lack of stress that made it possible for him to get an erection? Hadn’t Lane also suggested it was stress inhibiting his abilities?

“Before you…ask me to fuck you,” Drew smiled and kissed him again. “Can I make a suggestion? It’s totally none of my business, but it’s just a suggestion. Only you can decide if you want to put it to use.”

Before you ask me to fuck you. Todd didn’t know how to respond to that part of it; was it so hard to imagine…after what had just happened between them? “What suggestion?” Todd asked with guarded uncertainty.

“Get rid of your girlfriend,” Drew murmured. “Find someone who cares about you, and not just their own satisfaction. Someone who will stand by you through the hard—and not so hard—times. That’s how you know if it’s real…if their concern for you surpasses their own wants and desires.” He pushed his hands deeper into Todd’s hair and kissed him softly. “Life is too short to waste it on people who don’t give a shit about you.”

His eyes swimming, Todd whispered, “Every year I came up here to the lodge, I treated your friend like shit. Why do you care if I’m with someone who treats me the same?”

Drew kissed him between the eyes. “Because I think you have the potential to be a nice guy.” He rested his head against Todd’s brow and smiled. “With the proper influence.”

The sincerity in his tone stunned Todd. Before arriving at Drew’s room, a flood of horrifying scenarios had plagued his mind. He’d been prepared to be treated roughly, fucked relentlessly and without mercy. He hadn’t been prepared for this. Any of this.

From the word Go, Drew had given him the two things he’d deserved least; respect and compassion.

Drew’s face blurred as Todd stared up at him. “Do you really believe that?” he whispered thickly.

“I do,” Drew confirmed softly and brushed his lips against Todd’s mouth. “I believe every man has the potential to be a good guy. He just has to want to be.” He stroked his thumbs down Todd’s temples, wiping away the tears. “Do you want to be a good guy, Todd? A nice guy?”

The heat of Drew’s body warmed Todd all the way through, and he hesitantly touched his hands to his skin as his throat squeezed, glazing his eyes with a fresh film of tears. “Yes.”

“Mmm.” Drew nuzzled his ear. “That’s good.” He scraped his teeth on Todd’s earlobe and along the tendon in his neck down to his chest and lower still until his mouth grazed Todd’s semi-hard dick.

Pleasant sensations tickled his crotch and up into his lower stomach. His cock jerked to the left when Drew teased the underside of the head with the tip of his tongue. “Shit…” Todd moaned as his dick stretched and thickened. He tried to hold onto Drew’s theory concerning his “enthusiastic” cock. He wasn’t ready to consider anything else.

Would he ever be ready for that? Todd couldn’t imagine it. At least, he didn’t think he could. But as Drew slowly dragged his full tongue up Todd’s dick and sucked the tip—his cock turned to granite, and his closed mind began to ease open like a resistant door with rusted hinges; protesting…yet nevertheless submitting to the persistent opposing force on the opposite side determined to gain entry.
