Summary

Every teenager at least since the 1950s has had the experience of his parents telling him off about buying girlie magazines. But should he get a digital camera or not do it if people tell him not to? And are his problems something deeper than just teenage angst? They might be.

That greater wonderful mess which is life

As when young, they said, 'Listen to your teachers!'

And when a teen

They said, 'Don't look at any naked girls!'

On leaving school, they say,

'Get a job', 'Get a career' or 'Have you a moneymaking bent!'

No way!

I just need money, to go out

For now and then think later of anything else

But then, there is drink, people smoke joints,

Waking up stoned,

Something in life died

Before you'd barely started out

Somebody, a girl, smoked a joint and looked at me

As I was out on the bed

And that was that for all it was worth

Then drink and other things as well if any different

Don't give up on life! Wake up a bit! Liven up!

Buy a paper pad, some pens and make notes

Or you can buy any kind of computer

As well and if you feel like it

Life is not so sad if you have help from a machine

Even if no one else will help you enough to spend time with you

'Get a life and it will pay you back!'

And they say, 'You may as well!'

So interest yourself in something, spend time on it when you are not with friends

You can make up the distance

But then, you might not get married.

Still, you could at least get laid!

So they say to cheer you up.

It's a revolution!

The sexual revolution, haven't you heard!

And you can even stick a cleaning timetable on your wall you did on your computer

That is it if you do nothing else with it.

They say this as well and laugh!

What should you make of it?

Make nothing of it when it is beyond a joke.

And the nurses are not the ones who made the joke.

So don't take offence.

Then you will find yourself in a different place with different nurses.

You can do everything on a word processor and learn to love the artificial page

There are not many other programs you might want to use, they say in the end

But you can try them out. Or don't to not waste your time. These things they'd tell you.

What about having a digital camera? Rubbish, don't have them. And don't get one to start with.

That was a joke! Laugh, why don't you? If you can't laugh at that, then, what can you do?

I mean, much water has passed under the bridge in just a few years that you know nothing of

It is sad really, but not as sad as what your parents feel when you know nothing of what they wanted

I mean, come and take the medication. That's a good boy! It's such a laugh!

Why can't we say that? It is too silly for thought. Go away, come back, come back and go.

The End
