The tale which here follows is a tale of three civilizations warring savagely against one another. It is a tale of a sad, regretful old man on a quest to bring peace to the land, and in so doing, to atone for his past sins. It is the tale of a brave, heroic boy who is kidnapped from his family, who is made a slave in a foreign land, and who strives desperately to become a man. It is the tale of a innocent, loving girl who is brutally raped and tortured, and who cries out desperately for a touch of kindness and compassion in a harsh, brutal world. Ultimately, it is a tale of the struggles of a few good people to spread love, peace and kindness in the world, and of the many human failings which never cease to create pain and suffering in the world.

Also, I have written this novel not for any personal gain, but only for the benefit of humanity. Therefore, please feel free to copy and redistribute this novel as much as you wish, and in any way, shape or form in which you so wish, provided only that you neither add anything to this novel, nor subtract anything from it, nor alter it in any way, and that you accept no credit for the creation hereof.

Lastly, this tale occurs in a fictitious world in which there exist several fictitious languages. For that reason, there are occasionally to be found, in the text of this novel, certain words which are unique to those fictitious languages, and which can not be translated into English without losing a portion of their meaning. Therefore, I have attached, to the end of this novel, an appendix which lists all of the non-English words which are used herein, and which explains their meaning. All non-English words are written in the International Phonetic Alphabet, in order to facilitate the best possible understanding of their pronunciation.
