Summary

Nicks story is one of three that tie together. I originally posted three stories together, TAREN IT UP, CARMENS STORY AND NICKS STORY, I hope that they will read separately as well. Its a lot of the same story with three different points of view so if you read one completely through you will find similarities in the events but hopefully enough of each persons point of view to make them unique. After CARMENS STORY and NICKS STORY, there is a follow up story for Nick and Carmen called FIGHT OR FLIGHT. I hope you enjoy all three stories.

Nick called Olivias phone when he was a little caught up on contracts and waiting on Carmen. He was immediately startled by the sound of her voice.

“What's wrong Livy?”

She started sobbing. Nick couldn't understand a word she was saying. His heart dropped as he thought of what horrible thing could have happened.

Taren's voice came on the phone. “Nick.”

“What's wrong with Livy!” He demanded.

“She had a panic attack.” He answered.

“What?” Nick asked confused. Why would Olivia have a panic attack.

“Has she ever had one before?”

“No. Never.”

Taren explained. “We were at this mall waiting on Hank to sleep. We all decided to do some go kart riding. I think the whole thing was overwhelming and caused a panic attack. My brother has them. I'm sorry I didn't think about it before we went in there. I should have thought it through.”

“Is she okay?” Nick started to stress, he had no idea what to do.

“She will be. A lot hit her at once, she just needs a little time to work through it.”

“Taren I don't like this.” He stated. “I don't like having her ride a bus with a bunch of guys I don't know. I need her here. I can't keep worrying about her like this. Please tell me you understand this.”

“I do, Nick.” He relented

“Help me.” He begged “I need to convince her to come home. Please help me do that. She's not listening to me. She's too damn stubborn.”

“I don’t know that she will listen to me.” He supplied.

“Yes, she will. Its your bus. Tell her she needs to get off.” he suggested.

“I can’t do that, Nick.” he stated. “I’ve already tried that. It wasn’t my idea to put her on the bus in the first place.”

“I am coming to see her.” Nick continued. “I have a conference not far from your show in Boise. Maybe I can talk some sense into her.”

“Curtis can get you a pass.” Taren supplied.

“Thanks. Taren. I’ll see you soon.”

************

Nick was grateful his schedule worked out so that he could be with Olivia again. He felt like they had so much momenteum while she was in for Jason’s funeral. He was looking forward to seeing her again so soon. It had only been two weeks but it felt like another six months.

Nick arrived on Thursday. His conference was scheduled for two days, he was staying till Sunday. He grew anxious waiting for Olivia to arrive. The bus wasn't going to be here till Saturday morning.

He was waiting at the venue when the bus arrived.

He grabbed her up and hugged her tight. “I've missed you.”

Nick stopped at a local grocery store and bought enough food for a picnic. He wanted to be alone and not some packed restaurant. He stopped at a local park and walked around.

The park was full of families out for the day but it wasn't crowded and they were able to be alone and talk. They caught up on where she'd been and what she's done. He loved that they never seemed to miss a beat in conversation. They spotted a museum as they walked around the park and decided it would be a great place to cool off for a bit before they ate lunch. They hung out like a couple of friends, talking and just enjoying each other's company.

The day went too quickly for Nick's liking. After their picnic he pulled her to the car he was renting and opted for driving around. He wasn't ready to take her back to the venue.

They stopped at a nature trail and followed it around.

He hugged her often and held her hand. He stopped at the end of their walk and faced her. “Livy.”

“Yeah”

“I know I sound like a broken record but I really really want you to come home with me.”

“Nick…I.”

He reached up and cupped her face and covered her lips with his. He started out softly until he got a response out of her. She was reluctant at first but she gave in and let him kiss her and then responded with kissing back. He pulled her in tighter. He finally released her and stepped back grabbing her hands. “I really don't like waiting for you. I'm ready to figure us out. I'm ready for you to live with me and it's killing me to worry about you so much.”

“I know Nick. I'm sorry. I really am. I just don't think I'm ready for ‘us’ yet.”

“How can you be so sure? You haven't even given us a chance.”

“Nick. I just know I’m scared. We've been friends forever and I'm not sure there's any more than that.”

He looked at her. “You're not sure we can be more than friends?”

“No. I'm not.” She stated frustrated. “I don't see how.”

“Come home with me and I'll show you.” He teased.

“Nick.” She chuckled smiling.

“Seriously, Olivia. Give me a chance here. I've been waiting forever to show you how we can be more than friends. I love you.”

“I love you too.”

“Please come home with me Olivia. I can't wait any longer.” He pleaded.

“I can't Nick. I really can't. I will be there I promise but I can't come right now.”

He struggled with her reluctance. She wanted to come home with him and at the same time she didn’t. He couldn’t understand it. He knew she was stubborn but this was beyond her usual stubbornness. What ever had her concerned he couldn’t get past it. He couldn’t figure out what it was. His patience was wearing thin, he didn’t know if he would ever get her home. He started to consider what he would do if she never came back. He couldn’t imagine his life without her in it. How could she not come back?

Nick took her back to the venue in time for the first band to start. He enjoyed the show, it was louder than he remembered a concert being or maybe he's just gotten older a little more mellow.

He watched as Olivia enjoyed herself and probably knew the words to every song. One of the crew, the body guard named Scott, had come to stand beside her as well for a while. He greeted Nick and they talked for a bit before he had to leave once Taren came on.

“Scott always stays with me during the shows until Taren goes on and then he comes by and checks on me.”

“Why?” Nick was grateful but curious.

Olivia shrugged a shoulder.  “I've come across a few jerks out here.”

Nick looked around as if they were present now. He pulled her close. “So I was right. It's not safe for you to be out here by yourself.” He teased.

She grinned. “Not always.” She admitted.

“Remind me to thank Scott later.”

She chuckled. “Okay. But I'm pretty sure Taren is the one who made him start.”

“I'll thank him too.” He kissed her.

******************

Nick and Olivia sat with the rest of the crew at the restaurant downstairs in the hotel. The more he hung out with this crew the more he liked them. They enjoyed learning more about Olivia as Nick told them stories about her childhood and teenage years and he had a great time hanging out with all of them.

Once they were in her room. He pulled her close, cupping her face and covering her lips with his own. They stood in the entrance of her room kissing for an eternity. He didn't want to stop. Eventually they had to get ready for bed.

When he pulled her toward the bed he had to assure her he was only planning to hold her for the night. He wanted to do so much more but her reluctance to leave this trip was all the assurance he needed to know she wasn’t ready yet.

He tried again to convince her to come home with him. He knew she would say no but he couldn’t stop himself from trying. He was happy to hold her for the night, the next two weeks were going to drag by, he was sure of that but he was looking forward to her stop in Jasper Springs.
