Twenty-two – Change on the horizon...

Phoebus sighed as he ignored another phone call, he was in no hurry to leave though he couldn't stay long. He ran his hand over her hip absently she smiled it was such a light touch though he didn't touch her further, not that she would have minded it was just nice he could enjoy touching her even without going further. She cuddled against him he closed his eyes nude pressed against his beloved only her on his mind for once he wouldn't find more peace than this for some time he was sure.

He tipped her head up to kiss her softly when they parted ways he would miss the chance, she returned the kiss wrapping her arms around his neck.

….

When he returned to his house Averas was waiting he did tell the truth that he was simply away to have peace not as though the uptight bastard had any scent to know anything more. Still he gave him a dirty look.

“Well your daughter is looking for you.”

“For another fight I would assume.” he said moving past him to change his clothes, his thoughts briefly trailing to just before they left.

It started as a rather innocent bath but it eventually got all the more steamed the sound of her sweet moans were still playing in his head. He stayed behind waiting for a message that she was safely home before heading back himself. He went upstairs and glanced in Sheria's room since she'd left the door open. Averas soon heard him swear as the thrown knife hit his arm, Phoebus glared at her as he ripped the knife out of his arm.

“What the fuck is wrong with you?!” he snapped.

“You're the worst father ever!”

“Well look what I'm working with what do you fucking expect?”

Sheria glared at him and crossed her arms, he stared at the knife the blade started to glow it wasn't just a weakness with him no demon could sense an attack from a cursed blade. He shook his head.

“....hard to imagine we were ever as close as I thought, why you had to take after your mother I'll never know.”

“Because of her!”

“Because a woman made me happy? You can't come up with a better reason than that?” he said.

She only pouted in response, did she even know she was being childish by not speaking to him about what was bothering her? Probably not but she was hopeless at the moment and only stared at the ground. He just sighed.

“For all your ways Sheria you're still my daughter and I love you, I just wish the fantasy I had that you loved me too was more than that.”

She looked up as he walked away.

“I do love you dad...I can't help that the shame is there.”

“Then you can't say the love is really there either.” he replied from the hall, done with this conversation for now.

….

Alfonse looked up as Melina came downstairs he was glad to see her come back safe and sound even to be happy knowing where she had been. He was still worried knowing how they were trying so hard to keep Phoebus away from his sister. He didn't think he was such an issue since Melina would show but he wondered how long sneaking around would be enough. He didn't want her to be hurt because she couldn't be with the one she loved and he could study all he wanted he was still limited in helping more than he was by boosting her powers. She was just supposed to be studying as she said it had been a few hours yet.

“Need my help with something sis?”

“Well sort of...”

“Sort of?”

“I had a vision while I was studying but the windows were blocked and there were no clocks...”

“So a vague vision of what could have been or could be?”

“What could be.”

“Are you sure?”

She nodded.

“What makes you so certain?” it was important to over think all visions as witches were taught, even a 'pointless' vision that no one could do anything about because it was for an event that already happened had something to give. Something worth studying.

“Well I know I don't have any children yet.”

He stared at her for a moment.

“Are you pregnant now?”

“I don't think so....”

He stood up.

“That is not a good answer.”

“Well I've only ever known one and I clearly don't know how babies work for demons the elders said that was the area I didn't need to study.”

He sighed.

“Fair enough..perhaps we better take a look at demonic pregnancy tests though...and the thought of you sleeping with someone..gross never mention it again.”

She laughed ignoring her cringing brother's face.

“I didn't directly mention it.”

“You didn't have to..and stop.”

Her slight grin faded for a moment.

“I hope that it is to come....I don't know how I can keep the demons from interfering with any baby at this stage.”

“You won't have to worry about that, he or she would be half witch after all the elders won't let any sort of witch out from under their teachings without a fight.” Alfonse said confidently.

She hoped he was right, it was one thing to keep the baby safe which she could do but she wondered if the only option would be to keep away from Phoebus that wasn't fair, he should know if he was to have another child.
