There was an eerie silence in the bedroom, Lacey noticed Evan looking over her, she tried to turn to see what he was looking at but Evan held the side of her face. “Look at me Lacey.” His deep voice spoke in an urgent whisper. He didn’t want her to see Jim holding the gun on Jack. He reached over her and took the key to the handcuffs from Jim who had taken it from the bedside cabinet.

Evan uncuffed Lacey and moved her to the edge of the bed, keeping her back to Jack. Lacey rubbed her sore wrists and gazed up at Evan, her heart raced at the sight of his tall figure leaning over her, he slipped his hands under her arms and picked her up. Lacey wrapped her arms and legs around him and nuzzled her face into his neck, breathing in his smell of cologne. “Evan.” Tears welled in her eyes. “What are you doing here?”

Evan moved her head to look at her. “I’m here for you Lacey.” He gazed into her eyes then gently kissed her on the lips.

Lacey began to sob and held on tight to him, she didn’t want to let him go. He walked across the bedroom towards the door and put her down, he raised her face to look at him. “Go to the car with Mart, I’ll be with you in a minute.”

Lacey nodded, she glanced across the bedroom and saw Jim with a gun at Jack’s head and began to panic. “Please Evan don’t shoot him.” she begged, gripping his Jacket.

Evan held his hands over hers to loosen her grip. “Let me deal with this. Just get in the car.” He nodded to Mart who was standing at the top of the stairs. “Get her out of here.” He ordered.

Mart held Lacey by her waist, trying to guide her towards the stairs. “Evan, I’m begging you, if you shoot him, I’ll never forgive you.” She sobbed, struggling to get away from Mart.

Evan could see the fear in Lacey’s eyes, he cupped her face with both hands. “I promise you I won’t shoot him.” His voice stayed calm. “Now go to the car and let me deal with him.”

Lacey uncontrollably sobbed when Mart walked her downstairs. She was frightened for Jack; he may have kidnapped and hurt her but she didn’t want him to die. At the bottom of the stairs she noticed the bag of new clothes that Jack had bought her by the living room door. Grabbing the bag, she took them to the car with her.

Walking across the dark empty street towards Evans car, Lacey gazed up at Jack’s bedroom window and shivered at the thought the pain Evan would put him through. The click of the car door opening snapped her out of her thoughts, she looked at giant figure of Mart who gestured her to get in the car. Lacey climbed into the back of the car and curled up on the seat. Her head was spinning with all the events that had happened over the past weeks. Feeling betrayed by Jack, the man she loved and trusted was heart breaking. Maybe if he had approached things differently the day she was released from the police station, she may have forgiven him for his deceit and they could have moved on and remained friends.

Lacey rubbed the handcuff mark on her wrist and sighed, Evan, the man she was in love with had rescued her. But why had he rescued her, she meant nothing to him, she was just a whore? Lacey huffed a little laugh, maybe she was right when she told Charlotte that Evan would come after her again to pay back more losses for Rachael now she couldn’t work again.

Gazing out of the car window, Lacey relaxed her head against the back of the seat and smiled. If Evan wanted her to pay back more losses, then she was prepared to go back to his house with him. Even though he didn’t love her, at least she could spend more time with him. Suddenly she remembered Jack showing her that Evan had put her online to sell her for sex. Her stomach churned as panic set in. Evan had only come back for her to sell her. The clothes in the bag that Jack had bought her were on the seat next to her, she saw them as her opportunity to run. Grabbing the clothes out of the bag, Lacey began to quickly change into them.

Mart turned around. “Oi what you doing?” He shouted.

“Keep your fucking eye’s off me!” Lacey cried, clipping her bra on.

Mart locked the doors from the inside of the car. Lacey frantically kicked the doors, begging him to let her out. Mart rang Jim and asked for help, Lacey was trying to run.

Jim ran out of the house and climbed into the car next to Lacey. Lacey screamed and punched him.

“Lacey!” Jim bellowed, trying to deflect her punches. “Calm down!” He gripped her in his arms and held her against his chest. “What’s wrong?” He asked, stroking her hair trying to calm her down.

Lacey gripped onto his jacket and sobbed. “I’m scared.”

Jim hugged her closer to him. “What are you scared of?”

“Evan, he’s going to sell me?” She cried.

Jim raised Lacey’s face, his heart went out to her, she looked terrified. “Can you remember the first time I took you to Evan’s house?”

“Yes.” She sniffled.

“You thought Evan was going to hurt you, didn’t you?”

Lacey nodded.

“I told you he wasn’t going to hurt you and it was the truth, wasn’t it?”

Lacey began to relax with Jim’s calm voice. “Yes.”

“Well believe me when I tell you this.” Jim looked Lacey in the eyes. “Evan isn’t going to sell you; he just wants you to go home with him.”

Lacey believed Jim, she had got to know him so well over the past few weeks and had always believed he was straight with her. She sighed and lay her head against his chest and smiled when he kissed the top of her head.

……………

Evan watched Lacey leaving the house from the bedroom window, then turned to Jack and Jim stepped back. Jack jumped off the bed, Evan lunged at him and punched him in the face.

Jack fell to the ground with a thud. “Is that the best you can do Duber?” He shouted, holding his bloody nose.

Evan yanked him up by his t-shirt and punched him twice in the face.

Jack fell to the floor again. “You know what Durber?” He rolled around, wiping the blood off his face. “You won’t want that little whore of yours again when I tell you how hard I fucked her while she’s been here.”

Evan saw red, his anger raged inside as he dragged Jack off the floor and slammed him against the wall. “You’d better not have laid a finger on her.” He growled.

Jack stared Evan in the eyes. “You can ask her but she will deny it.” He smirked. “You’ll never know the truth.”

Evan punched Jack in the stomach several times and threw him across the room. Jack rolled around the floor, groaning in agony and coughing up blood.

Evan paced the room with his hands on his head. The thought of Jack and Lacey together was driving him insane.

Jim received a call on his mobile, Lacey was trying to run. He left the house to go and help Mart.

Jack rolled his head back and began to laugh, even though he was scared for his life, was enjoying winding Evan up. He wanted to ruin what bit of relationship Evan and Lacey had. “Ask Lacey how she felt being fucked like a dog all day, because I enjoyed it.” He groaned.

Evan stood over Jack and lit a cigarette, watching him writhing in pain on the floor. A strange calmness waved through his body, he knew Jack was lying, he had been at work all day. But Jack could have slept with Lacey since he had kidnapped her. Evan took a long draw of his cigarette then flicked it on the floor. He was going to make sure Jack never had the chance to go anywhere near Lacey ever again. Jack’s eyes widened with fear when Evan kneeled next to him, he gripped him around the neck and began to punch him in his face. Jack choked and struggled to get out of Evans grip. As Evan’s powerful punches fuelled with hatred, rained down on him, Jack eventually stopped struggling and lay lifeless on the floor. Sweating and out of breath, Evan checked Jacks pulse, there wasn’t one, he was dead.

Evan calmly walked to the bathroom and washed the blood off his hands. When he turned around to leave he noticed the mat on the floor ruffled up with money poking out of the edge. He picked it up and counted it, there was one hundred and seventy pounds. He made a phone call to the men he had waiting around the corner. “Ready.” Is all he said. He then rang Jim and told him to meet him at the front of the house.

Evan walked out of the front door and took a deep breath of the cold night air, he looked up and down the dimly lit street. All the houses were in darkness, neighbours slept soundly in their beds, unaware of what had just happened.

Jim appeared from around the corner. Evan grinned when he saw him. “Stay here until Rob turns up, he’s going to torch the place so there’s no trace of us in there. How’s Lacey?”

“She’s calm now.” Jim put his hand on Evans shoulder and squeezed it. “But you really need to talk to her, she thought you’d only come for her to sell her online.”

Evan rubbed his forehead and nodded. “Ok, but don’t tell her Jack’s dead. I’m going to tell her I gave him a beating and you’re taking him back to his wife.” He was about to walk away then stopped. “Here.” He passed Jim the money he found. “I think this belongs to you.”

Jim shook his head and laughed, he walked into the house to wait for Rob.

Evan sat in the back of the car with Lacey and told the driver to take them home. Evan looked at Lacey who was sitting curled up against the door staring wide eyed at his shirt.

Tears welled in her eyes. “W What have you done to Jack?” She stuttered.

Evan rubbed the back of his neck and rolled his head. “I’ve just taught him a lesson; he won’t bother us again.”

“What sort of lesson?” She cried pointing to his shirt. “There’s blood all over you!”

Evan leaned towards her and she flinched. Seeing her flinch tore his heart in two, he didn’t want her to be scared of him. “A fucking hard lesson.” He growled. “He’s going back to his wife now.” He turned away and gazed out of the window still rubbing the back of his neck to ease the tension in it.

Lacey stared at Evan not knowing whether to believe him or not and could feel herself beginning to panic again. Her body began to burn up and sweat, she needed to get out of the car for some fresh air. “Stop the car.” She cried pulling on the door handles.

Evan turned to her. “What?”

“I said stop the car!”

“But we’re nearly home now.”

“It’s not my fucking home, I said stop the car!” She screamed, lunging at him.

Evan grabbed her arms and pinned her against the back of the seat. “For fucks sake Lacey you’re not going anywhere.”

Lacey twisted her body to try and break Evan’s grip on her. “Please just let me go.” She sobbed. “Why do I have to go back to your house. I don’t understand what you want from me.”

“Please Lacey.” Evan let go of her arms. “Calm down and I’ll tell you when we get home.”

Lacey’s energy suddenly drained and her body slumped into the seat. Her face scrunched and tears began to stream down her cheeks. “I can’t do this anymore.”

Evan could see now she had been pushed too far. “Come here.” He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her onto his knees.

Lacey snuggled her face into his chest and sobbed. She loved Evan so much it hurt. Earlier on she thought she could live with him even though he didn’t love her. But while she had sat with Jim, waiting for Evan so many things had gone through her mind and she had suddenly realised that her life could have possibly just changed for the worse. “Evan.” She whispered.

“Yes.”

“Please let me go.”

Even pulled Lacey closer to him. “I don’t want to let you go.”

She looked up at him. “Why?” She nervously asked.

Evan gazed into her eyes and sighed. “Because I love you.”

Well Evan didn't lie to Lacey. He didn't shoot him, and he's going back to his wife to be buried.LOL.. Though who would of thought the mobster would be better for her then Jack in the beginning of this story, even when we just found out he was a undercover copper.

I'm glad he finally told her, but I'm sure he's got a long road to go down to convince her that he loves her. Great story sweetheart!

Thank you . I think at the beginning a lot of people who have read this thought that Jack would be the one, Evan is good for Lacey they just have to both calm down a little now, but with the tempers they both have, its going to be difficult. :)

Awwwww finally he tells her how he feels, but how is she to believe him after all that's happened? And...how can she possibly love a man she really doesn't know? It doesn't seem very fair. He needs to remedy that if he means to keep her.
