Chapter--

Jacob had stabbed his claws deep into Nates stomach rupturing his guts and puncturing his stomach.

AS Ezekiel had turned away from Brandon and left him bleeding to death on the floor, Jacob had suddenly pounced on Nate.

With a fluid speed and violent rage Jacob had dodged one attack, grabbed Nates face and delivered a punishing head-butt into his nose. Nate was temporarily dazed, then Jacob steeped into him and slammed his claws deep into Nate’s belly.

Nates pained whimper….was like sandpaper to Ezekiels emotionally devastated ears. Ezekiel saw his brother collapse into the earth…and he lost it.

His family had been attacked. His cousins had been put down. His brothers had been savagely beaten. His mother was injured. Brandon had been violated and there was nothing that he could do to change any of it…..

Ezekiel Shifted as part of him were devoured in a rage….that actually felt like the edge of insanity. His teeth were a little too long in his Leopards mouth. His claws were a little more deadly, his fur was thicker….and his roar was a lot more throaty.

Non-surprisingly Jacob took one look at Ezekiel, snarled. “Fucking Reavers!  Dont you ever stop! Damn! I really starting to hate you Lover Boy!” the Lion roared in what sounded like frustration, then he turned and took off in the opposite direction.

Leaving Nate and Brandon behind him, Ezekiels Leopard tore off after Jacob with a single drive on its beastly mind. To rend flesh and taste blood.

He pushed new levels of rage out into his Leopards long spotted legs, and his tail pointed out level to the earth, guiding his zigs and zags, as Ezekiel chased Jacob across the field towards the trees like a cheetah.

Unfortunately Jacob was somehow just fast enough that he dashed deep into the dimming forest.

Something in Ezekiel, some small spark of the man in him instantly knew that it would be suicide to follow the dangerous lion into the dimming forest, with the sun setting….and his brother and Brandon behind him both in dire medical situations.

Still Ezekiel lashed his long tail like a whip, as he paced back and forth at the edge of the dark pines. Staring into the depths….as Jacobs back disappeared into the darkness.

No doubt the Lion would be running all night to get beyond the borders of the Leopard Clan….before the entire might of Mantilo’s Clans Men chased the Lion down and fell upon him.

It took a long few minutes for Ezekiel to sooth the blood lust of the beast. It took more time to wrest control back from his Leopard…but when Ezekiel finally managed to do it, Ezekiel De-Shifted and raced back to Nate and Brandon’s sides.

***

Once Ezekiel made it back over to them, Nate was in his Wolf form. A giant hulking muscled ball of thick grey fur, hard nails, thick fangs, a scared left eyes and silvery white eyes sat curled on the earth.

Instantly sensing that his brother had had to give the Wolf control, in order to combat the tearrs in his abdomen and holes in his guts. Ezekiel approached the beast slowly knowing that a Shifter that was wounded had the potential to snap on anything around it.

But the Wolf didn’t pay much attention to Ezekiels approach. ITs fur was matted with blood, but the beast seemed unconcerned with this.

Nates Wolf had ignored its own wounds, and instead laid cuddled up beside Brandon’s motionless body, sharing warmth, and quietly whining and whimpering as if trying desperately to make Brandon open his eyes or respond.

The beast’s actions were slightly surprising considering that pack animals like Wolves didn’t act this way unless they were trying to comfort pack mates.

Sensing that the wolf actions were a mirror to what Nate may have felt, Ezekiel dropped down beside them both. He laid a calming hand against his brother trying to soothe the beasts pain and sadness.

Then, before Ezekiel could do or say much else, the front door was suddenly filled with two familiar faces.

Erin, a hand wrapped around her stomach appeared first. Her face was dashed with blood, and her clothing was torn and slashed form an obvious fight. And Drin was right beside her, his right eye was swollen shut, his body looked torn to shreds and his arm was slung across Erin’s shoulder, as the young mates limped out onto the porch.

And at that exact moment, before Ezekiel could even feel relief touch his heart a group of more familiar bodies limped up from the east, the setting sun casting orange rays of light across Mantilo who was still carrying Glen in his arm. Walter. And Lander who was holding his stomach, but was standing proud at the back of the group.

?Were alive...Everyones alive...

?Ezekeil slowly sighed insid eof his mind as his family slowly came back togeather and soon stood around Brandon who was barely alive.

?And yet the relife Ezkeiel felt was bitter sweet. The image of Hovel bleeding to death after feeling the touch of his claws flashed in his mind, accompanied by the fusterated retreat of JAcob as he ditched everything and ran for his life.

?IS this the end? Did the Grand MAster survive that attack? He shpuld have died, I nearly took his head off his shoulders. And I doubt JAocb will dare to return...

?Ezekiel shook his head.

Still...I dont feel like this is the end of it. Did we win the war.....or just one single battle?

?Ezekiel had to question himself as he slowly took Brandons lifeless body into his embrace and the overwhelming splash of spicy blood on the wind turned his stomach...and also stroked his lust. Thinking that he would rather die then touch Brandons blood when he had already lost so much, Ezkeiel denied the odd, but powerful urge he had to partake of Brandons dangerous, but pwerful essence.

But still unable to stop himself Ezekiel hiked Brandon closer to his body, wrapped his arm under him and hissed as he nuzzled the man? Taking in the weak heart beat and the cold sweat on his skin..

The strong splash of Brnadons scent tempted him as it always did, but Ezkeiel ignored this in exchange for simply pressing his body to Brandons, in hopes that his proximity would help to brush the parlor of cold, pale death from his injured form.

?Why....why did JAcob do this? Why hurt Brandon so cruelly? What were he and the Grand Master planning to do once they got Brandon back?

?Somehting inside of Ezekiel felt....a visceral pain. Somehting so strong and deffinite that it nearly had Ezkeiel feeling like breaking apart.

?Once more this damaged, but innocent and beautiful mortal sat broken and bloody infront of him. Once more Ezkeiel had to witness his pain....and simply suffer in the reality that he could not make it end.

?It made Ezkeiel feel desperate...and dangerous....it made the forbiden and inapropriate words float up inside of him, on the backs of his leopards snarls and hisses.

Mine.....Mine....

The stark reality in that moment was that Ezkeiel did feel Brandons pain as his own. His suffering as his own.

This man....was something that had become more then Ezkeiel had even wanted to think about before. He had become somehting vital....and prescios....and beloved....

Ezekiel shuttered as he tucked his face against Brnadons forhead and breathed in his scent. And even with the forbiden and innapropriate word dancing in his thougths and in his heart Ezekiel didnt push it away. He let it settle, he let the word start to take root inside of him.

And....he let in the pain and the guilt that came with the word he had been fighting not to indulge, like a posessive fool.

Hes mine....

Ezkeiel thoguht to himself, with a small flare of warmth in his soul that he couldent deny.

This has to be the end of it for him....I cant let anything like this happen again....He deserves not to be hurt and hunted. Hes so fragile beneath the anger and the pain.

Hovel and Jacob did more then attack him, they bled him like he was an animal. They took his essence against he will!

I said that we would protect him...and I almost lost him....They hurt him....They keep hurting him! I dont know what I would have done....if they had taken him away today.

?No...This is the end. No ones going to touch him again...or hurt him....Not even the Flame.

?Hes Mine and Im going to wipe away everything else thats standing in the way of that!
